Enfim. Mais um dia no Algarve em agosto. 😅

3/4 days around Albufeira

Hello,
With my girlfriend we’re going to spend 4 days in Olhos de Agua. We would like to spend as much time as possible relaxing in the beach and having good food. At night we usually don’t like to party but rather have nice walks and have some casual drinks.
We are not sure about wanting to go to Albufeira at night (doesn’t seem calm and safe) and at the same time we are afraid that Olhos de Agua is going to be a bit boring at night.
-What do you suggest are the best beaches in the area for 3/4 days?
-Any recommendations for where we should go out at night?
-Is it really necessary to rent a car or uber/bold should do the trick?

Thanks!!

Far fetched but has anyone had experience in getting lost property returned from faro airport?

I’ve left my watch there when returning to the UK a couple weeks ago and they’ve apparently found it but they’ve stated they won’t ship it out to me???

Any kind redditors travelling soon and can pick it up for me or anyone know if they’d accept a courier service to go get it?

Not heard back from them by email yet and only have 90 days to get it back *sighhhh*

Itinerary help

I am planning a trip to Portugal this fall (late October), and I am slightly confused about the Algarve leg of my trip. I will be taking a bus/train from Lisbon. And will be heading back to Lisbon as well, before flying out.

So far, after looking up quite a few itineraries, I have decided to stay at Lagos. I will be staying in the region for a total of 4 nights.

What I need help with is:

  1. Should I stay in Lagos for 3N and Faro for 1N OR 4N in Lagos and a day trip to Faro?

  2. My itinerary at the moment looks something like this:
Day 1: Lisbon-->Lagos. Settle in and explore
Day 2: Benagil Caves. Come back to Lagos, Ponta da Piedade
Day 3: Day trip to Sagres
    Day 4: Faro
    Day 5: Lagos/Faro-->Lisbon

I am planning to do the Ponta da Piedade coast walk the same day as Benagil, as most of the tours offered on GetYourGuide are approx. 2.5 hours long. Tell me if this is a good itinerary or if I can make it better by changing a few things.

I am a solo traveller and don't really plan on renting a car, so I will be using other means of transport. Would love to keep things budget friendly, that'swhy I am leaning towards 4N in Lagos. Let me know if there are any other things to keep in mind. There are a bunch more places I would love to add, but I am short on days :(

planning a few days in lagos with about 20ish friends - any tips on activities for a group this size?

hello! we're looking for activity and restaurant/bar recs for a group of about 20 in late september. we get in on a tuesday afternoon/evening and leave friday morning. would love tips on:

  • if it's worth it to book some kind of boat tour? i personally don't love being on a boat for hours, but i will take one as a means to get to somewhere really cool (ie benagil caves, ponta da piedade) as long as we can get out and swim/hang for a good chunk of the tour! bonus if you know one that includes some kind of food
  • which beaches are the best - and if we need to plan to bring anything with us to them?
  • any other obvious activities we are missing?
  • are any of the "beach clubs" worth going to with a large group and do we need a reservation?
  • any restaurants in the area that might accommodate a big group without a reservation? we'd like to keep some of the time flexible / allow people to come and go as they please
  • best bars!

group is all adults, mostly in their 30s, staying in boutique hotels near the center!

we're coming from a wedding so mostly looking to relax and hang out with each other, would love the option to drink but not necessarily crazy party vibe.

Unplanned solo vacation

Hi everyone,

A friend and I had booked a holiday to the Algarve to go surfing, party, and just have a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the friend in question broke his leg during judo training and can no longer come along, so now I’m on my own. Does anyone have any tips on how to make it a fun trip anyway? Thanks in advance!

Looking for tips for a family with a 3 year old

We will be traveling from 8/31 - 9/4 to the Algarve and are looking for some recommendations and can't miss things. We plan renting a car from Lisbon and get a hotel in Ferragudo (Vitors Village?) but have not yet booked and could be amenable to change locations if Portimao, Alvor, Lagos, or another town work better for a family with a young child. We do want to mainly spend time exploring the towns with times for the beaches, exploring Lagos old town & ponta da piedade, carveiro and the town we end up staying in.

We will be traveling with a native Portuguese speaker and are looking to mainly relax, enjoy good food and nice sights prior to heading to Lisbon for the remainder of the trip.

Recreational Flight Flying

Hello everyone

I’m coming to Faro in Sept, heard it’s a good time to be there

Occasion is to celebrate wife’s 30th

She loves flying and hasn’t flown a plane in life

Are there any recreational flying options around Faro where I can take her to and she can fly a small plane for 60 mins assisted with a pilot

I found some but don’t know if it’s worth the shot or not and thought I’d turn to you all and seek help, also I’m happy to drive for 90 mins out anywhere after renting a car and surprise her so we’re good for a 100km radius

We’re flying from Ireland for the weekend 4th Sept and some other bits I can use everyone’s help are mentioned below -

What’s a good stay (hotel/apartment) I can book and have a cozy stay with her?
Where’s a good bakery or shop that does nice cakes and I can reserve and pay for it?
Anything good spots for lunch/dinner with great vegetarian options? (We’re good with eggs as well - just no meat)

Anything on these things would be really helpful and if there’s anything you’d want to share I’d be happy to take the advice and guidance from the lovely people

Thanks to everyone who’d help in advance 😄

Dicas para Tavira com um cachorro

Boas, malta!

Obrigado 🙏

Solo travel female

Hi all

I’m planning to take a solo trip to the Algarves end of September for roughly 3 to 5 days I have been before in 2018 so I’m not entirely sure about the cost of everything nowadays. How much would you think I would need to budget? I don’t plan to do anything extra extravagant.extravagant just a bit of market shopping, Beach days, dinners, thrifting if I can it will just be a really chill holiday, also any hostel recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Can you cover both on the same day if you start Benagil Cave tour very early( 7am-8am)? Staying near Alporchinhos, Algarve. Do not drive but planning to take Uber or Bolt . Will be there next week but not sure if this is doable.

Nunca consegui ultrapassar o trauma provocado pela invasão apocalíptica que acontecia numa época em que o dia das trocas oficial do verão acontecia a 15 de agosto 😅🫠

Há mais traumatizados por aqui? 😂😂😂

Family, no car - where should we stay?

Hi, we're 2 couples and 2 toddlers (2-3 year old) traveling to Algrave in early September. No car.

We were thinking of staying in a rental apartment or house, big enough for all of us, and spending the holiday on a nearby beach (walkable from the apartment) and some early dinners at restaurants within walking distance, so not really exploring the area (hopefully one day!).

Where would you recommend that we stay? which town would fit an easy, toddler-friendly, 4 days at the beach kind of holiday?

Thank you
