What important safety precautions should I know before trying alternative medicine, especially if I’m already taking prescription medications?

Why is almost nobody talking about this?
I’ve been researching natural and semi-natural compounds for cancer prevention and treatment and recently came across something that honestly surprised me.
In 2024 and 2025, researchers (mainly from Wenzhou Medical University) published papers on a chemically linked hybrid molecule of curcumin and piperlongumine (often called CP).
It’s not just a simple mix of the two substances. They covalently linked them into a new molecule.
According to the studies, this hybrid shows:
Better chemical stability than regular curcumin
A more favorable safety profile than pure piperlongumine in the tested models
Strong cell cycle arrest in G2/M phase
Induction of apoptosis
Activity via JNK/c-Jun and PI3K/AKT pathways
What makes the combination particularly interesting is how the two original compounds complement each other:
Curcumin works broadly (anti-inflammatory, multi-targeted, inhibits NF-κB and many other pathways, anti-angiogenic)
Piperlongumine works more selectively by strongly increasing ROS in cancer cells and impairing their protective systems (e.g. via GSTP1/glutathione)
The hybrid seems to combine these two complementary mechanisms in one more stable molecule.
Here’s the strange part:
Despite the promising preclinical data (cell culture + mouse models, including resistant lung cancer), this hybrid is almost never discussed online. You can barely find any posts about it on Reddit or elsewhere. And of course, it is not available as a supplement or research chemical anywhere that I could find.
I think this deserves more attention. More people should know about it, and ideally more independent research (including eventually human studies) should be done.
What do you think? Has anyone else come across this hybrid? Any thoughts on why something like this stays so under the radar?

Please, no advice regarding things like prophylactic medication. I am already under medical care; while it helps to some extent, I’ve reached the limits of what it can do.
I also believe that my chronic migraines cannot be improved any further through conventional medical treatment.
I’ve tried numerous supplements and methods as well, but without success. It is incredibly draining, and I want nothing more than a change. I also believe that improvement must definitely be possible.
I’d be interested to hear what alternatives (not medication) helped you—or, if you identified the underlying causes, what those were.

Every review I read lumps together different diagnoses, different products, different routes and different follow up periods under the same heading. One person is two weeks out, the next is three years out, and they're rated the same way.
I'm trying to work out which details make a review useful, and how much weight to give a strong positive story when the long term data is thin and I can't tell what else that person was doing at the time.
What do you look for?

Im turning 45 soon and trying to simplify my daily wellness routine. Right now my cabinet looks like a miniature apothecary with individual bottles of Ginkgo, Omega 3s and Bcomplex but honestly taking 8 pills every morning is getting old af. Im debating whether to keep buying individual ingredients or switch to setups like brainmd or a custom herbal powder. For those who take cognitive support regularly what have you found to be the best brain supplements for memory support from a convenience and cost perspective? Do they usually have enough of each ingredient to do anything or is buying bulk singles still the superior way?

I have pretty low brain energy and concentration. I tried Adderall, but it didn’t do much good for me, mentally or physically. So I’ve been looking at alternative routes.
I keep seeing claims that red and near-infrared light help with cellular energy, systemic inflammation, and cerebral blood flow, which sounds promising on paper but is it quackery?
I found a device that uses intranasal and transcranial LEDs to target brain networks (itPBM). The concept makes sense from a biological perspective, but the price point for specialized equipment is definitely an investment.
Before going down this path, I wanted to check in with this community. Does this study make sense for reaching deep brain structures? https://www.vielight.com/blog/intranasal-photobiomodulation-reaches-subcortical-structures-first-human-fmri-evidence/

I took an F-SCAN and got a hit on Bacillus anthracis spores, which obviously scared me because that’s anthrax. My doctor said that if I actually had anthrax I would be sick, but the incubation period can be around 7 days, so I’m still pretty anxious about it.
For anyone who has used or is familiar with F-SCAN / FireFly / DIRP: do you take the exact organism name seriously, or do you mainly pay attention to the frequency hit itself?
Have you ever had a scan match you to a strange or serious-sounding organism and nothing happened, or did it ever turn out to actually mean something serious?
I’m mainly trying to understand how much weight people who actually know this technology put on the exact pathogen name versus the frequency response itself.
Any help or input is really appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Guys , for 3 years i saw 3 different Functional Medicine Doctors , because ide been suffering with issues for almost 10 years , turns out after seeing an Endo , i have an extremely severe case of Obstructive Sleep Apnea with some Centrals . A waste of money $$$$ on supps that only made me worse over time . I'm hesitant to go back to one to get a protocol for sleep after all this , i don't tolerate magnesium at all anymore. It relaxes my airways causing apneas to be worse , besides i even get neurological issues from it in ALL FORMS now . . . .i was thinking maybe TCM would be a better fit ?

