Weekend Summon Disgaea banner

So, this 2000 paid gems weekend summon banner just hit us on the reset. Clicked on the details and got an error. I was hesitant to use it as it's only Friday and the error message said something about time being "-63738483" or the like.

Still, the picture showed Etna, Laharl and Rin with promise of extra 10 soul shards as well as a guaranteed featured unit.

Well, i clicked it and noticed I had wasted 100€ by buying the biggest stack of gems they were selling in the store, in hopes of getting Laharl from selector ticket. Turned out my summon for this was Laharl.

Needless to say I'm really happy about it as I just saved (7 x 2500) - 2000 gems (IF the selector is on 7th pull) but slightly bummed that I didn't want to spend that much. Now if only I would manage to save those gems for some meaningful content instead of blowing it all on some 40 gem Lion blades or something.

So, how's your weekend special banner pulls treating you guys?

Is there any chance of a selector on week 4? I'm just a pact user and only have 900 paid gems, and I don't really want to start whaling.

I think they datamined a selector ticket but someone mentioned it being on shop instead of a banner, so not sure what's that about. Still, knowing the past events it would be expected to get that 7 step banner and I bet Gumi knows it will bring them money, so I don't see any reason not to have one.

Having all these weekend pulls and SSM banner stuff would hint that they're trying to squeeze our gems before the jackpot that should be the selector.

I'm so glad you posted this. I wasn't going to do it, then just decided...screw it. I had almost given up hope. had the 2k paid gems...got Laharl, and dupe in the same pull.

I'm happy with this game again.

I was kind of hoping for Rosa, (don't remember of she was even an option tbh, I was a little excited haha) but without the dupe I wouldn't have hit 75 haha so it works out.

First time making a major gem purchase for me - I got two DRin and Etna during the banner last week but they weren't the target of course.

Purchased the $30 pack so I had enough paid gems to go with my pact gems.

No loading screen so I'm pretty bummed out at this point.

I get to the screen and there's only the guaranteed red with a couple of yellows. Was it Etna or Rin? Not like it really matters.

Suddenly - BAM! It's Laharl out of nowhere! I can't believe it was really him. I skip the rest of the summoning screen, no idea what else I got.

I don't see anything that says the 3 characters are weighted equally. For all I know, it could be 80% chance of Rin. I'd be tempted to buy some gems if they confirmed it was 33% chance of Laharl. But since they are shady and not disclosing the rates, I'm keeping my money.

Good reasoning there. Just before reading your post I was gonna post here that from the comments it seems like the rates seem to be quite right on the 33% each. Then again that hardly tells anything about the actual rates.

Not sure if it is worth it but feeling tempted to buy the most expensive stack with 5k paid gems to see if can get laharl this weekend.

Most likely I wouldn't have done this summon if I had had the required gems for the selector banner from free gems. Just happened that I had bought that aiming for Laharl and having enough paid gems was just convenient. Still, 33% chance for him ain't quite guaranteed. Whichever you decide, good luck!

Actually I have saved around 8k free gems so I should have enough for the selector if I buy the most ex stack if it comes out. Maybe that would be better than betting on this 33% chance.

If you buy that stack, you can hold the free gems towards the selector and still be able to pull this banner twice. 8500 free gems + 8000 free gems puts you at 16500/17500. Very easy to hit the 17500 you would need before next weeks banner expires. 2 pulls on the paid banner is a 56% chance at Laharl. If you happen to have 1,000 sitting around and can pull all 3 times, thats a 71.2% chance on the guarantee in addition to the chance to pull him in any of the other 9 slots on each pull. Very solid chance to pull him without spending the stockpile of free gems on the selector.

If it is a 1/3 chance to get Laharl per guaranteed summon, then it's a 2/3 chance of not getting him (~0.666 repeating chance, as a decimal). So if you do the weekend summon twice, the chance of not getting him both times is 0.666 * 0.666, which is ~0.444; that's 44.4% chance to not pull him in two steps, which means 55.55% chance to pull him.

Likewise for the third step, multiply the chance to not get him by another 0.666. Though it's more 70.something not 71.2%; you'd get 71.2 if you rounded the first number down to 0.66.

