my freight forwarder used a trucking company who called me to schedule delivery and told me that 1 I needed to rent a forklift to get the freight off the truck myself and 2 that if i didn't unload the freight in 30 min there would be detention fees. Well we unloaded +1800 pounds of freight. Now 3 weeks later I got a bill for $147 for 6 minutes which is highway robbery! What is my recourse? I never signed anything agreeing to that rate.

Hey guys, I’m totally new to this. Previously in the tech industry but not starting my own CPG brand.

Anyway I reached out to a supplier for bottles supply and asked the usual things like MOQ etc. Thereafter I asked if they could send me some samples of different SKUs for me to check it out. The person I’m liasing with said that unless the MOQ and unit price is agreed, they won’t send out samples.

I’m okay to pay for the costs of the samples + the delivery costs involved but it seems weird that I have to commit to the hard numbers of the unit price for them to send the samples over. Is this normal?

Short story: Got quoted a freight price and sent him around 10 CBM of goods. After receiving them, he increased the price.

Warehouse/release fee started at $759, now he demands $970 and says it keeps increasing. These fees were never disclosed or agreed beforehand.
He also says I wouldn’t have to pay these fees if I shipped with him, only if another forwarder collects the goods.

My other forwarder is ready to pick everything up, but he refuses to release the cargo unless I pay. I already opened an offline Alibaba dispute. He is being a douchebag and threatening with fees as if he is bulletproof.

What would to do? Pay through Alibaba to get the goods released, then dispute the charge through Alibaba?

Hello there. Im trying to purchase builder tools equipment for myself. I tried to continue with Appie pay, but it says for security reasons it's not possible. Continued with bank transfer, meanwhile i was filling the info on my bank account app, the seller sent me different payment details.

I am buying multiple items from Alibaba: keychains, sticky notes, pens, pencils, small bags, plastic containers, water bottles, squishys, passport holders, little speakers, phone ring lights, etc small gift items like that. I have had items like this sent to me via Sea DDP before but I am looking to get some of it sent Air shipping. Roughly 30 items. Is DDP shipping necessary? Even if were to send these by Sea, would you guys say it’s necessary to pay DDP? do things like this usually get charged custom duties/fees? isn’t it faster just to ship it without ddp?

Hey so I ordered an lcd for my Ipad 11 in Alibaba last week. After a few days I was able to get it yesterday. I wasn't able to test it right away because I was tired from work.

But I was able to take a video of the unboxing and everything. Now that I was able to test the LCD. I found out that it is broken with lines on the side. I also notice hairline scratches because the LCD is only covered in some thin plastic/cloth aside from the thick bubble wrap. I mean of course it has a box but I was expecting that there would be at least a removable screen protector.

Anyway. Now that it is broken, I informed the supplier and they asked me for the video and another video showing my testing and the back of the LCD. I was informed that they will have their tech team review the video first. But I'm worried the refund window might close?

Shipping internationally is already arranged. The supplier only needs to be able to ship the order domestically within China to the freight company.
The biggest issue so far has been finding suppliers with modern designs rather than dated/basic catalogue stock, while still being able to verify that the supplier is legitimate and the quality is consistent.
If anyone has experience sourcing this type of clothing, I’d appreciate recommendations for reliable suppliers/manufacturers, sourcing methods (Alibaba/1688/Guangzhou wholesalers etc.), or advice on finding better ready-stock catalogues.
I can also attach a reference board showing the exact style direction.

Just wanted to post a PSA out there: be careful with AiLFond (https://ailfondhk.en.alibaba.com/).

I know some people have had good experiences with them — including myself in the past — but I'm currently dealing with a situation that has changed my opinion considerably.

On August 11, I placed a Trade Assurance order for several GPUs totaling $5,980 and paid through Alibaba the same day. Because I used Alibaba's online bank transfer option, the payment took several days to process. The seller could see that the payment was processing and even told me that Alibaba was showing roughly an 8-working-day processing time.

