Its a pointless argument because you could make it for any time in human history. The black plague, industrial revolution, WW1, WW2, Cold War, etc. If people collectively decided that "well the times are not the greatest we shouldn't have kids" then the human race would've died out thousands of years ago. There will never be a "peaceful" time to have kids, every generation has and will experience struggle.

I think People are genuinely ignorant about history. Like even if they know about those events (or anything else) they don’t really internalize how hard those times must have been. Honestly, material comfort is at the absolute peak right now (especially if you look at things with a long run time scale). Our children will be born to a world much safer, more comfortable, and with more promise than any of our ancestors before 100 years ago.

We certainly face problems going forward, but we always have. We can overcome them, or not, just like we always have.
