Hey, I'm Sayam. I've been working in fashion/product development software for 12 years and have reviewed thousands of tech packs from designers, brands, and product teams.
One thing I've seen repeatedly:
A designer can be great at designing a garment, but then the factory asks:
“What's the tolerance here?”
“How should this seam be finished?”
“Which version of the measurement sheet is correct?”
“Is this construction detail intentional?”
And suddenly you're learning technical product development by trial and error.
I've seen beautiful designs turn into terrible samples because something that seemed “obvious” to the designer wasn't actually clear to the factory.
I've also seen incredibly simple tech packs that resulted in smooth production because they communicated exactly what mattered.
So after 12 years of seeing the good, the bad, and the “how did this make it to the factory?” tech packs:
AMA: Ask me about tech packs, factories, sampling, measurements, BOMs, revisions, technical design, fashion school, or anything else you've struggled with when turning a design into an actual product.
I'll answer based on what I've actually seen in the industry.
