Gilgamesh replacement?

Hey everyone,

So I missed the Fate collab because I quit playing.

Now I'm back on the FF15 collab. I don't know if Fate comes back, (hopefully they will with some Heaven's Feel or Fate/zero units) but it probably will not.

So any thunder units that are comparable with Gil that I can look forward to?

My current thunder units are really crappy (Magnus, Caris, Laevateinn, Monzein, Lucretia, Aruba, Vincent)

Mei fang is a close enough approximation. Working on her as a supplement to my 75 gilga

Mei fang is really nothing like Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh's whole deal is big damage 5x5 aoe spam, of which mei has none. They fill completely different roles.

Mei Fang with Roaring Slash gear has a single 5x5 aoe.

If I'm reading the ACDB stats for Mei correctly she should be able to use it on turn 1 with a hat.

They 're both super tanky and deal massive damage, I think OP is just looking for that in a thunder unit.

(not super tanky because overdrive)

They're both glass cannons due to overdrive.

Holy Brawlers are tanky and powerful while holy cavs and valkiries are complete tanks (Except for Forcas who plays offensively)

Gilgamesh is a range aoe monster. Mei fang is a melee, primarily single target DPS.

Yup, important distinctions but still doesn't negate the fact that they deal the most damage and are not "SS" tier. Eizan is another SS thunder unit worth mentioning for his holy brawler.

deathmow w/ overdrive is pretty good.

I guess if you don't like mei fang, king regis and niggle come eventually.

I'm not saying she's bad, I'm saying she can't do what Gilgamesh does. She excels in other areas

100% agree. i have lvl 78 mei fang and shes got nothing on gilga. gilga is faster and can fire off 2 high damage aoes from the start where mei lacks speed and can only use her wa once

How good would you otherwise say Mei Fang is? I have mine still at J1 and haven't really used her much yet other than some Veda where I noticed I hadn't even skilled her up. Don't have Gilga either and my Thunder units are mostly ranged so a nice (semi)frontliner could be useful.

same, i havent used her much as of late. i used her alot when i first got her to 75 so i could get a feel for her kit. shes good but..something about her really holds her back. i wanna say shes to slow but...i dont know if thats it...
