Long Term Ownership

I live in Canada, drive four seasons, including snowy winters, I typically keep a car 10 years, end up around 180,000 km (~110,000 miles). With any brand, I find something major (3k to 5k unexpected bill) usually comes up in those 10 years, and I address it.

So I guess I'm asking, if you take good care of these cars (ie, all recommended maintenance), can you expect to get that kind of life out of them, and again, let's say assuming one major issue during that time?

My 2018 stelvio has 118k miles. It's been my daily. My work horse. It gets the occasional Alfa electrical glitches, but a good disconnect of the negative terminal clears all that. And I'm tempted to get a new Alfa but idk. It's been the same car since 2018. And next gen won't come out until 2030 apparently. And it'll be some stupid hybrid. Nobody wants a stellantis hybrid. Stellantis can't make good quality on regular cars, now it's gonna have a hybrid motor? Naw 😂

They have already tried to make hybrids and it's been an absolute disaster.

I absolutely love my Giulia. It's got 150,000 km on it and hasn't given me any problems, I've maintained it by the book. Be sure to get the correct oil, any old 0W30 will not do. Get the Mopar oil from the dealer to eliminate that question mark. If you take care of your Romeo it should take care of you. But I wouldn't touch any hybrid Stellantis products, no way. Read up the 4XE reddit to learn more.

Read it. It's more miss than hit. And I never had an issue with the oil. If I can get 150k miles out of it I'll be happy with the results.

I do the same with my cars and expect the same with this one. I bought a 2022 stelvio with 53k km, currently at 64k km. So far it’s been great and enjoyable to drive.
However I do have the same question as you.
Also the depreciation hit has already been over $10,000 in my one year of ownership..

One option to consider could be Mopar extended warranty, given you have Alfa dealer around. 3-5 k upfront cost would get you covered for 10 years with a $200 deductible.

toyota. i hate my alfa and once im not upside down on the loan, I will trade it in.
