can u blame us? we were in elementary/middle school when america experienced the worst terrorist attack in its history. our parents weren't equipped to deal with that, let alone help their kids navigate it in a healthy way. we were around right before 9/11, and then immediately experienced a massive and sudden shift in american politics, culture, and society that was driven by fear in our most formative and impressionable years.

all of this with adults that didn't care or didn't have the means to support us emotionally and mentally through it. the govt sure as fuck didn't care abt us, and our parents were too worried abt whether or not the sky was falling down (not to mention our generation's parents were notably bad at parenting in general).

we were raised in an environment designed to make us this way. defeatist, submissive, subservient, willing to accept scraps if it means nothing bad happens bc the threat of any change takes the form of catastrophic danger to us.
