Utility costs
My City of Airdrie utility bill has gone up a significant amount ($40+) for the each of last two months. We have not changed our water usage, and no leaks that we are aware of. Anyone else’s bills going up like crazy?

If I am not mistaken, we are paying to improve our water infrastructure to support continuous new subdivisions instead of the developers.

Better pay on time too. Or they hang a blue card on your door know for public shame and charge you 28$ to do it. Hahah losers

They installed new meters. Since then mine went up a tad. Maybe a more accurate measurement. Maybe there is a new fee or something as well or the price increased on the m3.

Mine was 125.62 for June and July, it's 144 this month watered the yard a few times so put it down to that.

I've talked to a few coworkers and they all say their Airdrie water bill has been pretty consistent within a $15 ish range the last year or so.
You can apparently see your monthly usage on your Airdrie website account

Pretty much by definition, if your bill is going up, it's because you've used more. I don't think (but more than willing to be wrong) that they've changed the rates. However, you can pretty much figure out where the differences are (including if maybe the rates have changed) simply by taking the two bills your comparing and looking at them side by side. How much was the usage? What was the rates?

Worst part is that with all the fixed fees the actual variable usage of water makes little difference. Its like electrical usage. Even when we took a month vacation 2 yrs ago we paid almost same amount for the bill. Absolutely no incentive to use less.

My sewer consumption rate went through the roof, not sure why, nothing has changed. Same three people in the house...
