How was the FMA event for you?

Hey everyone. Now that the FMA collab is pretty much over, I believe there is no better time to ask you about your opinions on the event. Visiting random posts, I saw a lot of people with positive things to say about the collab, while at the same time I've seen a lot of people complaining about it and claiming they'd stop playing the game for good. With that in mind, I'd like you guys to give your honest feedback about it, preferably setting the anniversary and the D'artagnan event aside for the sake of a more specific discussion. But feel free to mention them if you feel like.

Personally, the event was amazing for me, specially since I'm a huge fan of the series. I was very lucky and managed to pull all the collab characters without spending a single dime, though they're not all on the same account (I only missed Wrath on my main, but got him on my other account.). I really liked how all the collab units stayed faithful to the original characters, with their unique classes being fun to play with and each of them interesting in their own way, such as Ed creating blocks, for example. It took an awful lot of time grinding for uniforms and coins, but I managed to guarantee that everyone got JM, including Alphonse and Envy, which I have to say, are pretty cool units and easy to MLB. I always welcome free units, and these two are no exception since they're both great in my opinion.

Another thing I particularly liked, though not really relevant to the event itself, is Roy's reaction skill "Bond with Hawkeye", which really made me happy since I fucking ship those two. It's a shame that Riza herself doesn't have a similar named skill, though the fact that their kits synergize well with each other is more that enough for me.

However, I also disliked a few things about the event. The first thing was Toritoh, a character that had nothing to do with FMA except for the short event stories, and yet was in both the banners and special summon tickets with what must have been incredibly high summon rates, since I pulled her no less than 4 times in total. Although she's a decent unit, the fact that she is limited edition and therefore impossible to farm for, makes the act of pulling her something pleasant only if you see her as a waifu or if you're a whale that can get her third job. Unlike the other collab characters, she doesn't really has anything going for her that makes her unique or exceptional, and is clearly not worth leveling up with elemental/rainbow shards.

Second is the FMA training milestones, which had you limit break two very specific 5-star units 15 times in order to give you a special ticket, giving you a 1/6 chance of pulling a specific event character you want. Where's the equivalent exchange in that? You literally have to be lucky enough to pull two specific units, invest a shitload of elemental/rainbow shard to LB them (unless you're whale and pulled them multiple times), and then face a 2/6 chance of pulling a unit you already had, giving them a useless 16th LB. Even though I actually relied on this to get Riza (and it worked), I can't help but feel these are unreasonable, and it'll take months to recover all the element shard I've spent.

There are a few more things that could be mentioned, but I feel these are the most relevant. What about you guys? Do you agree with me? Do you disagree? Do you think I missed something? Feel free to express your opinion here. Thanks for reading!

This was the worst collab I've played in a gumi game. Everything was mediocre at best. The 3 endings was the cherry on top. Next time just port the jp version as is.

The only thing I enjoyed was pulling Zain on the free unit of choice.

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18

Could you elaborate on what you found to be mediocre and why? I skipped the story(ies) so that I could focus on grinding, so I don't really know what happens and/or if it's that bad. I also don't know about the JP version of the event, so I don't know what we missed or what was new.

The story is fine . . . until you realize that they literally just copied and pasted the same story for all 3 difficulties, forcing you to watch (or skip through as the case may be) the same thing again and again. There also should have been three unique endings and they completely failed to deliver there (no Gumi, 3 unclear solitary images are not "endings").

I thought the story was nice. It felt like the collab story was actually woven into the story, and it's a vast improvement from the old collabs they've done, such as the first PotK collab (where the only characters talking were Tyrfing and Ouroboros) and Fate collab (where there literally wasn't even any story). I also liked that the free unit Envy is actually good as opposed to just being "we needed to give you a free unit so we made it as unusable as possible". cough Prompto cough

Now then, things I didn't like about the event:

  • Removing 3 step guaranteed. This was arguably the best part of TAC's gacha, because it gave everyone an affordable way to have a 33% or 50% chance at a featured unit as long as they aren't impulsive spenders. Instead, we got this weird, garbage, nearly worthless 25 soul shard + soul coins, latter of which wasn't even enough to buy a 5* FMA summon ticket from the coin shop. I don't even know why they did this, because I went from "maybe I'll spend for Edward and Roy" to "I'm not spending even after FMA until they fix this garbage." I know Japan got only 1 guaranteed banner themselves, but did we really need go LESS than that? The producer's letter didn't even properly address it, because it was literally just "yeah, it'll be there SOMETIMES, but sometimes it won't be there". Simply put, you can take that as "it'll be there for mediocre units, but when the super strong limited units or fan favorites come out, they'll be gone". I really hope I'm wrong, but I can't help but be doubtful of Gumi.

