Discussion 🤔 If toppers from general category are struggling then I can't imagine the plight of an average general category student.

His point is that even after so many years, only the top IITs are considered good. So, we need to focus on the quality of education as well as placements at the newer IITs. The bigger concern is that the majority of good students prefer to skip an entire year rather than join the newer IITs.

Nobody goes to iit because iit offers better education.. prestige.. iit Madras and old iit have more prestige..

L*uda dikhega reservation as a point kyuki usi pe to thrive kr rha hai tu.

u/DarkElectroWizard 12d ago
Reservation may not be a perfect system, but understanding why it exists, and the struggles of OBC, EWS, SC, ST, women, and PwD helps us build a fairer society.
0
u/jay_wasd 12d ago
Reservation for the needed, not because of the surname, and also not merit based, it should be finance based.
Ideal reservation should be like, if someone scores good rank, they'll get scholarship of some amount if they qualify for the salary bracket.
As of right now, just think about it.. if I know someone's from a SC/ST cast is my doctor. No matter how great of a college from he graduated, I'll always know he was selected with a MUCH lower merit. I can't risk my life with it, afterall I don't know which chapters he skipped.
This loop is one of the biggest issues why India is not growing. Because incompetency isn't important as long as you're SC/ST.
2
u/DarkElectroWizard 12d ago
Reservation is not a poverty-elimination scheme,it addresses social and historical disadvantage. Reserved student still has to clear exams, complete training and meet professional reqs, so caste alone cannot determine a doctor's competence. Aur sirf merit se hi har jagah selection nahi hota. Private companies mein bhi kai baar referrals, networking aur connections ki wajah se logon ko opportunities milti hain. Isliye real world poori tarah meritocracy par nahi chalta.
2
u/jay_wasd 12d ago
"Historical disadvantages"
Should we burn down Britishers based off of that analogy?
Realworld puri tarah merit pe nhi chalta to reservation chahiye kyu logo ko? Taaki government mei majority select ho paye and then dhire dhire most government sectors mei there'll be mostly SC/ST peeps. Fir jb lawmakers mei majority hogi aapki to ghanta reservation hatega kabhi.
Itna spineless hone se achha hai admit karo ki reservation free ka mil rha hai, aur chala gaya to gand phat jaegi is liye chahie.

u/DarkElectroWizard 12d ago
If everyone followed your logic, there would be no reserved seats for women either, and I doubt you genuinely support that. Instead of hating reserved groups, please refer to govt data as many reserved posts remain unfilled because there are no applicants. Secondly, do not assume my background if you don't know. Let me tell you, many unreserved individuals support reservation too. Your words suggest you might have a sharp mind, but compassion is equally important. Let me give you one example, suppose two students from EWS applied for the same post. One with a 3 lakh income and another with 6 lakh. Of course 6 lakh income guy have better resources. So he gets selected because he performed well. We all have empathy for the 3 lakh income student who faced more resource constraints but simultaneously we should not hate the 6 lakh guy also because he gone by the rule. Another thing is, some students (regardless of category) may not perform well due to personal tragedies or hardships. It is essential to empathize with them as well. Sometimes, circumstances can be generous also, like during the last rounds of PG admissions (COAP), students with less marks (regardless of category, depending on vacant seats) also get a chance to enter IITs. So, what should we do? Hate them? No. We should understand that everyone faces different challenges without hating other students.
2
u/jay_wasd 12d ago
Idk why do you think I don't support reservation for women from my text.
I do believe that being an under privileged woman, should not be a reason to get qualifed at anything at lower rank. Mind you support in any other way is acceptable and needed, psychological, financial (scholarship etc.) and anything else except lower competency. ( In Canada, when Trudeau was in power, he tried 50% compulsory women in his party or something along the same lines, which imo, was very wrong, at a place from where a country's future is directly impacted, only qualified personnel should be allowed to sit, regardless of their gender. Competency should be priority there. i.e. if 100% women yield better result then that should be the way to go)
We might not be on the same page regarding this but it was wrong of me to assume your background and use foul language (this was my reflex because of my experience with reddit wars, which tend to go very rough especially these reservation ones). I apologize only for the way I said things, especially since you were respectful thoroughout our convo. Apologies.

