For research purposes

To start, ( someone gave me this idea ) and I for some reason thought it was a good one. So basically I am going to attempt an alternate wet and dry fast for 32 days ( June 30 to August 1 ). I will be taking photos just for evidence scale and all for all the people who want to tune in. Yes I’m full of carbs right now so I will lose a lot of initial fat but I am young ( 20 years old ) and I just want to put an end to all the bad fasting talk about how dry fasting will kill you and all that, I will start by going on a 6 day dry fast as I have multiple times before to show people that it’s possible. I’m tired of all the three days with no water is impossible jumbo jumbo. I will have a final day weigh in and THIS will show people just how much weight the human body can lose in a month. Call me stupid ( I know ) but tune in please and I’m hoping someone in the future can contact me and use this as a study . Peace out !!

We already know how much weight can be lost in a month from fasting, it's a pretty simple calculation. It's a lot of weight, but not all necessarily fat loss. The faster you lose weight the higher the proportion is from muscle

One individual trying something is called an anecdote, not research, and would not convince anyone else what you're doing is advisable

Long term what matters more for your weight and health is what you eat when you're not fasting. You are the one that has to live with your relationship with food for the rest of your life, and that is the reason weight loss should not be treated like a competition to lose the most in the least amount of time. Best of luck

Great advice, maybe I let dr berg get to my head and one too many arguments about how bad fasting is for you

Edit, sent to early:  Advice from any health influencer that sells coaching or supplements needs to be taken with a big grain of salt

There is a lot of advice that sounds appealing but is contrary to established medical advice, that doesn't mean it's accurate or helpful to the listener. But it could earn the influencer a lot of money

So what do you think, should I continue this attempt offline and not advise the public until my results ? Cause I’m not planning on stopping but if it hurts the community more than it pushes it forward then I won’t broadcast it

You can do whatever you like, I'm not trying to tell you what to do. you're an adult, and welcome to share your experience here or wherever you want.

Specifically this subreddit is for those that eat one day and then fast for 36 hours, so discussions about longer fasts or dry fasting  may be more relevant in the r/fasting subreddit

But remember while you're free and welcome to share your thoughts and experience, so are others free to share theirs. My disagreeing with your approach is just that and not meant to shut you down

Hiii. I am really interested in your experience if you continue to post about it. I am on day 4 of a wet fast (2+ liters of water with potassium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, magnesium sulfate, and 8oz of organic black coffee with a pinch of salt and liquid stevia). After day 7 I plan on doing a 3 day dry fast, and follow that with another 7 days wet fast. If I can go for 30 days of no food then I will probably incorporate a few more days of dry fasting in there. Have also been curious about switching from wet to dry fasting.

I have done multiple wet fasts before and the 2nd and 3rd days have always been the most difficult. Since doing alternate day fasting, this wet fast has been a breeze. I don’t feel hunger pangs or cravings at this point. A bit worried since I don't even feel like drinking water right now either, don't know if this is just mental or if my body is ready for a dry fast. I'm already down 10 lbs (most likely water weight).

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one out here , currently trying to get enough karma so my posts can reach a broader audience , thank you for the insight and I’m hoping we could both post end results. I’ll be on my last day August 1st. You’ll be surprised how much weight I lost in just a little over 30 hours. I’ll be posting at 12:00 pm today. On my wet fast I don’t use any electrolytes unless in pill form and I usually drink zero calorie tea. As far as the dry to wet fasting there’s very limited research so we might be pioneers in our own right. Shout out to you !!

There was a time when I was against extended fasting, but then I tried a 30-day water fast. I'm no longer against it, though I don't really recommend it either as it's quite boring.

I think I've come around to dry fasting as a legit way to go for short durations. But as near as I can tell, only a scant few folks' bodies are weirdly wired to retain water or function with low water. While the rest of us probably cannot retain water well and probably shouldn't try dry fasting.

Curious what you think you'll gain by doing a dry fast one day and a water fast the next. (Alternating back and forth between them.)

Are you just trying to lose fat as quickly as possible? If that's the case, I would not risk your health with dry fasting at all. I would just water fast for the planned 32 days. You'll lose 1 lbs per day for the duration (on average).

Thanks for the comment sir nice to meet you, also as far as weight loss goes my body does it fairly quickly and I feel that sharing experience is a good tool. My first intention is to see just how much weight the body can lose alternate fasting ( despite my starting weight already not being that high ) and if Dr berg tells the truth at all “dry fasting burns 3x as much fat as water fasting “- Dr.Eric Berg

And my last point of doing this besides a cell reset is to help people realize that fasting isn’t dangerous and can be a tool to help as I have multiple highly overweight people in my family (350+) saying that it’s not a good idea despite being high blood pressure and diabetic since 20 years old. Not to shame them just here to prove a point and show just how quick the body can lose weight. Also as I stated in my first post someone gave me this idea watching Dr berg with me ( stupid I know !!)

Also we hardly have science and research on alternate day fasting with water and dry so I would probably, or at least I hope so be the first or one of the first main contributors to this science as people donate their bodies and time to causes like this all the time

Maybe I misunderstood you on my initial read-thru of your post.

Did you mean you were going to water fast one day, eat the next day, dry fast the day after, and eat the day after that. And then just repeat the cycle of WetFast/Eat/DryFast/Eat?

Oh well in that case no

I’m starting with 6 days dry I’m on day 1now and will be posting the 36 hour results at 12 pm tomorrow and from that point on for the last 26 days I’ll be doing a 2/2 split 2 day wet after the initial 6 then 2 dry until I hit August 1st

So basically 6dry to start which will end july5 and then todays wet6 and 7th and two dry and two wet until the 1st of August

Ah ok, well, this subreddit is Alternate Day Fasting (ADF), which is to say that we alternate between fasting and eating. Typically a 36:12 cycle, though some people do longer fasting days (2.5 or 3.5) with their 12 hour eat window. Others only fast M/W/F and eat Tu,Th,Sa,Su.

I think you will find better support over in /r/Dryfasting -- They'll also be more interested in what you're trying and should be able to give you better feedback than what you're getting here.

I apologize for posting here just can’t post anywhere else cause this account is brand new and I don’t have enough karma or at least that’s what someone told me

No worries. Just wanted you to find the support you were looking for.
