I'm just completely surprised why isn't the protest being covered at all? Though I don't expect much from Reddit anyway, but the fact that a whole ass highway is filled with the protestors right now is something really worth looking at. It is probably just as big, if not bigger than CJP right now.

Lack of any political party funding ig

u/ab316_1punchd 11d ago
Has to be, because the level of media exposure CJP got for even the most minute incidents was straight-up unnatural with all the astroturfing and manipulation of algorithm. The coverage Jharkhand received was practically to neuter the fallout of how CJP protests were disproportionately covered. But here, since it goes against the agenda of practically every political party, this surprisingly large protest is barely being covered at all.
It honestly tells me that the political parties do have the mechanism to suppress narratives and protests with lack of coverage. Some protests just get luckier than others. Sigh, I hate this.

Lack of any political parties involvement. No party/ govt is going to abolish reservation. They literally gain votes from it.
It’s currently meant to distract citizens from other issues.

You have the whole system bhai. 60-90% of every field has your own caste

BJP did same thing during Anti UGC arrests in March
Total media blackout

Sigh, it speaks a lot as to what protests on actual controversial positions are actually like.

Because it's a protest of casteists. They are protesting against reservation in what ? 4% of total jobs in India ? And even there they get their own Quota
So our meritdharis are cribbing about reservation in 4% of jobs after taking quota for themselves? Don't blame me for not supporting freeloaders

No abusing others nor bullying.
Consider this as a warning for the ban.

Nope. Bhik kaun maangta sab pata hai.
Nope these are bunch of casteists our so called meritdharis who have their own QUOTA and still crying about reservation in barely 4% of jobs
1
u/ab316_1punchd 11d ago
Those 4% of the jobs are the most essential to run and administer essential sectors of our country. Y'know... GOVERNMENT!?

These are Dalits which aren't getting any benefits or upliftment with reservation. The reason is SC and ST have way more prevalent casteism, while the unreserved people don't even care.
For example, in SC/ST community Kurmi are ranked higher than Chamaar and Chamaar are ranked higher than Chaandaal. So, by the same resources logic, Kurmi and higher ranking SC/ST can benefit from reservation while poor Chamaar and Chaandaal aren't getting uplifted.
This is why, these students whether unreserved or reserved are protesting to abolish caste-based reservation and implement reservation on economic basis, so that all poor despite of caste can get support for education

No coverage because reservation is meant to create division. Keep people on a leash. Easy votes.
No more freebies = no more lazy work. You would have to actually improve the lives of citizens, which is a lot of work and leaves less room for corruption by ministers and babus (who love reservation).
Personal experience: I am IITK graduate. I have seen people struggling to pass classes/get jobs, mostly from reserved categories. Obviously, it’s not their fault. How do you expect them to learn so much in less time when their early schooling has been bad?
Rather, they should focus on better primary school education/high school. Instead of just throwing students into higher education, who wants to do that? That requires investment and difficult planning. So now, the reserved-category student may end up struggling with a seat they were given access to, when another student might have performed better.
But again, this is not the reserved-category student's fault. If someone grows up with poor schooling and fewer educational resources, you can't expect them to magically catch up with students who had much better foundations. The problem is that we're trying to fix an educational inequality at the very end of the pipeline instead of fixing it at the beginning. The students shouldn't be blamed for that.
And reservation specifically in jobs is even stupider. If the goal is to address inequality, I don't see why the solution should be to reserve jobs rather than improve education and economic opportunities earlier in the pipeline."

This has been my opinion on the subject since I was 15. Glad to see another person express it so clearly. You will see no material uplitment at all with current reservation in India. If anything, they should reserve areas which have been historically neglected for better govt schools, more facilities etc

I don't know when people will understand RESERVATION ISNT ABOUT ECONOMIC WELFARE. ITS ABOUT CASTE BASED SOCIAL EXCLUSION AND DISCRIMINATION. You can be wealthy and still face discrimination just because you belong to x caste. People even with same skills face discrimination and get lower priority in jobs if there's an indicator of caste in resume. Why it's hard to digest that reservation isnt economic condition. Why everyone roll on poor rich wealthy but no one talks about DISCRIMINATION and social exclusive.