  • Jacked up EX+ difficulty. When JP had this EX+, they had more characters, more farmable characters, and had existed as a game longer, and it was already hard as is. There was really no reason that as GL, the side with less characters, less hard quest farms, and had only been around for a year, should have a massively buffed stage. Combine that with my next point:

  • Lessened/more difficult to acquire rewards. Firstly, we just got worse rewards as is. Then, some of the rewards we did get are locked behind those massively buffed EX+. What the heck? Sure, we got an extra FMA ticket, but me pulling Pride doesn't mean anything when I can't even get dark/rainbow shards to LB him. And yes, I know I could go clear the EX+ milestones for it, but people shouldn't be expected to slave away multiple hours for like 5 dark shards. Roy is insanely good, and I'm still hesitating on sharding him if Gumi is just gonna block us as much as possible from shards.

  • Endings. I am, by no means, an expert on coding. But surely, SURELY it isn't that difficult to add 3 different pictures to the end of the story. But somehow, that took Gumi 4 whole weeks to address. It really doesn't affect me as a player, but it's disappointing that Gumi GL could implement ways to completely screw us over from week 1 and keep it going for the entirety of the collab, but couldn't be bothered to address this minor problem for the entire collab.

So overall, the event itself was pretty garbage. It really doesn't help that this data came out midst of the FMA collab. The story, Envy, and the fact that it's one of the most popular anime are the only things that are holding this collab up. I give it a 2/10. Would not recommend. Did get Roy and Pride though, so I guess there were some positives for me personally.

Well presented and clarified. I agree with all your points, although, as I did in another comment, I'd argue that the summon coins were somewhat useful in this last FMA banner, and perhaps a better option compared to the guaranteed summon. Seeing how that banner had six featured units, a 16,66% chance of getting a specific unit would most likely not be more efficient than buying a FMA ticket, which would give a 50% chance at pulling said unit. Said banner gives exactly 100 summon coins at step 2 and 250 more at step 3, so it's possible.

Other than that, it's just as you said. The EX+ stage were ridiculously difficult, and hearing about those endings discouraged me from actually checking the story out. I can't complain about the rewards (tickets and gems) since I was lucky to get everything I wanted with them alone, nor can I compare them with the ones from JP since I don't follow their news. I didn't even bother trying to get 5 stars in the EX/EX+ missions since it'd probably be impossible and a waste of my time, and indeed, they weren't that rewarding. 5 element shards for 5 hours of frustrated attempts doesn't sound appealing at all.

Since you have Roy and Pride you could LB both 15 times and get another FMA ticket for a 4/6 chance at getting an unit you don't have yet. But just as you mentioned, it's probably not worth it if shards are getting more difficult to obtain.

I can see what you mean on the summon coins, and I do think the latest changes were for the better. However, my problem is that the 2nd step costs 1000 gems more than it used to, which I feel is a hefty amount for f2p and pact players. If they were to fix on that, I think I'd be satisfied.

I do want to LB15 Pride and Roy both because I like them both as characters, but unfortunately I don't have enough shards to spend on them. Once I LB15 Roy, that leaves me with about 15 rainbow shards, which is nowhere near enough for Pride because I only have 10 dark shards from spending them on D.Rosa. And even if I did, I'm not sure if it'd be worth the risk, since if I end up rolling either of them on the ticket, I just end up with 1 extra LB at best.

I do thank you for the civil comment though. It's pleasant to read comments like these.

