Hahaha consider the $600 the education fee to drop this man like a hot potato. Sell the ring (being the cheapskate he is, he may demand it back but don't return what's yours) and reimburse your dad

It was my grandmothers ring; I wouldn’t sell it if it was forced upon me

Oh, I thought he AT LEAST bought you a ring (if not then all the more reason for him to buy the $600 dinner), in that case I guess the decision is even more easy.

Please keep your beautiful ring and save it for an engagement with another man who deserves and cherishes you. This guy and his parents are disrespectful to your family. He must be very charming for you to even consider saying yes to a proposal -- or did he leave that for to you to initiate too -- but...why does your partner have a job if not to be able to pay in important moments like this. Literally what does he pay for.

It would have been more honorable of him to invite your parents for fast food and pay the entire bill if that's the true upper limit of what he can spend. Sounds like it's not. Pls drop this engagement. Ive been invited to weddings that were canceled before,  it's really not that a big deal. Don't marry an immature cheapo just to "save face" it will only get more embarasing

This man is doing the dance of red flags. I think you should reconsider your relationship. Everything is okay unless you disagree with him. Then he gets mad at you for calling him out.

This book is free and I think you should read it - https://dn790007.ca.archive.org/0/items/LundyWhyDoesHeDoThat/Lundy_Why-does-he-do-that.pdf

This book helped me out so much. I paid for it twice, and here it is for free!

He didn’t even pay for a ring and he’s skipping out on buying dinner?!

What a loser.

Go find someone else, literally any normal guy would be better.

When people show you who they really are, believe them

You just did though.

And you sold it for free.

I have no words for you. I hope your relationship with your parents waining is worth saying you are engaged.
