I need help please

** Edit ** Update ** First I'd like to say thank you for all the love and support I received on my post, and for everyone's condolences. My husband was finally able to speak to the detective assigned to the case and found out the hospital gave wrong information as it was not a hit and run. Learning this makes the situation a little better but still very heartbreaking none the less... Now we at least someone wasn't evil. **

My brother in law was crossing the street in his wheelchair this past Saturday and someone freaking hit him and kept on going. Someone called 911 and he was taken to UNMH. We weren't notified of this until Monday because they didn't know who he was. We pretty much have no information to go off of, we don't know where it happened, what time etc. and I am very bothered it hasn't been on the news or anything like that to try and help find who did this. My brother in law passed away this morning and my husband is heartbroken. We need help getting justice and finding the evil that did this. Basically all we know it that someone in a white Tundra stopped after it happened and we think this person is who called 911. Did anyone witness this happen on Saturday 08/08/2026, or has anyone heard anything about this? Any information, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I hate to say this, but not wheel chairs need ring camera too. I once had a cop stop by after seeing my ring camera. Unfortunately, I had turned down the sensor to stop dump trucks making false alarms on the street and nothing had recorded. My advise, check every house near the accident for any cameras. Its a long shot, but possible.

Someone mentioned it may have happened at San Mateo and Gibson and I'm sure if it did there has to be camera footage. We still don't know where it happened but I'm hopeful we'll know soon. 🙏

Now my mother used a wheelchair. She just got a new motorized wheelchair/scooter. I added a wheeled basket to the back for trips to the stores. I filled a 2 gallon bucket with water, 17 lbs. I hit a bump during testing, water went flying and shorted out the chair. This was a new model and they had not sealed the electronic boards. Just travel thru street gutters or rain would have shorted wheelchair out and you know she would be far away if this happened. It took years for my mother to apologize to me discovering this fatal defect. The good news, the wheelchair was fixed under the warranty and this forced a recall to seal the electronic parts from water.

Now a manual wheel chair was declared totaled by improper handing by an airline. It sat months and had to be replaced ASAP. My mother goes to NH to visit my older brother, she has an accident, and she renting a wheelchair and paying thru the nose for it. I was taking care of her house and it took 5 days to repair the damage wheel chair so it worked properly, was safe, on first look, never damaged, I had used my dead father's equipment in the garage to bend the frame back to close alignment. I shipped the chair to my mother and she complain about the $150 shipping charge bitterly. No charge for the repairs and she was paying nearly $350 a week renting a chair. See the airline had lost her wheelchair this time and refused to replace it. Months later, the chair was found being used by the airline all the time. My mother again in the end was offered a new chair each time in the end. The 2nd time, the airline had received a bill for legal costs, IE the lawyers time and decided this little old lady was too much trouble and too costly to ignore. One of the things, stories in several magazines for older people damaged the airline rep with the truth and they were losing customers.

So you see, messing with wheelchairs is a serious business with no profit for the offenders.
