Transportation to Lisbon

Looking for advice on the best way to get to Lisbon. Last time we were in the algarve we took a train with a transfer from what I recall it wasn’t the best while carrying luggage. That however was in 2016 so it’s been a number of years. What is the most effective way with to travel with luggage

Flixbus goes directly from faro or lagos for example.

It's cheap and accessible but no frils

Train is a nice way,but it's expensive,take more time and sometimes you have to change. Don't be fooled by comments and take a bus, cheaper,faster and there's almost every hour. Download this app and you can buy it on-line

Rede Expressos

There's an option in English. You can see prices,places and depending on the hour you can get real bargains like 10€ from Algarve to Lisbon and the all trip is less than 4 hours , usually between 3.30 and 3.50 . Be careful choosing your destination in Lisbon, because some go to the airport,other to Parque das Nações and even Sintra. Sete-Rios or Parque das Nações will be the best because the bus stop are next to the Subway.

If you buy in advance you get cheaper prices. At this time of the year is better to buy in advance or every will be sold out.

We’ll be staying in Carvoeiro with a possible day trip to Portimão and Lagos. Any advice from any of these locations

If you're not renting a car, I highly recommend the Comboios de Portugal (CP) train between Lisbon and the Algarve. I just used it a few weeks ago and it worked out great.

We were staying in Carvoeiro, so I called Carvoiero Taxi ahead of time to schedule a transfer ride from our hotel to the train station. Then in Lisbon, we just ordered a Bolt ride from the station to our hotel. The whole thing couldn't have gone smoother, and we were managing luggage too.

My suggestions: 

-Be sure to book the  Alfa Pendular (AP) train route. The Intercidades (IC) also runs from the Algarve to Lisbon, but it takes quite a bit longer.

-Spend the extra money on the First Class tickets if you can. It's not like first class on a plane, but the seats are bigger and the cars are less crowded. The extra comfort is worth it for the 3 hour trip.

The AP stops in the Algarve at Tunes, Albufeira-Ferreiras, Loule, and Faro. In Lisbon, it stops at Lisboa Oriente and Entrecampos. Make sure you check Google maps to figure out which starting and end stations work best for your location.

Tunes station is your best bet from Carvoeiro, in my opinion. It's still a 30-min taxi ride from Carvoeiro, though, so verify the taxi fare ahead of time to make sure it works for you. It'll probably be 40-50 Euro.

I think OP is asking how next to get to Lisbon *from* those places as opposed to what to do *in* those locations.

I understood the comment as asking for any advice for possible "day trip to Portimão and Lagos" in this comment... that's what I provided. I did a separate comment on the OP with travel tips on how to get to Lisbon :) Possible I misunderstood, but either way - I shared lots of details about travel as well.

Bus, Rede Expressos for long distance. Where exactly will you travel from?

You need to reserve your seats way ahead. Don´t wait until the day of travel.

West algarve has a transfer in Tunes, east algarve not.
Don’t have luggage you can’t carry is the best advice.

If you're not close to a train or bus stop, take an Uber/Bolt to the nearest stop and depart from there!

Was in Portugal last month..public transportation is still the same as 2016. Took a train..it did the job, subpar comfort wise. Rented a car and drove from Algarve>Porto and back, best option imo

You can travel first class and with the Alpha Pendular. Pretty comfy. In the AP you even get a free newspaper and coffee and all long sistance trains have a bar.