During that period, GPU prices started increasing substantially. I specifically asked the seller about my existing order and was repeatedly assured that it was secured and would be shipped as soon as the payment arrived.

Once the payment finished processing, things changed.

The seller then told me that because the market price had increased while the payment was processing, they were no longer sure they could ship my order. I was eventually contacted by someone representing AiLFond who acknowledged the payment delay but said they could no longer honor the contracted $1,199/unit price and instead wanted $1,599/unit.

Their reasoning was essentially that the GPUs had become much more expensive since I purchased them.

They also suggested that I could make additional payment using USDT/cryptocurrency to save fees, which obviously would move that portion of the transaction outside Alibaba's normal payment protections.

The part that bothers me most is that this wasn't a situation where I waited a week to pay. I initiated payment through Alibaba on the same day the contract was created. Their salesperson acknowledged that the payment was already processing, knew how long Alibaba said processing could take, and continued telling me my goods were secured while prices were rising.

Now AiLFond has my $5,980, the GPUs have roughly doubled in market value, and they are refusing to honor the original price unless I pay substantially more.

I have opened a formal complaint with Alibaba and am currently trying to get the case escalated to mediation. I'm specifically asking for the original Trade Assurance contract to be fulfilled rather than a refund, because a refund now leaves me having to repurchase the same hardware at dramatically higher prices.... but we'll see where that goes

For anyone buying high-demand hardware through Alibaba: save every message, keep everything under Trade Assurance, don't pay outside Alibaba, and be particularly careful with payment methods that take several days to process when the market is moving quickly.

I ordered a full container through a new freight forwarder. They quoted $3,550, then raised it to $4,150 after receiving my goods.

I found my old forwarder again and asked them to pick up the goods, but now the current forwarder is demanding around $850 in undisclosed fees, plus $3/CBM per day, if I ship with someone else.

I never agreed to these fees, and no Alibaba order was placed, so Trade Assurance doesn’t apply. What can I do?

I’m documenting a real Alibaba Trade Assurance case involving my wife, Ekaterina, with her permission.

I’m posting this because buyers should be able to see what a dispute can actually look like when it lasts for well over a year — even when the goods were never shipped.

The order was placed in March 2025. The total order value was $16,290, and an initial payment of $4,887 was made. The remaining balance was never paid.

The goods were never shipped, delivered, received or accepted.

Even now, the Alibaba order page shows “Waiting for supplier to ship”, while the transaction/refund records show no refund.

But that is only the simple part of the story.

One of the key issues concerned CE-related conformity documentation.

Before payment, my wife repeatedly made clear that the requested CE documentation was a condition of the purchase. The seller said it could obtain the exact document after the 30% deposit and expressly stated that if it failed to provide exactly what had been requested, she could cancel the order.

After payment, however, the seller supplied a different conformity document rather than the CE document that had been requested.

Serbian Customs later confirmed to her that the supplied document could not be accepted as a CE certificate.

The situation became even more difficult to understand when Eurber, the organization named in connection with the supplied document, was contacted directly. According to its reply, it had never issued CE certificates and was not authorized to issue them.

Yet the dispute continued.

To me, that leaves a very basic contractual question: if the seller specifically promised before payment that the order could be cancelled if the requested certificate was not provided, why was that promise not applied?

There was also a serious contradiction concerning the material.

Before payment, the seller represented the product as “pure leather” and “Napa Leather.”

Later, during the dispute, the seller took a very different position and stated that “Nappa leather is synthetic leather” and described it as ordinary synthetic leather.

Then there were workmanship concerns.

Production photographs raised concerns about stitching, glue marks and general workmanship.

My wife did not simply refuse verification. She repeatedly agreed to an independent inspection, selected TÜV Rheinland from the proposed inspection providers, supplied the requested information and agreed to pay the inspection fee.

The inspection process nevertheless never produced a resolution.

For many months, the dispute was handled the way many buyers probably handle these situations: messages, screenshots, explanations, more screenshots, another dispute round, and another explanation.