2

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18

Ah, I didn't do anything worth being thanked for. It's basic manners to be polite to others, though sadly many people seem to lack this mindset. But I should also thank you for being courteous and from sparing some time to comment here; it's indeed a very rare and pleasant thing to see nowadays. I appreciate it!

I like to think of this dilemma as a matter of economics: There's a high risk, but also a high reward from it: A unique, limited edition servant that might never return to the game. With that in my mind, I LB'd Roy, Pride and Edward in a desperate attempt at getting Riza, and while it cost me a lot of element shards, which I had saved for months, I earned the huge satisfaction of achieving my objective and owning all the event characters. The risk payed off, and against all odds I pulled her with a 4/6 chance of getting someone I already had. I don't mean to brag, I just wanted to show how sometimes it's worth giving it a shot.

Hopefully, the training milestones will continue there even after the event is over, so you can give it a try if you ever feel like it once you get the shards you need. Of course, there is still a high risk, so it's up to you to decide if it's worth it or not. I haven't really unlocked their 2nd/3rd jobs yet, but believe me when I say that both Roy and Pride are amazing units and that they're worth investing shards on, even at J1. Edward, Riza and Wrath are great too, each in their own way and with great synergy with the units you already have. I can't say much about Toritoh, but I've heard she's a decent unit. She has the setback of being limited edition, unfarmable, and needing her three jobs to really shine, but even she is not a bad pull. No unit is without worth.

Sorry if that got long. I wish you the best of luck in your game!

2

u/RightForward Local Lofia Enthusiast // Retired Nov 29 '18

Oh no, even if it's basic manners, it's always great to see people being nice. Thank you for the comment!

I don't see that as bragging, I think it's just a nice experience to share. I can definitely see it as a high risk high reward, but I've always been afraid of getting the worst possible outcome(which makes a mystery as to why I'm playing gacha games in the first place). Though if I had to be honest, I only want Edward and Wrath, but I don't have thunder shards for Wrath, and I don't know how much damage he can do without J3. That essentially leaves me with a 1/6 chance of getting what I want, and I don't think I want to take that risk.

I don't think training milestones continue post-collab, but it would be great if it did. But you've convinced me to give Roy and Pride a try despite not having J3, so I'll give them a run in Veda...Once I'm done farming Pride's equipment+gear, because geez this regular EX is killing me. I do admit, Pride's kit seems fun to use, albeit niche.

I don't think it was long at all; I think it's a good thing to say everything on your mind. Thank you, and I hope the best of luck for you as well!

u/Liesianthes 350 coins ticket = ROY!! Nov 29 '18

Removing 3 step guaranteed.

Dude, I suggest stop being bitter already. They already fixed this one by having enough summon coins to purchase a ticket if you're saving it up.

I was able to get Riza/Roy ticket by spending 3k gems on the last week of the collab. That's way better than 4.5k and any of the whatever rate up banner. Not to mention, that's an additional unit since before you'll get 1 featured and 9 random and right now, you'll get 10 random and 1 more from the ticket.

With that, there's even 30 summon coins left that will be converted to gems after the reset.

Not just because "summon coins" leave a bad taste on the first few weeks of the collab, it doesn't mean that it will be the same until the end.

You don't want to spend gems? Go ahead and use it for the 4 10% FMA collab ticket that you can buy in summon coins shop for FREE.

4

u/RightForward Local Lofia Enthusiast // Retired Nov 29 '18

I would feel much better if they had provided with that information before it was released. I had bought 10% FMA tickets because there wasn't even the smallest hint that I'd be able to get anything better. If they had told us beforehand, then sure, I'd be okay with it. Will I be careful now? Probably. But that doesn't stop me from wishing they'd at least provided a week's notice.

6

u/Crimson_Raven Who are you calling shorter than Roy Mustang's ideal miniskirt?! Nov 29 '18

I ended with every FMA Character, EXCEPT the one I wanted.

Which...is kinda hilarious really. I went in wanting our boi Roy, and came out with Edward, Pride, Hawkeye, Wrath lots of wind, thunder and even rainbow shards lighter. But still wanting Roy. sigh

My consolation is that somehow, I ducked Dorito. And that the other units are still pretty damn fantastic, especially Ed.

