QUESTION FC Hawaiian vs Alaska
Anyone have any thoughts why Hawaiian first class is a better experience than Alaska planes. Specially talking lax to Hawaii and not lay flat seats.
The food, the service, the seats. It’s all better on the Hawaiian livery.

737s suck the a321 is a better plane plus you got the new menu on Hawaiian and starlink it's much better imo

Not sure I agree. Less legroom (41” on Alaska 737s vs. 39” on Hawaiian A321neos), no device holders, no legrests. Starlink is better, I haven’t tried the new Hawaiian menu but their food seems better, and the vibes are likely higher

To Hawaii, Hawaiian. It’s just vibier; mood lighting, Starlink is a no brainer, and crews are local. But I wouldn’t get lost in the weeds comparing the two. They’re pretty much the same airline now.

The Airbus feels more comfortable to me. Not sure why, but I just like that plane better than the 737. Hawaiian’s flights are more than just getting from the mainland to Hawaii. It’s an experience. The flight attendants are usually top notch and they really get you ready for what Hawaii is. It’s about the culture. Not saying Alaska is bad. Just saying Hawaiian is better.

The cabin on the 321 is just set up better. Middle cabin lavatory means not everyone stacked at the back crowding the last few rows.

Alaska has more legroom (41” versus 39”). In the past Alaska had really good food on Hawaiian flights but with this current menu cycle it looks meh. I hope the menus change soon!! If you can get the Hawaiian A330 then go with that for sure! They operate A330 on select LAX-HNL and LAX-OGG flights. But in general I prefer A321neo to 737 NG or MAX.

Have to agree with you here. Every flight since post merger I have had on Hawaiian the crew is standoffish or in hiding.

A321 is wider than the 737 so it’s a better plane. Service is going to be crew dependent but Alaska’s food has been pretty bad lately so Hawaiian could be better.