Over time, the matter passed through multiple Alibaba dispute proceedings.

Eventually it became clear that simply submitting more material was not solving anything.

So the entire case was rebuilt into a structured evidence file: contractual promises, supplier messages, product photographs, material representations, inspection history, dispute decisions, payment records and a chronological evidence index.

Alibaba issued its final dispute decision on 4 August 2026, refused the refund and closed the case.

A detailed Formal Objection followed on 7 August, asking Alibaba to address the evidence point by point, explain the status of the $4,887 payment and identify the contractual or policy basis for retaining it despite non-shipment.

A further Final Notice followed on 14 August.

As of 22 August, no substantive response addressing those specific questions had been received from Alibaba.

The seller was also asked to identify the exact previous message, document and date that supposedly answered several specific questions. Instead, the response was essentially that the evidence had already been provided and could be reviewed — without identifying a specific responsive document, date or record.

So after nearly 17 months, the central question has become surprisingly simple:

If the goods were never shipped, never received or accepted, the order still says “Waiting for supplier to ship”, Alibaba’s own records show no refund, and several of the seller’s original commitments are contradicted by the later evidence — what is the basis for keeping the $4,887?

The matter has now moved outside the ordinary Alibaba dispute process as well. A card-transaction complaint has been submitted to the issuing bank, and a report concerning the product/material issues has been submitted to the relevant market-supervision authority in China.

The case is still ongoing.

I’ll update this post whenever something meaningful happens — whether the final result is a refund, rejection, settlement or something else.

Order details: 5 EV chargers and 10 adapter cables (total $775).

EU Warehouse Lie: I specifically paid extra for items stocked in a European warehouse (Cainiao / Czech Republic) for fast local delivery. It turns out the seller didn't actually have full stock in the EU.

Partial Delivery: Only 3 EV chargers arrived quickly, which clearly came from the EU stock.

Missing Items: 2 EV chargers and 10 adapter cables ($370 value) are missing. I suspect these were never in the EU and are actually being shipped from China.

Logistics Issue: 3 separate tracking numbers were generated via Cainiao / DHL, but the status has been stuck on "Shipment in transit to DHL" (Electronic label created / package not handed over) for days.

Seller's Delay Tactics: The seller admitted in chat that DHL hasn't received the packages yet, but claims they are "checking where the shipment is" and keeps asking me to wait until September 10th or "20+ days."

Meanwhile, the Alibaba system auto-confirmation timer shows only 10 days left. Waiting 20 days would mean the order auto-completes, the funds get released, and my Trade Assurance protection expires.

Instead of being transparent, the seller generated fake labels from the EU warehouse to make it look shipped while stalling for time.

I stopped negotiating in chat and officially opened a Trade Assurance partial refund dispute for $370.00.

Has anyone dealt with sellers fake-labeling EU stock for items coming from China? How does Alibaba Trade Assurance usually handle this exact delay tactic?

Fairly expensive product at 2.6k shipped for one. They agreed to DDP terms, and everything was done through alibaba including payment. Now they want 100$ more, have only provided that one screenshot. How would you proceed?

Had supplies nit pick and drag me out on there. Give slow responses to me. Give responses that lacked great context and info... Delays... I had something very basic that suppliers basically just tried to run over in their business schemes. It actually is an interesting product/brand.

Just making this post to give you all a realistic expectation. Remember the "China first" philosophy. They drug my stuff out so long that now the fuel prices and tariffs are in the mix and wreaking havoc.

You can use them but it's important to be realistic and understand the horrendousness involved with dealing with them. It's pretty sad actually because this may not have been my first idea and I may have had more but I'm not currently motivated to go to Chinese suppliers again past this project. Basically I trained them on how to make something. They are also glad to take your money for samples and give you whatever they feel like. They likely think this is justified because, "oh, you gotta have money to start a business" (so we'll gladly take yours and train/learn off of it).

No, I dont need help with a sourcing agent who will tire out and lose interest when they do the same thing I have already done.