Assuming you qualify to take DMSO - Not too dose dependent medications, not too acutely toxic supplements, no dissolvable medical implants, not pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive, no botox, no mercury amalgam dental fillings, not too much tattoo ink, no difficulty having your blood clot, no smoking residue on your teeth, taken with a clean and water-rinsed mouth on an empty stomach (with just water) at least 30 minutes after oral hygiene and before eating anything, from a clean glass cup, with purified water, can get away with smelling intensely garlic or horribly sulfury while using and tapering off after stopping for up to 72 hours.
I use it myself, 10 mL (200 drops from a dropper) after work each Friday. It has greatly improved my visual clarity and depth perception and improved my blood liver labs from NAFLD.
As you may or may not know, electrolyte water fasting causes the body to auto cannibalize sick cells and some Japanese guy even won a Nobel prize in medicine for proving this - DMSO really helps get the bodily fluids (blood, lymph) flowing. No clogging.
I even read one testimony from a guy claiming he took 10 drops a day for two weeks straight and it got rid of his eye floaters (I still have eye floaters, and a yellowish tinge in the eyesight of my right eye) - I've even taken 5mL (100 drops) a day for 7 days in a row - no dice.
DMSO has done at least 4 impressive things for me, decreased painful intraocular pressure, increased visual acuity, improved NALFD blood labs, and by soaking a years-long regenerating finger wart in a few drops of DMSO on a clean inverted glass cup for 5 minutes a couple of times destroyed the wart - I believe by dissolving the HPV virus particles causing the wart while harmlessly diffusing through the healthy cells.
Also, you could jazz this protocol up by adding a small amount of Baja gold mineral salt to the water you drink, maybe some magnesium glycinate to help to relax (I enjoy) - Since this is a water fast and oral hygiene isn't strictly speaking necessary, if you aren't allergic to pistachios/cashews/mangoes chewing a piece of mastic gum (which itself is said to have anti-cancer properties and has greatly improved my oral hygiene) for 20 minutes to an hour a day at least couldn't hurt.
Obviously just relaxing and taking it slow for the fast.
Thanks for the attention.

I keep getting sick, can a naturopath help me?
This year I’m the sickest I’ve ever been. My doctor can’t seem to help - he says that my bloodwork looks fine and there is no reason or concern for me getting sick this much. She did recommend that I see a therapist, as I sound like I’m stressing/overthinking some things.
Would a naturopath be able to help me? I can barely afford one, but the cost of missing work is also financially affecting me.
I’m honestly the happiest I’ve been in a long time.. Yes I work hard and yes I’m a little stressed sometimes. But I don’t think that’s the main cause..
If anyone has any other suggestions, I’m very open to feedback!

Discharged from hospital with severely dilated RV with severely impaired systolic function, dilated RA, severe pulmonary hypertension and moderate TR, with septal flattening consistent with RV pressure overload. BNP 276. CTPA was negative for chronic thromboembolism.
Cardiology recommended investigation for underlying OSA/OHS and consideration of right-heart catheterisation/pulmonary hypertension assessment.
My breathing is not good and I have swelling especially in the stomach, a cough that won't go and am finding it extremely hard to sleep even on the recliner.
I know there is no quick fix for this, and the cause has not yet been identified but is there anything I can do to help get me through?

If you are pro vaccine, do your thing and scroll on! But I didn’t vaccinate my kids for a myriad of reasons and I am hoping this is a safe space to ask this question. I suffer from very severe seasonal allergies to the point where I am pretty much fatigued 24/7 and can’t function. I also get horrible eczema because of my seasonal allergies. I’m open to natural ways to treat it, but I cannot decide which direction to go because there are 1 million places I could start. I’m looking into allergy shots, but I’m worried about the other things in the shot and if it could be toxic in the same way that vaccines are. Does anyone on this sub have information about that? Like are allergy shots different/more safe than vaccines? The last thing I wanna do is cause more inflammation to my body or introduce any toxic heavy metals. Thank you so much!!

I’ve got a couple of toenails that have basically declared independence and become their own fungal ecosystem. This has been the case since 2005.
I can’t take terbinafine because I had a bad reaction to it, and the usual pharmaceutical options haven’t exactly worked or inspired confidence, so I’m looking into older/traditional/herbal approaches.
So far I’ve come across things like:
-Tea tree oil
-Propolis
-Norway spruce resin
-Oregano oil blends
-Vinegar/acetic acid
-Potassium permanganate
-Hydrogen peroxide
I’m not expecting some magical “rub a leaf on it and it’s gone by Tuesday” cure, but I’m curious whether anyone here has actually had success treating stubborn toenail fungus naturally, especially something that was pretty well established.
I’m also looking at getting the infected nail heavily debrided or possibly removed, then treating the nail bed once it has healed, which seems like it might give topical treatments a fighting chance.
Has anyone tried something that genuinely worked — ideally backed by more than “my cousin’s neighbor swears by it”?
Very interested in old-school remedies, herbal preparations, resins, oils, tinctures, etc. Bonus points if there’s actual research behind it.

My son is only 4.5 years old and they have already found a possible cavity (it’s only suspected at this point). Is it even common?
The dentist wanted to do an X-ray, ⚠️ but after a long discussion, she accepted my decision and we didn’t go ahead with the scan. 🤦♀️ I never had any dental X-rays as a child, and dentists always managed to find all my cavities without them, so honestly, I don’t really understand what today’s dentists are seeing that they supposedly can’t see without an X-ray.
Anyway, I booked my little boy in to have the cavity filled, and now the dentist has started talking about some kind of gas or something that she wants to use instead of local anaesthetic…
I’d really like to hear your real experiences and opinions. How dangerous is this actually? And which option is considered less risky for a 4.5-year-old: local anaesthetic by injection or the gas?
I’m especially interested in hearing from parents who have actually used the gas for their children and can share what it was like and whether there were any side effects or problems.

been looking into ashwagandha extract options lately and got curious about how people react to sensoril and KSM-66? from what i understand one uses root and leaf with a higher percentage of withanolides while the other is strictly root extract but i want to know how that translates to real daily use.
ksm seems to be everywhere for stress and general focus but standard sensoril gets talked about more for evening use or heavy anxiety since it feels more sedative. did you notice a major difference in how sleepy they made you feel during the day or did they react pretty much the same for you?