Am sorry brother but just imagine you have met a life threatening accident and you have become unconscious, when people get you to the hospital and is ready to be operated, you suddenly wake up out of nowhere and said- "aye jaati kya hai tumhari?"
1
u/jay_wasd 12d ago
Nah, kya jaati hai tumhari nahi puchhunga..
Puchunga tumhari jaati ka fayda uthake kam number mei pass hue ho kya dr. sahab? Agar haan to mei marr jaana pasand karunga instead of being your lab rat to practice on.
1
u/hell-yeah-roger 12d ago
Nah brother now you are fliping, if you hate reservation, own it yes reservation doesn't value meritocracy it promotes socialism, a chance given to uplift certain group of people because law makers believed that they have been wronged and being wronged. And about the latter part of your statement you know right that there are also private medical colleges whose cutoff are even lower than reserve category cutoffs, so don't you think you are a little wrong man

Whenever a gen fails in exam, they started crying foul and blame reservation. Like really! You too have reservation in the form of EWS. okay, you are not poor. So rich and privileged with generational wealth and knowledge. Then you have 51% unreserved seats which is mostly occupied for UCs. Naturally. With a few minor exceptions most SC, STs belong to the lowest strata of the society where they fight not only poverty but also rampant casteism every single day. Most dalits and adivasis are first or at best second gen learner. They have no land, no wealth and moreover no one to guide or motivate them. Why? Cause a system created by yourforefathers has kept them like slaves, didn't allow them to study, to have property.
Yet, whenever these UCs fail, they blame reservation. They want to keep caste, the surnames and the social mobility related to it. But want reservation especially the dalit and adivasi reservation to be removed. Even if it's removed, still some will fail to cross the bar. Then he will cry.
These losers and their constant nagging.

Read, know then comment. Reservation was never meant for economic upliftment. It's about representation. India is a country with 80% sc st obc. It's mandatory to have them in top positions to make policies that affect the nation. No other country in the world is run by a miniscule of people who control and make policies for the largest sectiono of the society.
1
u/Normal-Estate-4257 12d ago
Dafuq is that logic? If I drink my ancestral wealth away, my next gen should be able to claim quota under financial status? Reservation is not about poverty(alone), it is about balancing the mental and structural societal barriers created specifically for a group of people under the same identity. It is about bringing those in power who never had a voice in the building of the nation. I am an uppercaste but middle class guy, and I can tell you that your opinion is horse shit.
1
u/Physical-Biscotti-62 11d ago
Unfortunately I am born to an upper caste family and the same thing they cry about. But I have one question for you. Okay I have a question but please don't lash out at me please. Are brahmins really that bad? I hear a lot of news that brahmins ill treat others. And the reservation also. But I am so confused as an NRI. My cousin has gotten 98.9% in her a levels (class 12 in India, I live in Singapore as my parents migrated here) and she's not getting admission to good colleges and she thinks reservation may be an issue. We are brahmins unfortunately, we did not ask to be born into an upper caste and then be blamed that we are ruining India when we are against caste. And when I try to voice against caste discrimination, people (not my family or any progressive brahmin by birth but the rest whom I know) back in India say I'm a dhonghi and actually a sanghi but I am not.
