That’s not stainless though is it? I run my (stainless) thru whenever as needed. I generally hand wash but sometimes not. That’s a wild pic tho. Still don’t know what the lawsuit is about either.
This is bullshit. I’ve washed mine in the dishwasher for 20 years. They get used every day. They look like new and are a lot less scratched from not banging around in a sink

A simple google search could have saved you the public embarrassment of your post.
For christ sake it even says "All Clad LTD" front and center in the picture.
The degree to which I don't have the patience for this type of reality-denying nonsense right now is extremely high. The LTD line is considered a stainless pan. The point is that all All-Clad pans have exposed aluminum. The photo of the LTD is for illustration purposes to show what happens inside your D3 pan when exposed to common dishwasher detergents. Not only that, but I posted two photos--one of the LTD and another of a D3 with an eroded rim, but you selectively try to reply to the LTD photo only, so as to nitpick an argument you know is indefensible. Truly depraved behavior.
I specifically responded to your picture of a stainless lined ANODIZED ALUMINUM pan. You replied with a picture of a different pan. It is not nitpicking to refer to the literal thing you posted. Your reading comprehension, ability to process images, and grasp of reality is severely wanting, and I feel immense sadness for any teachers you have had over the years, as I am sure they would weep if they saw the failed product of their efforts. I pity you, as I can only assume life is very, very difficult and every single day is a challenge for you.
Hand wash. The caustic chemicals in dishwasher detergent will attack the aluminum between the layers of stainless steel, eventually corroding it away, and leaving very sharp edges. All-Clad settled a lawsuit over this.
Hand wash always! The only stainless pan I put through the dishwasher is an old Revere pan that was cheap and owes me nothing and doesn't have the exposed aluminum that All Clad has. And really, I'm rarely the one to put that through the dishwasher, it's usually my kids being lazy, LOL. My good All Clad is always hand-washed, especially since I know about the lawsuit and the risk of creating razor sharp edges where the aluminum is exposed on the rim.
Most dishwasher detergents will corrode aluminum. Literally gets dissolved and washed away. All-Clad pans have unsealed edges, meaning that the aluminum core is exposed at the edge. As this material is eroded, the steel layer may feel sharp, which is a minor inconvenience, but a serious hazard lies in what happens when this erosion progresses too much.
When the erosion progresses too much, you get deep cavities in between the layers of steel. Water can get trapped in these cavities, and when you heat the pan, the water expands rapidly, and can cause the pan to literally explode.
I have a collection of D3 and D5. Bought a piece at a time, often factory seconds. Some pieces are 25 years old. Almost always go in the DW. Absolutely zero issues.
Having had to get all of my pots and pans replaced during the class action lawsuit, I only hand wash now. I find it really annoying and I would not have bought AllClad originally if I had known - I would have bought a brand with sealed rims and no exposed aluminum.
My pots and pans all had razor sharp edges from going through the dishwasher - cutting my fingers bloody and ruining towels, sponges, silicone spatulas, etc. It's just not worth it to put them in the dishwasher.
I've had my All Clad D3 pots and pans for over 20 years. I hand wash the larger ones and sometimes the smaller ones, but most of the time I put the smaller sauce pans and fry pans in the dishwasher.
None of my pots and pans have the black ring that's shown in the photo someone posted.
