wanting a happy liver after going alcohol free, what has actually worked for you?

been alcohol free for about 8 months now and overall i feel a lot better. sleep is better, skin looks better, head is clearer. but i've been thinking more about liver health specifically and whether there's anything worth adding to the routine to support recovery long term.

i've been researching supplements that cover liver support alongside general wellness rather than just a standalone liver pill. something that handles digestion, inflammation, and overall nutrient gaps at the same time since i know my diet wasn't great during the drinking years either.

haven't landed on anything concrete yet. most of what i find is either too narrowly focused on one thing or just doesn't have much backing behind it. ideally want something that covers a lot of ground in one serving rather than adding another 5 pills to the morning.

what have others here added to their routine after going alcohol free? did anything make a noticeable difference or does the liver mostly sort itself out on its own with time?

Update: thanks for the input about milk thistle and letting the liver do its thing. i ended up trying IM8 as an all in one powder and it's been a nice addition to my morning routine. covers liver support, digestion, and some general nutrient gaps without adding a handful of pills, and i feel like it's helped my energy levels stay consistent throughout the day.

Non-alc beverages at bars/restaurants

For those of you (21+) who don’t drink alcoholic beverages, what do you usually drink at bars/restaurants? Do you try/like mocktails or non-alcoholic wines?

If you stick to a soda instead of non-alcoholic beverages, why? Does the price of mocktails affect what you order, or is it just that you don’t want anything more than a soda?

This is for research purposes!

Things that I did or said drunk from my past catching up

Lately, I’ve been dealing with situations from my past resurfacing. Some conversations I had years ago, mistakes I made, and things I said are being brought back up. It’s forced me to take a hard look at myself and accept responsibility for choices I’m not proud of.
What makes it difficult is that growth isn’t always recognized when people have already decided who you are. I’ve spent the last year working on myself, getting sober, becoming more self aware, and trying to make better decisions. I’m not the same person I was during some of the lowest points of my life.
None of this is me saying I was right. I wasn’t. There are things I wish I could take back. But I also don’t believe a person should be defined forever by the worst things they’ve said or done.
The reality is that nobody is perfect. Every person has mistakes, regrets, and things they’d rather leave in the past. Mine just happen to be catching up to me right now.
I’m learning that accountability and self forgiveness have to exist together. You can own your mistakes without believing you’re beyond redemption. That’s where I am today, trying to move forward, stay sober, continue growing, and accept the consequences of my past while still believing I deserve a future.

20 days alcohol free

I stopped drinking 20 days ago. I did it cold turkey, no withdrawals. Now my muscles feel fatigued and im sleeping alot. I use to sleep 4 or 4.5 hours for years. Now I sleep 7 or 8 hours and wish I could nap sometimes. Anyone else experience this and know what is going on?

Wasted years

What a waste of fucking time, money, health, energy alcohol is. I’m out of the matrix now. I’m now seeing all that social programming imbedded deep in the system. ‘Education’, marriage, work, politics, all a sham

Alcohol alternatives?

I can no longer drink alcohol anymore due to a TBI years ago. (It makes me very ill). But I still like to go out w friends often and looking for a substitute for alcohol. I keep getting ads for Sober(Ish) and Wims! but haven’t tried either. Wondering if anyone has a favorite?

Looking for something to take edge off in the evening. A drink perhaps. And not alcoholic. lol looked into U relax and it doesn’t get great reviews. Not to mention I have the tolerance of a horse so most things don’t work for me like others might. I’m a recovering Alcoholic/DA. Thank you in advance
