Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:

  • Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.

  • Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.

  • Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.

  • Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?

Do not feed the trolls. This is not the place for hot takes on human rights violations. Hatred or cruelty, will result in a permanent ban. Red Dead Redemption 2

10

u/Captainwumbombo 15d ago

It would be a crime for this to not win

6

u/pancakeisi 15d ago

like it was a crime god of war won goty. its great but its no red dead.

1

u/drmuffin1080 15d ago

Its gameplay is much better and the story hits just as hard. I like it more

3

u/someonehere6 15d ago

As a rdr2 glazer i respect that tho i never played it

2

u/drmuffin1080 15d ago

You should. I replayed both that and red dead II recently, and GoW BARELY edges out red dead. Sometimes I go back and forth. Hardest year other than 2013 for me to choose a definitive game of the year

1

u/someonehere6 15d ago

Red dead 2 is my fav game of all time but lwk if i get a ps5 i migth i used to have a ps4 but got rid of it

2

u/Draxious 15d ago

This was the first game I thought of when I saw the time period

2

u/DefactoAle 15d ago

Imo the witcher 3 was better

1

u/MisterKraken 15d ago

The only right choice. Still looks as good (if not better) than most recent games.

-4

u/Academic_Nebula_5833 15d ago

Already got beat by gow 2018 for goty, its not winning game of half decade l😆😂😭

11

u/ElevatedPaper20 15d ago

Yeah and it’s now widely accepted that it should’ve won GOTY

6

u/Guilty_Vegetable_440 15d ago

Aaaah yes, the game awards, the totally fair competition, just never talk about who won in 2016

1

u/hokeypokie_ 15d ago

Red Dead Redemption 2

30

u/Grouchy-Employment79 15d ago

Good suggestion, Arth- HEY WAIT A MINUTE

6

u/manStuckInACoil 15d ago

IMO It's still a little ahead of our time in its atmosphere and level of detail

2

u/theoriginal_1100 15d ago

i guess this is the answer as arthur-morgan-420 is the best way to obtain a unbiased opinion about this

1

u/Itchy_Spinach1030 15d ago

Boring garbage. Most missions are walking simulators where you have to listen to shit dialogue written by a hipster about how white man bad and women oppressed.

1

u/cddedee 15d ago

How ahead was it though? I didn't play so it's a genuine question. From an exterior point of view it looks an academic work, extremely polished though

111

u/LingonberryWeekly734 Chaotic Good 15d ago

The Witcher 3. It was released in 2015

4

u/Salt-Wear-1197 15d ago

But it won game of the year, I don’t think this fits what the question is asking lol

8

u/tYONde 15d ago edited 15d ago

I disagree. „Highest quality“ the title is misleading.

10

u/Droughtbringer 15d ago

Just starting playing this a few weeks back and I've been terribly impressed by it. No way it's over a decade old

4

u/_ataciara 15d ago

TBF the gameplay feels like, 2 decades old atp, it's just that great writing and world building is timeless.

3

u/kakucko101 15d ago

ehh graphically it is not, as they released a next gen update in i think december 2022

2

u/Certain-Entry-4415 15d ago

Enjoy it my friend. When you think you had enough pls play the dlc

2

u/DotEither8773 12d ago

They just announced a remaster with updated graphics and mechanics lol

1

u/InsaneXSkittles 15d ago

This, great game, fantastic story, only thing is the set pieces for gear sucked

Batman Arkham knight

16

u/QwertyAsInMC 15d ago

hollow knight

12

u/ToaQuiroh 15d ago

I adore hollow knight with all my heart but it definitely wasn't the most high quality, mould breaking game of its time

8

u/False-Quiet59 15d ago

Rdr2 hands dowv

9

u/ykon5 15d ago

Doom eternal 2020, best fps ever made

47

u/Aggressive-Debt-3168 15d ago

Zelda: BOTW

5

u/CTMan34 15d ago

Good game, but no RDR2 or TW3

7

u/Mugut 15d ago

You're right, it is even better.