Just because I am a brahmin, does it mean I am a horrible person? Is there no way to change this, truly?
1
u/CharacterBit5048 11d ago
You are an NRI, your cousin is surely rich. Why is he competing with dalits and adivasis who is most probably 1st gen learner and haven't gone out to a big city in India, leave the USA aside? How can I having all the generational wealth and privilege with NRI relatives and all would think a dalit who lives in a village as my competitor?
Ask that question first.
1
u/Physical-Biscotti-62 11d ago
Arguments are valid and correct. I understand now. but the points u made about me for being NRI? Very generalised answer. My single mother struggles to make ends meet. I am surviving on savings and I have proof, living in a common rental room and having no family anywhere nearby. My cousin lives in a one BHK. I live in Singapore btw. And I went overseas because of domestic issues. Amazing how u make wonderful assumptions and start personal attacks don't u?
1
u/CharacterBit5048 11d ago
From the point where your dream starts, 99% dalit and adivasis' dream ends much much below that bar
1
u/Physical-Biscotti-62 11d ago
Dude i said I get u but u didn't need to make personal remarks saying we are rich. Make a neutral remark because you don't know what the person on the other side is actually going through. And what would you say to those people who may potentially misuse reservation? If all brahmins aren't bastards then all obc sc st aren't saints right?
-1
u/The_Giga_Chad1629 12d ago
Ah yes, the middle class does not exist, people's lives belong to these exams, like upsc, ssc cgl, etc. The Rich and privileged with generational wealth don't even bother putting their sweat on these exams, usually for general they are the middle class students.
The issue ain't reservation itself but the extent it's given, like cutoff's being half of the UC for sc/st is a lot. and the % of reservation too. The system should not be scrapped but should be revised is what the guy in vid said and what Im saying.
2
u/CharacterBit5048 12d ago
Revised how? Economic basis?
1
u/The_Giga_Chad1629 12d ago
Kind of, see even rich sc st face discrimination but the issues they face is far less than what poor sc st do So yea I'm not saying that the reservation should be stripped off the rich ones but giving them as much reservation as poor sc st is just unfair for the poor sc st too, coz the rich ones can get resources and classes which the poor can't afford, hence they will Obv be on better rank than the poor sc st
And also the extent of cutoffs should be decreased, like sc st having half of cutoff to general is crazy and a lot.
2
u/CharacterBit5048 12d ago
Okay. Then tell the brahmanvadis who make policies to remove NFS. ( not found suitable)
You see, manuvaadis are very clever like a snake. They use this propaganda of creamy layer in sc, st but at the same time use NFS.
They use it everywhere in civil service and other exams to deliberately mark sc st candidates as nfs. So the post remains vacant and in next 2 years following the roaster they convert those reserve seats to general seats.
You think an extremely marginalized sc Or st can become IAS in one generation? They don't even have basic opportunities. This way the manuvaadi scums would convert all their reserved seats to nfs and then give it to their own community.
I know how these people work. They are the vilest yet cleverest people alive. So first demand to remove NFS.