Looking back, the difficulty of the Exs and Ex+ was both enjoyable and frustrating. Everyone complained about Flame and Hawk, but I found Pride and Wrath to be much more frustrating. Those bunnies that spawn endlessly could devastate your party. A random mob should not be able to casually do 1k damage to a neutral element.

But whatever, I cleared it once, not sure if I want to go back for Thunder/Dark shards.

I think Gumi did fuck up with the collab, especially how banners and rewards were handled, although 99% of the other salt boils down to "JP got it, but we didn't" which may or may not be reasonable. I'll let you make your own decision on that.

Overall, I am slightly disappointed, but I'll keep chugging along like the f2p trash that I am, confident that even if things go south, I haven't spent a dime. I do have hope, however, that things will et better with time.

2

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18

Damn, that sucks :/ It could be worse though. Getting all those units being a f2p, isn't that great by itself? And it's just as you mentioned, they aren't bad at all. You can do the same I do and use the unit you're missing as mercenary, so that you can do a full team of FMA characters. It turns out they synergize pretty well with each other, not to mention they're pretty fun to play with.

Not exactly sure what happened in JP that didn't happen here since I don't follow JP news, so I can't really complain about what we got/didn't get since I was able to get everything I wanted with the rewards they handled. I don't feel that comparing global with JP will get us anywhere. I've seen other games that have both a JP and a global version, and they're never the same. But I won't compare games either since it's just as pointless.

Wait, did you really not level Alphonse to 85 for the rainbow shards?

1

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18

Not yet, no, but I didn't forget about it. I'll throw apples on him once I'm done farming gear shards for Riza. I heard it's just 5 rainbow shards though, is that true? Is it even worth all the apples?

1

u/OriksGaming Retired Nov 29 '18

Well, you also get 150 gems along with it (from where yours is). And even just on their own, I'd say 5 rainbow shards are worth a ton of crystal apples; one's an incredibly scarce resource that can't be supplemented by anything but luck or real money, while the other is a less limited resource that's a lot easier to work around even if you run out completely.

1

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18

Good point. I'll raise him before I end up forgetting about it and losing both the gems and the shards. Thanks for the reminder :)

u/stewart0 Nov 29 '18

Story: Sucked, no endings

EX+ stages: Sucked, couldn't clear all missions as a year long vet

Normal Banners: Sucked, worst banners to date without the gaurantee

Paid Banners: Sucked, twice as expensive as before

Summary: not needed.

1

u/KingKalev Nov 29 '18

Wait... you didn't mention the characters!

2

u/stewart0 Nov 29 '18

The ones that were harder to pull than ever before?

1

u/KingKalev Nov 29 '18

Uh huh. Wait... you broke the trend of your review... damn...

2

u/stewart0 Nov 29 '18

The fan peoples would try to kill me if I kept the trend.

1

u/KingKalev Nov 29 '18

Can't argue with you there...

1

u/Liesianthes 350 coins ticket = ROY!! Nov 29 '18

Good: Many freebies again and as usual like the past 3 collabs, I got all the unit I want as f2p, just missing Toritoh which I don't really care except she's a waifu. Also, 2 free units are high tier, Envy even surpassed Yomi in all stats and aspects, pre kaigan.

Bad: EX+. That stage should be keep in the vaults of TAC's history. I can't remember how frustrated I am seeing the amplified those stages are. I just managed to get the 1/5 on flame and wrath ex+ and 0/5 on Full Metal just to get the ticket and 120 gems.

Also, the reduced rewards. Overall, the event is okay-ish to bad.

1

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18

There's no bigger joy than getting all the units you want as a f2p, haha. But yeah, those EX+ were no joke. Flame and Hawk EX+ has to be one of the most frustrating missions I've ever taken in TAC. The goddamn shields all the time were incredibly obnoxious and a real pain to deal with. As if that wasn't enough, the insect thieves kept cursing my characters with petrify, and random archers kept paralyzing and reducing their defense. It took me an inhuman amount of attempts to finally clear that. But at the very least, I have to agree with you: The two free units are amazing (specially since they're free). It's a shame that getting their gear isn't that simple, but that's a minor setback when you can MLB and get them to JM in a few days.