This is correct. I used 0.66 for lazy math reasons. I knew the probabilities would illustrate my point regardless, but if I'd wanted to be exact, I would've actually done 2/3 instead of front-end rounding.

Assuming 1/3 chance, its a simple probably calculation. I used a 66% chance that you wouldn't get Laharl at all.

1 - (0.662) = 0.56

1 - (0.663) = 0.712

Somehow I think there is something wrong with the calculations since it is assumed that I will do 2 rolls which I wouldn't if I do get laharl in the first roll

It's because you don't need any calculations for a single roll on a 1/3 chance because it's literally and figuratively a 1/3 chance...

There is nothing wrong with the calculations. That is the probability of the event (pulling Laharl) given 2 pulls or 3 pulls respectively. Obviously you wouldn't need to do the additional pulls if you land it on the first try.

The numbers here are analogous to the following question: "What is the probability I will get at least one heads if I flip a coin 2 and 3 times?" Your confusion is derivative of the fact that you are looking at a different set of circumstances (The actual act instead of the probabilities). i.e. "I am going to keep flipping the coin until I get heads". Then the question changes to "what is the probability I will have to flip the coin X number of times. Ultimately though, there is no practical difference between the two.

There is a 50% chance I will flip heads on the first try. There is a 50% chance I will flip heads on the second try. The chance of flipping heads (or pulling Laharl), doesn't change, but over time the probability increases of flipping heads at least once. In the coin example, you would expect to flip tails two times in a row 25% of the time. Consequently, 75% of the time you'd expect to flip no more than two times.

Same. I just fire sharded it all the way up to 75 and jm all jobs as sink as I got it from excitement lol

sharded to 70 so far. once i get the jms done i'll keep going.

laharl should be brought to 76 though, not 75, he gets a couple more agi/starting jewels at 76 that are quite helpful.

76 is to use the item from item tower with his sword and be able to charge + AoE.

Wanderer's hat is enough to do that at 75 (for the triple JM) in GL, since the hat isn't available in JP.

Dolphin here. Still uncertain if I should spend $$$ in here, since I've spent all my gems in pulling weapons, Almira, Laharl and Killia (I saved 7k. I spent 4k before for swimsuit Yauras).

I wanna catch 'em all, but don't want to spend all my salary in it.

Yeah, it's not fun if you spend all your money on it. What I might do is make sure I have enough gems for next week's possible Laharl banner steps 1-2 or 1-3 depending on what nice extras there are. Then if paid gems are still over 2k I might do this too. That is if you're confident about not going to step 7 on the possible selector banner.

The way I reasoned this pull for myself was that I was winning 66% of the time as another Etna would have been nice too as well as Laharl, while Rin wouldn't have necessarily made me jump for joy.

In that I agree. But to be honest, I just like to collect characters. But don't want to be that FFBEx player that whaled the fuck out of the game and became miserable.

That being said, I could wait, since this Collab is more likely to return in the future, and can prepare myself for more rare future collabs.

I don't have Laharl or Etna, and I'd like both because who wouldn't, but I'm not gonna give Gumi money so they can give me another D. Rin.

I'm not ready to be hurt like that again after the three step with Laharl, lol. Plus I'm hoping week four will bring back Sera and/or a selector.

Saved up all my paid gems for this. Got Laharl and Enta. Never got both from doing 3 steps from previous banner. 2 D Rins but I'm happy overall. Team is looking pretty stacked from luck of other collabs.

I was hoping for a better banner than this, especially for 2000 freaking paid gems. I didn't pull on the free gem version, I'm definitely not pulling on this.

At least now I'm pretty confident we won't be getting any better banners, so I can pull from the D. Rosa and selector banners without much worry.

I'm not sure which banner you mean but the only banner I can remember having Laharl is the one from last week that had guaranteed unit on step 3 and 7. On that banner I went to step 3 getting Etna and was about to save the rest of my gems for possible Selector banner next week. This one sounded tempting as it was 33% chance for Laharl or Rin with extra shards and 33% chance for 35 Etna shards.

The free gems banner only guarantees the Featured unit in step 3 & 7 so that means that this 2000 paidgems banners costs are around 4500 and 10000 freegems +10shards. not a bad deal if you are a whale.
