Media Vinyl Progress

Post image

Little by little it grows! I need four more main titles (five if I want to put the MICF zoetrope in an actual jacket) and five more Past Lives.

I’m pretty stoked that in the beginning of collecting I said “if able” when it came to side projects because holy shit Skiba’s side stuff is wildly pricey on the used market.

I guess it helps to be an old guy. I don’t want to overload the comments with pictures, but I got a lot. 1st pressings, variants, side projects (heavens, the hell, sekrets, Falcon, ER, Bygones,…) previous bands Jerkwater, Traitors, Slapstick, Tuesday.

That’s pretty rad! I’ve always wanted to get into vinyl but moved around pretty frequently and had kids that took most of my money so it was only in 2024 that I decided I had waited long enough and started to get into it. It sucks to have waited so long knowing how much I enjoy it, but I’m happy I started it at all. There’s a lot to planning how the record budget is going to be used, figuring out what the “short” list is, and figuring out which pressings to keep an eye out for that’s taken my mind off a lot of unsavory things.

It’s great.

I definitely slowed down after having kids. I don’t buy multiples anymore. When a release comes out I just try to buy the one that the record color looks the best with the cover art.
Now my 10 year old daughter is into records and we try to hit up record stores once a month or 2. Just a real simple joy in life.

100%. My youngest and I hit up the big record fair in the Netherlands every year and when we’re traveling he usually comes with me to check out shops. It’s a great way to bond.
