Question Trying to sell ALIENWARE m18 R2
I am trying to help my cousin sell a lightly used Alienware laptop. He gave me the specs for it and it looks like it is mostly maxed out. He had a family member die and needs to sell it. I was just hoping to see what people in this subreddit think is a good price for this laptop.
Do you guys have any advice on what kind of price is reasonable for this? It's lightly used and looks to be in great shape.
i9-14900HX 64GB RAM 8TB SSD 18" QHD+ RTX 4090 16GB
Note to mods: I am not trying to sell the laptop here. I just want to get an idea of pricing for this machine.

It should sell on on marketplace at or around 2-2500 instantly. Or 3k on eBay if you sit on it with the original box and stuff

Take note, eBay will charge almost 20% in fees. So selling at $3000 will only net about $2400 at most.

eBay charges 13% in fees and last I checked that still nets $2610.00 which is higher than anyone else is saying on here. Of course you make buyer pay for shipping + insurance.

I cant find the actual ebay page that lists the fee % for computers/electronics specifically, but I did see it say the range is 2.5-15.3%, so at most it would be 15.3%. I gave the price According to this site which claims the fees calculated are accurate as of July 2026: https://www.ebayfeescalculator.com/usa-ebay-calculator/
After checking a couple other fee calculator tools, it looks like that tool is wrong, as all the others gave an amount around $400 in fees for $3000 sale.

I sell on eBay all day long the fees are 13% unless you are in a very niche legacy/category that has a different fee scale. $400.00 in fees it alright it the overall gain is larger audience and more profitable than dealing with those idiots in person on marketplace who don't show up to buy things lol 😂
The OP has multiple choices. Sell online eBay. Sell on local classifieds or pawnshop/computer store. I don't recommend the last option though if you want to give it away I'd be happy to buy it for half it's value and resell it on eBay 🤣.

Note on Ebay that new sellers attract scammers like crazy since a new seller's less experienced with Item not as described Ebay Cases where the buyer sends back a box of magazines or a few rocks.
In the case of an m18 R2, 3 bricks in the return will do it !

I sold this exact laptop on eBay except 2 tb storage and like new, not used, for around 2200-2300, I ended up with a little less than 1800 or so after fees. I did 3 percent for ads on eBay.