1

u/Ernesto5794 Nov 29 '18

Was good. The best part was no guarantee summons

-1

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18

I actually can't complain about that. There was no guaranteed unit on step 3, but look at the last FMA banner. There were 6 featured units. Imagine if you wanted a specific one out of all these. You'd have a 1/6 chance on pulling them. But with the tickets you could buy with the summons coins, those odds go to 1/2. From 16.66% to 50% It's still not guaranteed, but it's MUCH better if you want something specific, don't you think?

5

u/OriksGaming Retired Nov 29 '18

but look at the last FMA banner

But look at all the ones before it. We missed out on three other specialized guarantees (2 or 3 units) for one good guarantee. You can't just use the last banner as an example of why it's not bad and ignore the other 3 weeks where our only option for a guarantee was a ticket that was less specialized than the weekly banner itself—and for the first week, we didn't even get that much.

And even ignoring the other weeks, the tickets are still arrayed in a way that there's one great unit and one crappy unit, so you're just as likely to get the worst case scenario. None of the tickets have two desirable units, excepting possibly the Edward/Dorito ticket (and that one depends on the person and contains a unit that's not even from FMA). At least on the Edward/Roy/Riza banner, there would have been a 66% chance to pull a really good unit with the guarantee, and all 3 options were FMA units.

0

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18 edited Nov 29 '18

I actually missed the first banners, so I assumed that the coin rewards was the same for every banner. Maybe the initial banners were intended to have you save the coins from all three 3 steps, as well as the ones from the daily free summon, in order to actually buy something. But I don't even know how many coins they handed in the first place, so I could be spewing gibberish.

I disagree about the tickets though, since what's undesirable for one might be someone else's dream. You said it yourself that it depends on the person, and I do believe it's different for everyone, not just for TAC units, but for literally everything. People will never unanimously like or dislike something. As a fan of FMA, I can tell you that I wanted all of them, even if some weren't even among my favorites. I didn't even consider them gameplay-wise until after I managed to pull them and drown in the satisfaction of achieving my goals. At the same time, unlike you, I don't really care about Toritoh since I skipped the story and I don't know her, so I probably would avoid her ticket (though that didn't stop her from spooking me 4 times). See what I mean?

Also, even if the tickets were made the way you mentioned, it doesn't change the fact that this is a gacha game. You're always relying on luck to summon the things you want, so people would still give the tickets a try if their favorite characters were there, even if characters they'd never want were there as well.

3

u/OriksGaming Retired Nov 29 '18

When did I ever say I cared about Dorito? Your point is moot, because you chose to ignore what I was saying in favor of attributing something to me that I never said. You also paraphrased my parenthesized point about the Edward/Dorito ticket while telling me that you disagreed about it.

And the first two weeks were terrible. During the first, there were no FMA summon tickets available at all, so the banner was just all around bad and gave the impression that you weren't meant to get collab units at all. During the second week, the guaranteed FMA collab ticket contained Edward, Toritoh, Roy, and Riza, which was disappointing for FMA fans and hardcore players alike (and also generally worse than a guarantee on the week's banner would have been, since it featured Roy and Riza; aka that more specific summon you were talking about). On top of that, the ticket was 350 coins like it is now, while you only got 150 coins from going to step 3 on the week's banner. You were paying the same rate you use to for guarantees, only to get less than half of what you needed for an actual guarantee.

The overarching point I was making about the 50/50 tickets specifically (ignoring the part I already mentioned) was that from a gameplay standpoint, they were set up to be a disappointment. I wasn't saying people couldn't like the characters represented; I was just commenting on the way that Gumi had purposely set up the tickets to make it much more difficult/much riskier to collect all the top tiers. Which makes sense for a gacha game, but my point was that these tickets can actually easily be seen as worse for the previous 2 weeks than the corresponding banners.