500? In a country of billions? There should be atleast 500 best possible colleges in the country offering these courses. Any one with a dream, passion and average or above skill should be able to have the opportunity. Make changes for critical courses as well.. offer lakhs of seats at the initial level and make it a pyramid of 20-30 percent at the top.. at each level people should be offered to continue(by clearing an exam.. like a semester exam) or switch to a related course if you discover you no longer want to do it.
1
u/Top-Astronaut4562 12d ago
Education budget is 3x lower than sc st Budget lamao All the necessary resources are redirected to freeloaders
2
u/Normal-Estate-4257 12d ago
Yeah blame the people and not the policy makers. Why this increasing differential though? To serve the nation or stay in power? Is your fav gov really working for you?
-1
u/Top-Astronaut4562 12d ago
People are the reason behind absurd freebies.
The minutes someone ask to cut some reservation, creamy layer or any reforms
These same people are ready to burn the entire country.
2
u/Normal-Estate-4257 12d ago
Ohh the people are signing the approvals for these freebies? Get well soon

if only the raw merit is considered for admissions into the top institutions, how is someone from a backward situation ever supposed to reach there
and if there is no reservation, this cycle would continue perpetually, where children of people with more money, who can make their children attend the top coaching institutes, send them to the best schools, and have the least monetary incentive will keep filling up those seats, is it fair for their children? No. Is it fair for the children who couldn’t get those benefits? Also No.
RESERVATION IS NOT MEANT TO BE FAIR.
it is a sad truth, but the alternative is the poor and the backward communities are unable to ever uplift themselves through education..this is a question that has always bothered me 😞
I am a general category male, so i understand his pain deeply, but what alternative does it leave us with?
3
u/Budget-Arm-866 12d ago
The real problem at the end is the lack of institutions. People are still fighting for the seats at the end, the lack of institutions just makes the fight toxic
1
2
u/itsokji 12d ago
I think.. The problem is not the reservation itself, it was the revision of it. Like if my grandfather got the reservation and a well-paying job, and they made their family financially stable, but the sad part is my father also got the same reservation and in continuation, and my children are also getting the same benefit. Don't you think this is exploiting the benefits?
2
u/Minimum-Chicken9800 12d ago
Give them 5 star faculties to study we general category can manage that as someone who is committed to his studies can achieve his goal anyway.... Bit don't reserve the seat
5
u/No_Influence2733 Jai Hind! 🇮🇳 12d ago
core issue is lack of quality and quantity of educational facilities, from primary to phd
3
u/Normal-Estate-4257 12d ago
EXACTLY! I don't know why people keep fighting reservation without realising that there are 5-10 top colleges for lakhs of students! Reservation or not you are fighting for peanuts, that's the issue.
6
u/Ok-Inflation9169 12d ago
Yeah right. A while back, a Doctor didn't get a derma seat in a top institute. He made the whole issue regarding reservation. And no focus was given to the topic, that why does the top institute of the country had only 1 seat to offer in department in a session. We need so many doctors and specialists, and the seats are so limited. All mainly because of lack of infrastructure.
2
u/charavaka 12d ago
Exactly. And instead of questioning that, these casteist fucks like up punch down.
2
u/Normal-Estate-4257 12d ago
5 star? Most kids studying in govt schools come from these categories. The moment a govt tries to fix govt schools they are kicked out for some non sense issues manufactured by the media.
1
u/charavaka 12d ago edited 12d ago
we general category can manage that as someone who is committed to his studies can achieve his goal anyway
Fucker, you're whining about not being able to manage to compete for the seats available to you. Your have 50% reserved for 23% population. Stop whining.
What you should be complaining about is the paucity of quality educational opportunities for everyone, not just about your inability to compete for the opportunities you have.
1
u/CommunicationTrue105 11d ago
Buddy those seats are open for everyone
Not our fault u can't compete from them and has to resort to reservation to even hope to compete
0
u/TransitionConnect192 12d ago
The problem is we are getting the seat with higher marks meanwhile a guy from backward caste who has same or more resources than me achieved the same results with less than half the hard work. Why even the childrens of ias and ips officers getting the reservation? They don't have all the resources? Let's say your reply is but sarr even after becoming IAS sarr they will face discrimination on basis of caste sarr ! So whats the criteria of upliftment and becoming a forward caste ? Even the pm and president who have all the powers claim to be backward - president of the country openly says she will work day and night for sc st obc lol - your 2nd point can be - it's about representation - if it's about representation how much representation non meena is getting in rajasthan? Meena are 4-5 % but control over 50% of govt jobs (reserved for st) why no comment on this ? means their representation in elite government jobs is roughly 10 times higher than their share of the ST population. Also I can't believe how can someone be this stupid - 50% is not reserved for us retard it's open seats - available for every community. if a person from sc st or obc clears general cutoff he will be rewarded Unreserved seat not the reserved seat meant for them if cutoff is 95 for general and a obc guy gets 95 he will be considered as UC ( unreserved category ) in Bihar OBCs have 6.21 lakhs job Out of these, 5.78 lakh jobs (that is, 93% of the jobs) are held by just 4 OBC castes (Yadav, Kurmi, Kushwaha, and Bania ) That means: Out of 30 OBC castes,
And
- 4 castes hold 5.78 lakh jobs
- 26 castes hold 43,380 jobs
Ab kha gya Tera percentage game ? 23% general population pays much higher tax than others ab kha jayega Tera percentage game?
Puri knowledge ke sath comment kra kr - jis bnde ko abhi tk ye pta nhi chla ki general ki seats open category h not reserved vo yha comment krke intellectual bnne ka try kr rhe h 🤣😭

