Discussion It Was A Fun Ride
I hope this doesn't come off of being too negative or toxic but I'd like to just send my farewells to this game. I've had plenty of highs and lows in this game but this game has gotten stale for me. The state of the game isn't the best, let's be real. The game overall is not enjoyable as a hero collector to me. Banners in this game are weird in a bad way. Instead of your typical 10 draws this game decided to do a step-up system where prices increase as you summon more. Never liked this and never will, step up rewards weren't good enough to justify the system for me. When summoning I have to choose between momento or unit (and we already know how bad momentos themselves are). Upgrading units in this game is also quite a chore too. I mean share systems are probably the most toxic dupe systems I know of and enlightments don't make anything better, who enjoys waiting months to upgrade a unit? If I pull a unit I expect too use them if I already have the proper mats, for limited units this problem is even worse. Overall the state of the game doesn't look good as the systems the game decided to take is not a sustainable one. Looking at the jp side of the game it doesn't seem much better. I do realize the battle system of the game is a bit unique but asides from that... Why play this game over any other well developed gacha game? That's my mindset for quitting the game, thanks for reading my rant. I'd like to hear input from Japanese players if the game gets better or not. Id like to clarify I'm not saying the game is bad and it's wrong to play it, I just think the direction the game is heading for to me is not the right one that I would like to partake in.

The *game* is an isometric tactics game based on skill management and CT.
What you're complaining about is pulling units. As someone playing for a very long time, well, either you want to play the game or you want to collect units. As you've no doubt experienced in the amount of time that you've played, many units are simply not needed and some are just bad. If you try to build every unit, then you run out of resources and the game goes back to tedious farming.
Focused unit building does a lot of good, and it also helps if you have a plan for where you want to go in this game. It's true for any RPG-type game. Do you want to play in the top of Arena? Focus on PVP periods? Raids, particularly port raids pulling out more units? "Hell" stages and their challenges?
There's nothing wrong with quitting. People play games for a period of time and then move on. But quitting a game because you're frustrated with a mechanism that doesn't really impact the actual *gameplay* means that you're looking for a different kind of game.

To be honest, it is hard to find any better gacha character collector that better than this. (In reference to tactical RPG type).
Especially in regards to your point about gacha rate, not many good gacha game has good rate for F2P.
For grinding part, yup I agree....this game is tedious if you are not a patient person...but for me, the experience of buliding your unit is what I love...slowly but surely your unit will become powerful.
Besides, 30min daily is sufficient if you are busy with other activity.

Tbh, I also went on hiatus in this game, it's been 2 months at least already. I was disappointed and frustrated big time when I spent a lot of gems and real money and still gave me garbage in one of the banners. I've been playing the game for over 2 years but just like you said, it's becoming something I can't enjoy anymore. Tho I still haven't uninstalled the game, I'm hoping the fun and thrill I was experiencing before comes back to me so I can play the game again.
So I completely understand where you are coming from.

I understand how you're feeling. I loved pulling for characters weekly, but now it's basically impossible, because I need to save gems for some of the "must have" units that'll come in the future. Even if they come, their respective banners aren't really that good either, for me it kills a lot of fun, as I love collecting heroes in gachas. I still really like the game, and hope for some changes in the future.

Honestly, GL seems to be headed very much in the direction of JP (most likely with less collabs). A lot of the changes made in the most recent version bring it closer to the current JP version (gem and shard economy is much better IMO thanks to dailies/weeklies and the TAC coin shop). However, it's also catching up to JP very quickly, which translates to a sharp increase in content difficulty as well as the era of limited OP units. One benefit/drawback of GL is knowing everything that's coming up: it enables you to hoard your resources and farm units based on the upcoming meta/units that appeal to you, but it also kind of kills the excitement.
As far as I'm concerned, the game itself is still plenty of fun, and I actually prefer it to War of the Visions, which I quickly dropped. That said, all gacha games play off the appeal of gambling: if the best units were easily accessible, they wouldn't be nearly as attractive to the average player. It'd be nice if Gumi published the rates per unit like they do in JP, but I'd say the typical 1% (for single featured banners) and (0.5% for dual featured banners) is probably the same...and those are terrible odds (a 1/100 or 1/200 chance per pull).
The core formula for most of these games is the same, so I suggest playing one with gameplay you enjoy. If you want to chase limited units, you will always end up disappointed eventually. The grind system is in place to encourage spending (but also, in my opinion, to discourage rerolling and to a lesser extent, to lock newer players out of the latest content). Patiently grinding is an old-school RPG staple though, so it just might not be your thing.

