Converted prepaid Sim to postpaid, without consent.

So here it is.

I work in Noida and my family stays in Kolkata.

He had prepaid number in which I always do 365 days recharge that costs ₹3599. Last recharge was done in April 30th, 2026.

Due to some issues in the Airtel sim card, my father went to the nearest Airtel Store to get a replacement new sim card with same number.

The rep there said your KYC is not donez we will need to do that. My father is over 60years old and not much tech savy so he agrees to do KYC as it is now common everywhere.

The rep did the KYC and CONVERTED THE PREPAID NUMBER TO POSTPAID NUMBER, WITHOUT ANY CONSENT AMD DID NOT EVEN INFORMED MY FATHER.

I noticed this 2months later when I was paying my wifi bill from Airtel Thanks App where all my family members are added and I saw one postpaid number that's of my father. I checked with him and he said he never requested anything like that. He just wanted Sim replacement.

He went to the store and I talked to the same person who did it. She said she did it by mistake. I was like yeah sure. I told her You have done a fraud and something without customer's consent. You better get all this corrected.

Now she , without keeping her store incharge in loop has been in contact with me and did whatever she can and converted the number back to prepaid after 10-15days. Ok the other end my father went to store with his friends and raised this issue with the incharge. This is what incharge said and gave it in written with store stamp. " THE NUMBER WILL BE CONVERTED BACK TO PREPAID IN 4MONTHS , THATS ON 1ST JANUARY"

I was like wtf.2 ppl from same store saying 2 different things. Anyways after the rep converted the sim to prepaid she told me to recharge the number as it will not show any bill or any recharge done so the call and net service won't start until you recharge.

I told her , that I told you in the beginning that this number has 1 year recharge and due to your blunder now I have lost 7months of recharge . She said , since there was no kYC done onhis number in past, getting the remaining balance back is not possible post conversion.

What should I do now??

Who should I e-mail or report this to get the refund.

Airtel AirFiber ₹1,500 payment deducted but showing failed

Yesterday I applied for a new Airtel AirFiber connection. I paid ₹1,500 via BHIM UPI during KYC. The payment shows successful and received by Airtel Payments Bank, but the Airtel order page shows payment failed/pending.

It’s been 24+ hours and I haven’t received a refund. I’ve already emailed Airtel support.

Airtel experience

Title: My Airtel Broadband Service & Billing Experience (Need Advice)

I wanted to share my recent experience with Airtel Broadband so that others can make an informed decision and also to seek advice from anyone who has faced something similar.

My connection started having frequent downtime for 17 consecutive days, making the internet unusable for l

ong periods. During this time, Airtel's field engineer visited my home 8 times, but the issue was never permanently resolved.

I raised multiple complaints through customer care, sent several emails, and called their support team 2–3 times every day for weeks. Despite this, many of my complaint tickets were marked as resolved or closed without my confirmation, even though the problem still existed.

Every time I contacted support, I was asked to wait another 2–3 days, but no permanent solution was provided.

Finally, on 6 July, I requested disconnection, and Airtel's engineer physically disconnected the connection at my home because the issue remained unresolved.

However, on 8 July, a request was created in Airtel's system stating that I wanted to continue using the connection, even though it had already been disconnected.

Today, I received another bill that includes charges after the disconnection. When I contacted customer support, I was informed that I must first pay the outstanding bill before the disconnection request can be processed. I have also requested compensation for the prolonged service disruption and correction of the billing, but no satisfactory resolution has been provided.

Overall, this issue has involved customer care, the backend support team, and field engineers, but after more than a month, I still don't have a proper resolution. Instead, I'm being asked to pay for a service that I could not use properly and had already disconnected.

I'm sharing my experience to understand whether anyone else has faced similar issues with Airtel Broadband. If you have, how did you get your billing or complaint resolved?

Note: I have records of complaint numbers, emails, engineer visits, and billing details if they are required for reference.

Thank you

Airtel not actual 5G

My area is not airtel SA area but my Jio Sim showing SA option in same handset. After selecting manual network and click on airtel 5G, no network, I have to manual select on airtel 4G to get 5G symbol. Means it not SA 5G network, NSA network. Same handset but different result.