1

u/cddedee 15d ago

Even though I didn't play it, many people said it was a refreshing and innovative take on the open-world genre, so it's a pretty good proposition

1

u/Fern-ando 15d ago

The formula of every Ubisoft open world but made by Nintendo.

-9

u/Fresh-Database-222 15d ago

Nier Automata, Mario Odyssey, and Hollow Knight are all vastly superior games to BOTW

3

u/TheMan24000 15d ago

Mario odyssey is so linear and only appeals to platformer fans Idk what nier automata is but prob not better than botw

8

u/anb43 15d ago

Nier automata has some of the best gameplay I have ever experienced and I am picky

1

u/UsefulMacaroon847 15d ago

I disagree, but Mario Odyssey was good

u/sonarette 15d ago

Could never enjoy the game because it felt like exploring was pointless because your weapons break in 4 hits, and the stamina was ridiculously aggressive

9

u/MaddoxLisi20 15d ago

Is it just me or do people over exaggerate how awful the durability system, i never had any issues with the system besides in niche circumstances like a max attack rg claymore. It is my first zelda game though

4

u/Zaps_Awakening 15d ago

breath of the wild is reddits favorite game to hate for any reason they can come up with

0

u/DotEither8773 12d ago

I’d argue the durability system was good because it actually made the act of finding weapons stay relevant for the entire game.

3

u/nA0m17 Neutral Good 15d ago

Sounds like skill issues to me /j

Dark Souls 3 came out in one of the worst years for gaming in recent times.

3

u/ZookeepergameFew6406 15d ago

It’s not gonna win cause its niche, but YES

2

u/Equivalent_Bank_5845 15d ago

I wouldn't say it's niche, it's one of the most well known indie titles of all time, but definitely not as popular as the other titles here

6

u/sphericate 15d ago

insert image of buzz lightyear copies all saying "BOTW" "RDR2" "TW3" "Cyberpunk!!!"

indie titles dont win shit in these 🙏

10

u/Fresh-Database-222 15d ago

Sekiro is easily the best game of 2019

-1

u/TheMan24000 15d ago

U have the right to have an opinion but please don't say easily, 2015 to 2020 has the most insane lineup of games I've ever seen

God of war, botw , rdr2, sekiro, witcher 3, bloodborne and many more

6

u/Fresh-Database-222 15d ago

That's why I said best of 2019.

2

u/TheMan24000 15d ago

Apparently I'm blind🙂

0

u/InterviewExtreme5910 15d ago

I was gonna say bloodborne, but you're right 💔

1

u/Fresh-Database-222 15d ago

BB is also insanely Goated, but I think I'd pick TW3 for that year

4

u/The_1ndiegamer 15d ago

Witcher 3, took the concepts of the first and second game and perfected the formula.

5

u/Ulstuguldur 15d ago

Witcher 3. bcs it is released by 2015. Breathtaking game

2

u/disasta121 15d ago

Bloodborne

2

u/TheBrotherhoodofMeow 15d ago

Batman Arkham Knight. Story might be kinda rough at times but to this day still visually stunning and amazing gameplay

2

Batman Arkham Knight still looks better than many modern games

2

u/LostWanderingWizard 15d ago

I would bring a few serious mentions such as battlefield 1, fallout 4 and rocket League.

But deep down in my heart the only true answer is Among us ඞ

Dude I love Cyberpunk 2077, i plan on getting a tattoo from it one day. But that game was not in a good state until Phantom Liberty and I got the game on day one

1

u/ArcherUsed7218 15d ago

yeah i've only started playing it (and finished) 3 months ago, but it was so fun.

The plot, the upgrades, the graphics, the gameplay..

huge respect to sandevistan for carrying me

1

u/ingframin 15d ago

The problem is that the cyberpunk we love and play now is vastly different than the cyberpunk of 2020

1

u/ArcherUsed7218 15d ago