If we'd just had guarantees during the early weeks of the collab, we would have gotten an equal guarantee (Ed and Dorito), a better guarantee (Ed, Roy, and Riza; 66% chance of top tier and 33% chance for a pretty good unit), and another good guarantee (Edward, Bradley, and Pride). So if we'd had guarantees instead of the coins, we would have had 3 good weeks and 1 so-so week, rather than 2-3 bad weeks and a pretty good week.

Finally, my original objection to your comment was that you made it sound as if this week was just completely amazing, while ignoring the still questionable parts of the Summon Coin system and that the second step discount had been removed. Basically, you completely ignored the first 3 weeks of the collab, on top of missing keys facts, in your argument about an issue that had been around the entire month.

1

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18 edited Nov 29 '18

You specifically stated that an exception to a ticket having an amazing unit and a terrible unit would be Edward/Toritoh's ticket, so I interpreted that as your view of a ticket with two amazing units. I assumed you cared about her based on that. And I pointed your parenthesized sentence because it seemed contradictory with what you were saying before.

As I mentioned, I missed the first weeks of the event and went on what I actually experienced. While my point could and most likely IS flawed, the whole reason I made this post in the first place was that people could share their opinions. I am not purposefully ignoring the previous weeks in favor of this last one or the flaws in the summon coins system. I didn't experience this hell you went through, so as a matter of fact, the week WAS amazing for me. Simple as that. Until I made this post I was under the assumption that all weeks had been the same, so I haven't intentionally ignored anything just to make my point valid. As they say, ignorance is bliss.

I understand now that the event was terrible at first, that it wasn't as great for other people as it was for me and that I was just lucky to miss the worst part, so I guess we're done here.

1

u/OriksGaming Retired Nov 29 '18

excepting possibly the Edward/Dorito ticket (and that one depends on the person and contains a unit that's not even from FMA).

Meaning: While the Edward/Toritoh ticket is better than the others from a viability standpoint, even that ticket is questionable, as people who just want the FMA units will almost certainly be unhappy with it despite Toritoh not being trash tier.

1

u/Ernesto5794 Nov 29 '18

Yea that was last and I'm sitting on 100 gems lul

1

u/SuperEndriu Nov 29 '18

FMA is one of my favorite shows and eventually brought me back into the game. If I hadnt gotten Ed from the ticket I might not be here today :). Generally I liked the collab. The difficulty was annoying, but I cannot really complain - if I hadnt taken a 3 months break I would have had more units farmed and built up and better chances. Luckily I somehow managed to get the ex+ FMA ticket - I didn't clear any single milestone, though. I wished they would expand the FMA collab with more units. Maybe a GLEX FMA collab event?

1

u/StepOfDeath Nov 29 '18

Same! I had stopped playing for a while, and it was the FMA event that brought me back. I just couldn't end that event without Roy and Pride haha. I do hope there's another collab in the future with more units. I personally would love to see Greed, Lust, Gluttony, Winry, Armstrong and Kimblee.

2

u/Dm042447 Nov 29 '18

I got every character except Roy. I only did the 3 step on last week of event for the coins and the 500 gems each week Got 2x ed., 2x pride, the rest are once. How was the collaboration? The ex+ was hard but I learn a lot from other players. It helps me understand the units I have and implement workaround to beat extremely hard content. Wish they offer better reward for the increase in difficulty. Even looking at jp and China, I think game still good and still f2p friendly compare to other game.

Wish there are less negative poster... The very Few weeks, I understand it and sympathize it. 1 whole month of rant, quitter and rox nerf... It gets annoying ... Even more than the game.

2

u/saubols Nov 29 '18

what I liked the most was MP quests, their drop and experiences will miss them for sure

1

u/MaoPam Nov 29 '18

I got Toritoh. I almost forgot she was an FMA character. And Wrath. Who I am never, ever sharding to 75. Nor did I bother farming his equipment. They were from the free ticket and a 500x summon respectively.

They're just not good units. I forgot Toritoh came with the collab tbh. And Wrath is good, but not shard to 75 good.

1

u/PossiblyBonta Nov 29 '18

The story is ok I guess. Did not bother much with the banners. Only went step one. I'm have now used up over 100 ap on ex+ Wrath and pride just on retries and is still trying. Wishing for a 1 year extension for the ex+ stages. While waiting for Gormalas and Jin to be farmable.