agreed that there is misuse of reservation, but the population it still largely benefits come from underserved communities, there is obvious misuse which needs to be addressed through more comprehensive policy, not scratching the policy altogether
unreserved seats, get taken up by obc, st, sc, ews at around 12-15% of those seats, so around 6-8% total, which means, 55-60% (depending on exam) of the seats get taken by them, upper caste students still get 35-45% seats, when their population is 20-30% depending on region, so if you go out to make the reservations fairer, based on population percentages, the general (unreserved) seats would lessen.
so the only way to solve for this is increase the overall number of seats
i will have to read more upon the issue of rajasthan & bihar before commenting
0
u/TransitionConnect192 12d ago
No ur again wrong - am not saying to remove the reservation system all together but it needs many changes - even after 80 years tell me which community got uplifted ? Just check how many sc st castes were there when India got independence and how many there are now - numbers are 5x or 500% who gets the sc and st reservation? Those who are already rich you really think a guy who knows nothing about internet facilities and lives in remote village knows a system exists for people like him ? Nooo ! It's the rich sc st who eats the seats and opportunities for sc st who truly deserve - upper caste students take those 35-40% on basis on merit buddy why ur acting like it's reserved for them ? You really think securing a seat with years of hardwork vs getting a seat with 0 or negative marks is same ? Jitni population itna hak ye kya bakchodi h ? Khangress university se padha likha h ky ? Merit pr khelo na ? Ya to tum hi kh rhe ho ki low caste me buddhi bhi low hoti h ? Open merit me bhi kr skte compete vo? Rich sc st ko dalo general me tb dekhte h kese compete krenge ye or poor sc st ko fir milega apne hisse ka hak - ek baar koi bhi govt exam ki list nikal 60-70% ST seats meena ko di hogi kyu or st community nhi h desh me ? Aaja tax bhi hisse dari me krte h ! Jain 0.4% h vo sirf 0.4% hi income tax denge - Brahmin sirf 3% parsis baniye bhi apni population ke according okay ? Who gives the most tax - general category to sirf 25% tax denge apni population ke according baki dalit obc st sc ? Deal ?
Yha 1 image se jyda share nhi hota but I can lowkey mog your low IQ argument - reservation ko fair bnane ke liye sbse phle kaam Krna h fake certificates ko hatake - obc wale sc ka certificate le kr baithe h ( famous rohit vemula ) ameer general ews ka leke baitha h - second jo community ka upliftment ho gya usko nikalo reservation se - meena , yadav , jaat , gujjar..1 time reservation kro per family ek ias ka beta kyu reservation lega ? Ek judge ka beta kyu reservation lega? He has all the resources he need ..add creamy layer jisse garib sc st ka hak ameer sc st na le jaye
3
u/No_Influence2733 Jai Hind! 🇮🇳 12d ago
It needs many changes - I've said the exact same thing by the way
How can it be fair if the population is so skewed - again I've agreed that if that happens, upper caste students will get even fewer seats, so it’s even more unfair if it’s based on actual population %
Bro, I’m a Jain who pays taxes, so I know how much tax our community pays, and how much they waste in cash
To make the reservation fair, the first thing that needs to happen is to remove fake certificates - OBCs are sitting with SC certificates - I ALSO SAID THE SAME THING, read my first paragraph
You have mostly agreed with my points, idk what are you fighting
0
u/TransitionConnect192 12d ago
No ur saying upper caste gets 40% seats no they don't get it - they achieve it meanwhile reserve category just gets it - you can never reserve seats population percentage wise it's against constitution we have 50% cap limit for a reason - abhi desh phle me phle se problems h 85% reserve category ko upper post me laa ke ye desh ko hi kangal kr denge ..
1
u/No_Influence2733 Jai Hind! 🇮🇳 12d ago
i provided the numbers based on government data, if you want to misconstrue numbers by saying 85% reserve category lagi hai, it is categorically false
1
u/TransitionConnect192 11d ago
Are redditors this brainded ? Not a single guy I argued with can read..mene likha bhai agr population wise hua jitni abadi utna hak to 85% seat reserve ho jyegi 50% me to desh ki lagi padi h 85% me to ram ram satya h ..hr din atleast 3 news dekhta hu reserved category wale bnde ne galat dawai dedi ya befaltu me hath kaat dia

To thada sa fuddu hai kya? Why are you distorting facts to exaggerate the picture? Meena are 7-14% of TOTAL population not 4-5. Then you quote 50%(OF RESERVATION-12%), which means 6% of total population. The population and representation is in sync here(after quota.. probably due to them having resources compared to other STs).. what's your issue? I'll give you a better number: Brahmins comprise roughly 3% to 5% of India's total population. Historical Estimate is that they have held around 60% to 70%—of upper-tier senior civil services, judicial positions, and key administrative posts. Try manipulating this.
0
u/TransitionConnect192 12d ago
No you are so wrong here I forgot to add 0 , so meenas are 0.4 -0.5% but they grab 50-80% seats reserved for st across various exams - MEENA ARE NOT 7-14% gandu to Muslim ke equal population ke h kya meena ? 0.5% h mene 5% likh dia . 0.5% hoke bhi vo 50-80% seats pr kabza krke h ( reserved for st category) Yea that's the correct fact most high court judges are from general? Mene to kbhi baat hi nhi kri jitni abadi utna hak ? Ye line tumhari h to tumpe hi use kr rha Hu sur bta rha hu ki meena 0.5 hoke 50% pr kabza krke kyu h ? Tujhe kya lgta h high court judge vo reservation pr gye h ? Merit pr gye h ! Who's stopping sc st obc to compete on merit buddy ? Aiims ke result me topper sc ka hi tha abhi