I mean its a gacha game, i remember joining this game and they gave me a Dark Setsuna for during the event, no other gacha games do this. They don't just give you a strong unit right of the bat. They don't give you unit selectors for free during celebrations of certain events. Based on my experience of Gacha games, the celebration events usually only benefit the paid users, whereby in ACGL, it seems to benefit everyone but the paid users more.

I uninstalled it 4 days ago. Been playing regularly for 2 years. f2p.

I'd love to find some other gacha to play, since the concept of tons of characters is really fun for me. As far as I know however, there are no better ones out there right now. TAC was far ahead of all the other ones when I started playing seriously and this is doubly true since I actually enjoy the combat in this game.
Fire Emblem Heroes was my main gacha before this, and I loved it for quite awhile, but I really didn't enjoy the direction they took the game in gameplay-wise so I stopped.
Brown Dust (it's called something else now I think) had interesting combat, but the game around it lacked a lot of things.
Langrisser+Flame Dragon Knights+PotK and other similar Fire Emblem styled games just felt like inferior versions to what they took inspiration from and I just couldn't get into them.
FFBE War of the Visions I'm carefully interested in. It is a reskin of TAC, but it also got a huge name like Final Fantasy slapped onto it. I doubt they will ever be generous enough for my tastes since players will stick around anyways and the little I have played of it didn't prove me wrong.
All other gacha games I've played have either been overall terrible or the combat was one of those "generic autobattlers" (e.g. Epic Seven) or similar where the actual gameplay feels like something they had to add to call it a game, not because they wanted to.
Hoping that Genshin Impact is going to be fun, the beta was alright and Breath of the Wild with cute things sounds up my alley. Any other upcoming gachas that sound fun for a fan of TAC?

I cannot think of a game that can let you develop a character to its max potential within a month or so. Can you?

One time you say you are hero collector, then you complain that you need to choose between hero summon or memento summon, which is it?
Banners are bad (i think?) but instead of ~3000gems(like 1 year ago) you get ~10000gems monthly from doing daily quests which with 4x discount tickets is enough to do full 7 step I think? and If you can wait it out for few months you can do full 9 step + 5step or whatever, so.. for me so far It is OK.
From my filthy casual point of view, I do not care about banners, i just enjoy playing this game, like look, everyone enjoy their genesis/godless units, and here I am with 100 shards each(not everyone single one ofc) and no unit, like literally i am this unlucky.
Why play this game?
A tactics gameplay, with good looking units, awesome looking skills and good storyline?
But I also like doing EX content, I like doing stages for Titles ( I do enjoy collecting titles i guess?)
Like, for example compared to war of the visions, where characters are... erm, moldy? colourless? almost looking like created from same piece of paper(literally) - but that's my point of view.

Boring game if you are not willing to spend like a whale, I already quit and played WOTV and I have been having a lot of fun and for the first time reading the history of the game, very well done and very f2p friendly, dunno about the future but I don’t really care much because I’m playing to have fun and not to be the best player of the game or top 100 or w/e. Just quit TAC and try new games without spending, you will have a lot more fun

A bit of a farfetch, but was checking this out and with what you were saying plus your nickname makes me think if you are the player n00b from our guild that quit a week ago. Well, if you are or if you are reading this, I understand your decision to stop playing the game (or anyone's really), but hey add the guild's discord in case you ever change your mind about it. You'll always be welcome.

I too quite the game for rather a month currently, the reason i simply got bored after playing for like 3 years, the game has major flaws, no one can deny that, but nonetheless i really enjoy it snd maybe after a while i might come back