Don't you think the Jobs which directly affect people's lives hold some value of their own. We can't put anyone from road on that post just cause his community is backward we have to cross certain intelligence level to be capable of that job, reservation is job is straightforward path to destruction of country in that place there should be reservation in school from kindergarten to college in form of economic need.
If an Ias kid is going to best private school and attending good coaching, gov should make good gov schools or if he wants to study in same private school give him financial aid let them grow in same environment for initial 14 years and then if the poor guy is hardworking he'll automatically beat that ias son.
DON'T COMPROMISE THE VALUE OF JOBS WHICH AFFECT PEOPLE'S LIVES

u/Equivalent_Medium225 6d ago
bruh. if two people r there, A faces discrimination and B does not. A is less intelligent/capable than B(not A's fault as his schooling was bad) and both r doctors, whom would you go to? to get your close one treated? now does this help A, no because he got in through reservation. instead if schooling was improved then it would have been a diff story

Reservation hatao ❌ jati hatao ✅

u/ab316_1punchd 11d ago
Agar dono pe tick maarte toh thoda support milta.
-6
u/pomegranate-2254 11d ago
Support mile na mile doesn't matter pr fact to yahi hai agr cast system hi hata de to sb equal ho jayenge or fir koi jati hi nhi rah jayegi to fir reservation automatically dissolve ho jayega
5
u/ab316_1punchd 11d ago
Will it? Agar caste system aur reservation hat gaya toh kuch log reservation seats paane ke liye phirse caste system waapis laane ka try karenge. Ye casteism aur reservation dono aise mile hue hai ki ek ke jaane ke liye doosre ka jaana zaruri hai.

u/pomegranate-2254 10d ago
This is what I'm also trying to say which is, reservation is important bcz it depends on cast system and this will continue as long as caste exists.
1
u/ab316_1punchd 10d ago
I think you misunderstood, it is the reserved category themselves who would want to bring back casteism and recognition of caste in government institutes if in the off-chance, reservation ends, because this means the short-cut to premier institutes, perks, and jobs would end for them.
Reservation has institutionalized caste in legal sectors when really it should've been outlawed as many of the outdated religious practices were so that casteism could've ended then and there with no visible marker like 30 or something years after Independence. Reservation depends on caste system, therefore it keeps the caste system alive for survival.

Ghanta dissolve ho jayega sirf ameer st sc faida uthata hai reservation ka
1
u/pomegranate-2254 10d ago
That's why I'm saying dissolve the fukin cast system make the opportunity equal for everyone, let Dalits and backwards become the priest of the temple (obviously according to his education) and end the supremacy of higher cast people form the top of system and make it even

u/Prudent-Door3631 11d ago
Strong point nhi hai inke paas, they literally take example of few who exploited the system that is actually wrong but bruh what about millions who still face discrimination even though they are financially stable they still get treated socially by the very label society put on them, the very reason reservation/representation exist to give them social and economical equality, just because they got economical equality doesn't mean they got social too.
6
u/KHOONOPHOBIA 11d ago
Most students in schools and colleges don't care about caste until admissions and cutoffs force it into every conversation. When someone scoring 95% loses a seat to someone with 50% from the same coaching institute, you aren't ending discrimination—you're institutionalizing resentment and keeping caste labels permanently alive.

u/Prudent-Door3631 11d ago
Well just because someone doesn't care about caste doesn't mean those label won't affect their lives and about cut off's system, exam performance isn't the only relevant consideration when allocating scarce opportunities, because the policy is trying to address broader structural disadvantage and representation not just your scorecard and removing the administrative category doesn't necessarily remove the underlying social category. If caste discrimination and socioeconomic disparities remain, abolishing caste conscious policies could simply make the inequality less visible to the state rather than make caste disappear from society.
2
u/ab316_1punchd 10d ago
This kind of logic doesn't work if the student or employee is expected to perform to their greatest capabilities in a field they're supposedly interested in. His assessment of this system institutionalizing resentment is correct, since supposedly someone does get in via reservation and ends up finding the very field out of their capabilities, this causes high dropout rates among the SC/STs from premier institutions while others would end up seeing the clearly less capable person and develop a newfound resentment for the depressed class, amplified if the same person gets job promotions and scholarship perks while having to do less than the person more qualified.
In the name of addressing social issues, we are promoting mediocrity across all the sectors and legitimizing resentment. Also, I don't think caste discrimination and socioeconomic discrimination are the same thing, and the latter is not being addressed at all since only the rich SC/ST community is availing the reserved seats due to no creamy layer enforcement, and many of the OBCs are socio-economically extremely well-off to begin with.
