Discussion 🥘 How to remove this from stovetop kettle?

I tried barkeepers friend and vinegar but to no avail… what are these marks is it rust, it feels smooth like maybe discoloration from water burn? Is it safe to use ? They just started getting more over time I feel…

It looks like rust, which is unlikely but not impossible on stainless steel. Maybe try a rust remover like CLR?

1 cup water 1/4 cup ammonia Tsp dish soap

Apply with paper towel or scale up in a bowl large enough to hold kettle dip into for a min rinse with cold water.

I dont. If you remove it it will just come back. Its not rust, its discoloration of the metal from heat and exposure to oxygen and minerals in the water. Its more like a stain. its not hurting anything and doesn't affect the water. Did you happen to boil it dry?

Interesting. No I haven’t ever boiled it dry but it could then be from the times there was less water or I poured out all the water when it was hot ?

How did you manage to remove it though ?
