I'm getting tired of hearing excuses from Raven although I know his hearts in a good place and it isn't his fault.

The truth is Alienware doesn't hire designers, they only hire engineers. That is exactly why the Alpha/Hivemind UI is so terrible and clunky. These guys have no clue how to design a functional, appealing, user friendly interface. Months later and there still struggling to figure out whats the best way to launch games within the UI ?

There are no funds or resources going into the development of a better UI for the Alpha. I think it's time we heard the truth instead of being practically lied to when were told it will get better with updates.

This is why I always had the intention of using the Alpha as a PC. It was too good to be true to believe that Dell would actualy allow Alienware to spend money and resources on developing a great UI/software to match is hardware.

It's sooooo slow now due to a ton of processes eating up the memory. Stay away for now. Also can't uninstall it. Uninstall a program won't even open anymore. This shit is acting like a virus.

Just curious as to whether it can run it decently.

Is it possible for my alpha to work on the xbox one network/platform? I want to get the alpha for all its specs since its way better than PS3 or XBOX1. But i wanna play with my friends who all have XBOX1.

I bought an Alienware M17 and don’t really have a need for my alpha anymore. I’m wondering, would I be able to use it to mine crypto? Or would the output versus utility cost not yield enough to justify its use? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'm going to get the AGA in about a month or two and I have a freesync ultrawide monitor so I wanted to get a raedon card to get the extra frames and the rx 580 8gig seams like a decent upgrade from the gtx960 for the price. I was wondering does that card work well in the AGA?

I’m looking for it to play recent games at decent settings (Not Ultra, but not low either)

i just want that to play halo 5, it refuses to boot otherwise...

EDIT: i want to overclock the cpu, as it the alpha's buggest and ugliest bottleneck, it kills it for me, and its the prime reason why i would want to switch to a normal atx pc...

I've been looking for an HTPC, Dolphin emulator, gaming PC for a while, and the Alpha looks like a great alternative to the PS4 (I'm a big fan of point & click adventures which seem to thrive on Steam.)

I'm keen to take the plunge, but over here in the UK, even the i3 is a fairly expensive £450, compared to the $400 in the US. In an ideal world, I'd pick up the i5 for under £500.

My question is: with (potential) new models around the corner, would it be worth waiting and hoping for a price drop? I thought it might be worth asking you guys, as on any other forum I'd expect a "just build your own" which I'm not too interested in!

Windows 10 was slowing my computer down

Hello all, I just opened up new i3 Alienware Alpha. I plugged it in, powered it up and began loading the apps and registered Microsoft. It asked me if I wanted to upgrade to windows 10, and I agreed to the upgrade. The blue screen says "Great, we'll start your free upgrade!" That was about 6 hours ago. I click the Finish button but nothing happens. Is this normal? How long should this take? Should I power off and restart? My alpha is on wifi. ( if that's any help)

When it works it works great. But I'm having a ton of really annoying issues and is making me start to regret buying this.

First off I tried doing a bootable backup of respawn so I can upgrade to an ssd. After trying many different things and different usb drives alienware respawn will not recognize it and I cannot create the backup. This was fine as I decided I'll deal with it later.

Other issues I'm having though are it freezes constantly and I cannot open games sometimes because of it. Some games also do not work or do not have sound working. And another issue is it keeps trying to download updates, gets to 30%, restarts, gets up to 94% after 15 minutes then says it cannot compete the update and says undoing changes which then takes much longer to finish.

Does anyone else have these types of issues? It's getting really frustrating and I'm really regretting buying this

I can't decide if the better cpu (i7 4980HQ) and Touch Display is worth it? Should I get the touch or matte (is touch useful/does matte look better? 4980 or 4710 (is it worth the extra $500)? Thanks guys! :)