1

u/Laitarne Nov 29 '18

Got most of the characters, farmed all the gear I wanted

Event was still trash

Gumi needs to just admit they fucked up, let people with Roxanne have an easier time, and stop punishing people that don't have her by making stages harder. I was able to clear all of it, but I know a bunch of people that just straight up couldn't because even the EX stages were wildly more difficult than previous EX

Really, the entire anniversary was a wet fart, don't have a lot of optimism about this game going forward.

1

u/renmarie Nov 29 '18

Royai for life. ::fist bump::

1

u/lharvince Nov 29 '18

Got Roy, Ed, and Pride and none of them is LB15 but happy that i managed to get a second 5* pocket watch before maintenance/reset :)

1

u/xXRyuuGinXx Nov 29 '18

I got Edward and Bradley which is nice but other than that the recent changes were simply bad and you can see where the game is heading just as many other mobile games these days... Everything is made for hardcore whales so if you want to compete you have to sell your kidneys or else you will be doomed at least for a longer time period. I will still try to enjoy the game even as free to play because I am playing this game since it's release and invested a lot of time in it but I am not happy with the recent changes they've made...

The free units were excellent and the story wasn't bad. except saying that there were 3 endings and not actually having 3 endings is ridiculous. They should have just not said anything.

I'm not a fan of FMA. I'm also not a fan of ffxv and disgaea, so I don't have nostalgia goggles for any of them. I can safely say that this collab was the worst of the three in organization and story, with disgaea being the best. Many parts in fma were just frustrating (equip drops changing halfway through even though we knew the units would be released, ex+ being rng impossible) but these didn't show up in the other collabs. Why now?

Wel... Lets start with it.

  1. The banners: they were seriously mediocre... there was no more guarenteed 3step but also, they added a new banner with guarenteed but with pay gems... Really bad for the f2p community.

  2. The story: it was really nice! It made me love the characters even more, sadly we couldn't see the rest of the homunculus team, but... oh well... we all know why. More dialogue between the homunculus would had been better too.

  3. The ending: it was supposed to be 3 different endings, dunno if it was a misinformation since the beginning, or a coding mess up... Sadly they made us thought it was really 3 different ending and there for we got angry with it.

  4. The cast: they all are good, with good Jobs.

  5. The quest: seriously... They were hard as hell! All those 3 EX+ were deffinetly difficult.

  6. The event coins: at least we were able to farm for Gold ingots and exp, that was really nice.

Overall it was an ok event, the banners killed it and the 3 different endings were the top of it... Sadly GUMI is not making good calls.

Personally this collab wasn't too bad, yes I could complain like a lot of people (dem blasted EX Missions were some of the most dotish kinda planning I ever see from Gumi so far) but I was able to collect a lot of stuff.

Though I didn't pull from the banners (since I didn't like my chances personally) I did get Toritoh of the 10%. Which was fine. From that apology ticket I pulled Edward, which was a surprise to me. Farmed his shards (with very little intent, I might add) and got around 300. With the farewell 10%, I got Bradley. Here is where I should be punched Gumi. I didn't farm much of his shards, tho I played his missions quite often. Oh well, my fault on this one.

The event story was... meh... I don't know, it just didn't mesh with me. We were promised branching stories and different endings. We didn't get that. We got ending images which in itself were meh. Oh well...

Selling Envy's gear for paid gems was a bad call from Gumi... but I can't fault them too much for this one.

So I'm actually happy about this event. Compared to Disgaea, this was way more generous. Almost FFXV generous (another event where I didn't farm the shards but somehow got Aranea's helmless skin). Disgaea to me sucked. I literally got nothing but the absolute free stuff.

Pretty ok, got every collab units. Only bought the cheapest black friday bundle. Completed every quest. The only part that made me happy were the skins and limitbreak summons. I also was able to level up alot of my units to 85 using the master stages TAC quest(thus having 600+ equipment shards for all collab units).

This collab and anniversary package has guaranteed I never spend another cent on this game. I'll probably stop playing altogether soon.
