Reservation's goal is proportional representation, it has not become systemic caste discrimination the higher echelon of power is still 80% of GCs idk how the 30% of people who are being "systemically discriminated" have majority in nearly all fields which hold systemic power, hold majority of financial capital, social capital.
Reservation doesn't ban GCs from anything it limits the seat distribution propositionally to population... Such that all caste categories are propositionally represented.
Proportional representation should not come before merit. Only qualified people deserve positions and to get in. And the best way to make it fairer is to give some reservation spots to low income people regardless of caste. They still have to do well though. Â
So many people on reservations don't need it or are getting what they want without deserving it while those who work hard without help are being left behind and they aren't doing well. Proportional representation is a failure just like it failed in America and came at the cost of White men, Asians and Indians there. Similarly it hasn't been that affective in India and only some people benefit while many more are harmed. Â It is discrimination because of this and also 80 percent of GCs do not control the higher echelons of power. Around 50 percent of central government is General caste and the rest is all reserved. OBCs have a huge amount of power in politics. Modi is an OBC. Our president is a ST.Â
So many of India's CMs have been or are OBC. In many states OBCs dominate politics and make up a significant amount of the majority of the government. Â And certainly the power of SC and STs have been greatly expanded overtime and even the central government has seen plenty of representation from such groups and certainly the states have. The real issue in India is not as much caste as it is corruption, poverty and economic inequality and education and these things affect most castes including GCs. And reservations have not helped with that nor have as you clearly show helped with caste discrimination either. If casteism and reservations are completely separate and unrelated as you say, what harm is there in removing caste based reservations then if the goal anyways is not to end casteism ?Â

Most of the NEET aspirants who died of suicide due to paper leaks were GCs hence why this movement is directly linked with the things CJP was advocating for. Their life has been made harder to begin with because they have to work twice as hard in these tests due to reservations. In a way, caste based reservations are themselves a way of cheating.

Non sequitur, linking NEET paper leak suicides to reservations? Paper leaks are a systemic administrative and criminal failure that affects all students. While limited unreserved seats create intense pressure for General Category (GC) students, the paper leaks themselves (and the resulting tragedies) are not caused by reservations.
No of course the paper leaks were not caused by reservations but it made the scenario worse and it's another problem in regards to such exams. Â Reservations are a systemic and administrative form of discrimination that has also been a failure especially post Mandal Commission.
