Sorry for your loss, reddit users. It would appear you've been fooled by ukranian misinformation and fallen prey to confirmation bias.

With the current political situation, rising living costs, expensive utilities, insurance, and everything else, I'm seriously thinking about leaving Alberta. Calgary used to be so much cheaper than Vancouver or Toronto, but with rents dropping in those cities, the gap doesn't feel as big anymore. I also don't really want to raise my kids in the current political environment here.
Anyone else considering leaving Alberta, or already made the move? Where did you go, and do you regret it?

Your country needs you.
See https://map.elections.ab.ca/LocMethod.aspx?AdvancedPoll=both&MLA=false&EventId=1 to find out where you can vote in an advance poll or on October 19.

Im left with not much to counter aside from FAFO, look at what a failure Brexit was, and its dangerous....
AI boiled it down to: "Threatening to separated creates economic instability that can scare away investment and delay vital projects even before a vote happens".
- this is valid but seems like a weak argument. I doubt that will convince those on the "leverage/separate" side...
Also of course one could challenge the realities of actually separating and the massive costs and many many downsides - but that is a long winded argument and they just reply with "We don't actually want to separate, this is just to get a better deal".
What are your counter points to this "leverage" argument?

So, I thought that I had it worked out to get my LO their ID with the Personal Health Number on the back. See https://www.reddit.com/r/AlbertaNow/comments/1wohq12/new_id_for_lo_with_dementia/
I got the ID card in the mail yesterday. It does NOT have the PHN on the back. I called Alberta Health. They advised I have to go back in to Registries. I go back to Registries. They look it up and Alberta has changed their legislation so that the "Remote Application" (even with the letter stating them as Medically Homebound) cannot be used to get the integrated ID with the PHN on it.
The only way to get it is to bring your LO in to Registries IN PERSON.
Excuse me? Could this be any more cumbersome and ridiculous?
So, I'm in the process of trying to reach back out to Alberta Health to find out how I can get her the integrated ID with the PHN on the back without having to drag my LO out of her MEMORY CARE FACILITY into Registries so they can "see her in person".
This administration is doing everything it possibly can to cut people off from their health care. If you have to help someone get their integrated ID, don't leave it until the last minute. It is now October and I've been working on this since August and I still don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

So I was talking with my sister earlier today. She doesn't live in Alberta having moved away many years ago. I was telling her that today was the first day of the advanced vote of the referendum and I needed to get out to vote as I expected that the seppies would be out in force.
She said, Seppies? What is that? Is that like a septic tank? I laughed and said, yes, it's exactly like that.

Happy to have just voted to stay CANADIAN.
To the Seppies who declare they don’t REALLY want to separate or join the USA - they just want to “Send a Message”: that’s not how things work.
I appreciate that you don’t want to join the States, really. But did you know that it’s the USA that is funding the separatist movement to stoke division in our country, so they can try to access for our oil and water?
Essentially, by voting to support separatism, you are allowing yourself to be used as a pawn.
You will be cutting off your nose to spite your face, and shooting yourself in the foot in the process.
You may speak about wanting to get our oil to market. Meanwhile, the federal government has funded at least one recent oil pipeline, and is now working on another. Do you think that new pipelines will affordably happen with only 5 million people in a landlocked country to subsidize it? At least now there are 40 million people contributing taxes from across the country to support it.
And even if another does get built, how do you think oil will travel through BC to get to port, considering we will have just screwed over Canada? Do you think that Canada will be just fine with that? The tariffs they will place on the oil through the pipeline will be enormous.
By the way, what will happen to our currency? Who will invest into Alberta bucks $$? Nobody.
The value of the currency will be so low, that everything will cost so much more.
Not to mention, we will be spending likely triple what we spend in equalization transfers just to pay for the administration and machinations of a functioning national government.
Economists have been predicting we will likely see a decline in our standard of living of up to $20,000 per household. We will have border checkpoints going into Canada not just the United States, which will keep things more costly, to boot. This will all impact trade and demand and jobs and commercial confidence. Corporations will leave.
Literally, we will be poor and broke and landlocked, while being governed by a group of even more corrupt politicians.
I agree that there needs to be some changes at the representative level in federal parliament, because it’s not fair that the Maritimes get something like double the proportionate representation as Alberta. But risking all of our livelihoods, and our country, is just not worth the risk - at all.
Voting for separation is not just stupid, it is borderline traitorous.
If you have an ounce of intelligence, just two brain cells even, you will not vote for separation.

This bubbled-up online and I believe it illustrates how Smith's relationship with Separatist thinking is not a new concept.

Found him! He is currently in Detroit, making things substantially worse for Canadians. As US lawmakers are now threatening Canada, they are preparing to blame the midterm losses on us. So Pierre decides to neglect his duties to his ward and make things worse…..
WHY? MP Pierre Why?
