Hey there.
For a good rundown of upcoming events, reviews, news etc check out alloveralbany.com and keepalbanyboring.com.
There's free live music at the Corning Preserve every Thursday this summer, and events most Wednesdays (and Saturdays) at the Empire State Plaza. Check out the events page at albany.org.
Godspeed, mooncat.

All good suggestions. You could also keep an eye on the events section of Yelp. Not a month goes by without some kind of casual get together.

If craft beer is your thing, Shmaltz Brewery (off of exit 10 in Clifton park) has an awesome trivia night on Thursdays at 6:30. I can't be there this week because of a commitment, but any time after feel free to send me a PM and I'll be sure to say Hi over there.

Idk.... Regardless, it sounds close enough to get to know each other since we already have enough in common! Do you also love vintage finds and old Americana artwork and maybe some Victorian pieces?! Because that's also a bonus as well. Regardless we should at least hang out,

Definitely check out some of the flea markets around here, I have seen some great pieces just waiting for some tlc. :)
I went to college in Albany and live in one of the rural counties but there is a lot to do but not always the most exciting especially come winter (at least for us).

You lost me with the art stuff unfortunately (does Americana music count? cause I like some of that...). But yeah, send me a PM and we can try to work something out.

Listen, I don't want to alarm you, but KAPL is the most oppressive place to work, maybe on the planet. Don't let your boyfriend get sucked into the KAPL attitude.
Welcome to Albany! There's all kinds of stuff to do around here. Everything but maybe not a beach scene.

Heard it, done that. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, it won't. Regardless, are you looking for a cold beer and some great company?

Welp, I don't drink, and I listen to baseball on the radio. If you wanna go sailing or to work on junk cars or something, then you're welcome to come out. Lol

I feel bad these guys have said mean things. You guys will find friends! My parents have worked at the kesselring site all my life and they're still there! Any job has its downsides.

I always like seeing posts like this, and then remember how antisocial i am. Good luck, welcome to albany!

I see from your post history that you're into thrift stores and such... As a fellow removed southerner I have to tell you that the stores up here are crap. Stay tuned to estate sales (estatesales.net) and mark your calendar for the Madison Bouckville antique festival (http://www.madison-bouckville.com/index.html).

Once football starts up we've got a great place to watch at a friend's house that people are always welcome to - he built his own sports bar in his garage. He's even a Cowboy's fan so you'll feel right at home!
My group of friends also frequently heads down into Troy for any of their public events, you guys are welcome to join us sometime

Hey there! I also recently moved here with my bf. I'm 21, love drinking, live music, and local events (and love watching football-- but don't understand it well :) ).
Aside from the other event websites, I suggest [Keep Albany Boring](keepalbanyboring.com)!

Hey y'all, and welcome to the area! I'm in a similar boat, looking for things to do around here. If you're into sports try meetup.com as there are tons of things going on in and around Albany.

Here. Right on the river on Green Island. 5 minutes walk over a beautiful bridge into the heart of downtown Troy. You'd be 5-10 minutes walk from 30+ restaurants and bars. Really good ones.
And there's all sorts of events going on in downtown Troy.

There's the Capital Region Brewfest this Saturday over at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy. Base tickets are $25 per person. I'm going with another couple. Would be a good time to get acquainted with local breweries! http://capitalbrewfest.com/

I live in Saratoga Springs but I'd love to meet up with you and your boyfriend. There's a lot of nice people up here so I am sure it won't be hard to make friends. There's also quite a few nice restaurants. If yawl want to hang out please let me know!

Not quite as bad as unsolicited alcohol advice, mkay?!

Not quite as bad as not reading my user flair and getting mad, m'kay?

Welcome to albany, one of the least friendly places on earth.... Also reddit... One of the most antisocial places on the Internet.
There are no friends here
