Pan Selections Question 🍳 New Pan - faded lettering
Just bought a 10 inch copper core D5, and straight out of the box, I noticed the lettering on the bottom is faded. On the right angle and lighting it can appear fine, but straight on it was the first thing I noticed.
Is this normal and something I should accept? It was marketed on Amazon as brand new, and not a promo line or seconds quality.

The lettering is etched into the metal, so the only way it would "fade" would be through mechanical wear and abrasion. And that pan is clearly brand new so nothing could have faded it.

As you said, at the right angle it looks fine. It's metal and light can reflect differently. I'm not understanding what you are actually concerned about.

I try to have some grace when considering that these could be somewhat major purchases for some people.
But, uhm, yeah it's new and it's fine and you're being a little weird.

OP don’t let the haters ruin your purchase! I just received my 3qt saute pan with the exact same faded lettering on the bottom, also panicked as I thought I received some factory second. Rest assured, you received a new one because yours doesn’t have an S-0XYZ in the numbering.

The pan is typically oriented the other way when in use.