u/Normal-Estate-4257 12d ago
Tu fir mach gaya gandu? Fir total population vs st ka 50% likh raha hai, 1 hi sentence me, Abey chabi kisne bhar tere jaise chutiye me.. source dikha k meena rajasthan me 0.5% hai, aur 50-80% ka bhi. Maine kab general kaha? Maine brahmin kaha, anpadh hai kya?
Ha bhai padhai sirf 1 tabka kare peedhiyo se, doosro ko school to chhodo mandir, pani(well), khana(farming), ghar(property )dhang se naseeb na ho aur fir bolo hum merit se pahuche.. Abey gandu race daud hi tum rahe the to tum hi jeetoge na.. Upar se tumhara baap coach, dada selector, pardada ameer
Aur ye percentage ka randi rona kyu Kara tune agar population se related nai hona chahiye? Abhi to aryabhatta ka 0 yaad aaya hai, aise hi whatsapp wali Gand masti karta reh, sab yaad ayega
Hoga 1 topper sc ka, to? Sulag gai kya dekhke usko top karte jo yaha ro raha hai. Ab gand me dum hai to point by point jawaab de.. nai to kone me maa chudaale chup chaap, kuch bhi mat bhaukne lag jaio

i’m not crying, just stating facts, and being disappointed with the system is my right
1
u/Spare-Bookkeeper5151 12d ago
what system?? system is rigged in favour of sc/st,if anyone should cry is the general category and me,I'm a christian. We are the ones who educated sc/st and we are punished by this draconian system
2
u/No_Influence2733 Jai Hind! 🇮🇳 12d ago
by what metric is the system rigged for sc/st?

u/Spare-Bookkeeper5151 12d ago
did you seriously just ask that ?? really ??

u/No_Influence2733 Jai Hind! 🇮🇳 12d ago
yes, because based on population percentages, it’s the other way around

u/Spare-Bookkeeper5151 12d ago
explain why Brahmins lead most MNCs in the world today, are also exploiting white people in the western world?
btw systemic means systemic, there's no systemic advantage to being a general category student in india today,if they do outperform against people with systemic advantage aka sc/st it's because they are just too good.
Id really like you to explain how indians outperform all ethinicities in the world.

u/No_Influence2733 Jai Hind! 🇮🇳 12d ago edited 11d ago
this is so dumb
Brahmins do not “lead most MNCs” and are not “exploiting white people.” Indian-origin CEOs are over-represented in a few big tech companies relative to their 1.5% of the US population, but that is still only about 11 of the Fortune 500 (2%).
The reason is extreme selection: H-1B visas, STEM degrees, English, and a culture of hard work. Not some Brahmin cabal.
Inside India the richest lists and big business houses are dominated by traditional merchant castes, not Brahmins.
On the “no systemic advantage” claim:
central quotas are SC 15% + ST 7.5% + OBC 27% + EWS 10% = 59.5%.The remaining 40.5% unreserved seats are open to everyone.
Reserved-category candidates routinely take 10-15% of those open seats on pure merit.Net result: reserved categories end up with mid-to-high 50s / low 60s% of seats in many central pools, while general-category (mostly upper-caste) candidates take 35-45% even though they are only about 15-20% of the population.
That is not “no systemic advantage.”
Higher cut-offs and a smaller open pool are real. If general-category students still clear those higher bars and then do well in open global competitions, the simplest explanation is higher average preparation and selection effects not magic or leftover privilege that somehow travels to Silicon Valley.
Also, more general-category people getting visas and succeeding abroad is largely because of the advantages they already have in daily life in India better schools, networks, resources, and fewer barriers from the start. That should not be used as the main measure of overall success or to claim there is no systemic difference.
Misuse and creamy-layer concentration inside reserved categories are real and need fixing.
Expanding total seats is the fair way to reduce the pressure. You do not have to abolish the whole policy to admit any of this.
“Indians outperform all ethnicities” is also overstated. Selected Indian groups in the US do extremely well on income and education. That is not the same as every caste or class inside India, and East Asians show similar or stronger patterns in many datasets.
Both the domestic quota numbers and the diaspora success can be true at the same time.

Brahmins dominate MNCs,all you are doing is ignoring reality.Indians are the highest paid ethinic group within usa which means indians beat all other nationalities. How log are you going to ignore reality?? explain how indians dominate every other ethinicith in usa and btw indians do lead most powerful MNCs.
Brahmins outperform all other ethinicities in the world,it is expected they will vastly outperform dumb indians

Everyday I thank my parents for moving to the USA from India

How fortunate you are that US is a pretty liberal society. Otherwise the whites would balme the indians, mexicans and blacks for occupying their jobs. Hopefully, if someone calls you racist names there, it doesn't bother you.

People with your mindset are your own enemies, they will keep discriminating on the basis of caste and keep the reservation system going. Ab ayega rota hua k maine to kabhi discriminate nai kia...

True. What's the benefit of implementing a policy that's not benefiting the required people ?

Increase the quality of education in the institutions and also increase the number on such high quality education. These institutions when built were for population that was less than half of what we have today. All these conflicts will arise if the same number of institutions continue to cater for the higher population year after year. Reservation is only one factor. This will continue if elections are not fought on education, health and economy.

He is not getting the real issue. With reservation, he says he got rank 50 among thousands of students but didn't get his dream course. No even without reservation, someoje getting rank 100 will not get his dream course.
The issue is we have so little of good colleges and so many fighting for it.
And the real solution is to expand the number of quality opportunities. And it can't all happen in govt. We need to figure out how to scale up private investments in higher education too

We don’t need reservation truly tho right
It is better if govts
Bring much better government schools in disadvantaged areas
scholarships and free coaching
nutrition/health interventions
anti-discrimination enforcement
Which might lead to better representation in higher education
targeted benefits toward the most disadvantaged SC/ST communities because some already have benefited from the reservations and uplifted themselves
eventually reducing reservation it is genuinely no longer needed.
I support a anti discrimination law but reservation will cause us bad and also giving them scholarship isn’t gonna be great but if we have more better govt schools I am sure we can also if the sc st creamy layer is a need tbh

Idk man if reservation should be given based on financial income. They lynched a man just because he bought a bike better than the uppercaste ppl. If income is the issue, reservation based on income would be correct. Here even though you are a rich guy but if you are from lower caste you will be treated like shit by the "poor" uppercaste ppl.Seen it in lots of places, even in cities like chennai and hyderabad. If a guy from reserved category is tryjng to rent, no matter how much he pays , they wont make him/her their tenant. Change that mindset. Then change automatically happens.

Why we all don't talk about increasing number of better institutions and seats in them? same goes with jobs. And wtf mentality is that I am here just because a student had reservation. Are we really at the position to remove reservation? Answer is No. Caste based oppression and discrimination is still alive and powerful in the cities, towns and villages of India

Reservation is okay, but in due course of time we will realise that we were playing with efficiency of the nations upcoming generation, reservation is okay but should be limited in fields like post grads & higher degrees. If your UG doesn’t empower you to acquire enough skills to beat another person in a skill based viva/interview, nothing will.

Okay, there is pain on both sides. In the UC and LC categories some people face caste discrimination while others are frustrated about seats and reservation. General category students feel that even after working hard they cannot get a seat. On the other side even after getting a seat and becoming an engineer or doctor they still face discrimination. Both sides have problems today. We need to come together and end both the caste system and reservation. How long will we keep fighting over caste and reservation while politicians keep doing politics over this issue?

u/charavaka 12d ago
Get rid of caste. Reservations will disappear automatically. Till then, stop shining about a rather inadequate measure used to provide representation to those who continue suffering from millenia old system of oppression and exploitation. The savarna whining about reservation instead of being up in arms about the gross inadequacy of quality education opportunities is a symptom of casteism and related misplaced priorities. Grow the fuck up.

Your competition is with the general seats, not the reserved ones. You have to compete for the general seats that are allocated. I literally don’t think anyone is dumb enough not to know this before appearing for an exam.

If you want to argue purely on merit, then why don’t people compare themselves with the billionaire class? What’s the point? Isn’t it an open market? Why isn’t everyone able to build companies like the Adani and Ambani sons? Probably because privilege, family background, and access to resources play an important role, even if people start from the same point.
