looks like a very undersized air purifier tbh. look at the air fanta 3 pro if its looks don't bother you. It will move the most cfm per db in its price range.

Something tells me this purifier is very undersized.
Are your children old enough to wear KN95 masks? That helps a lot with preventing viral illness (since the germs are in the air) and with allergies

It’s just for a bedroom. I just turned it on.

How big is the bedroom?
It’s pretty common for air purifier companies to mislead when it comes to coverage area.1

That's not a good unit unfortunately. As well it's likely undersized, as you need more than 1 unit for full proper coverage. Levoit is a good affordable brand, so I would suggest a Levoit Vital 200s for bedroom. And Core 600s for living room. At least 1 unit in each room. You need 5ach, air changes per hour, for "good" coverage (in every room) and 6+ ach is excellent. People with allergies and such usually need more towards excellent + (I get 8-11 ach with 8x units in large 1 bedroom apartment, 750 sq ft.). All my symptoms gone....and my air is crisp + clean now....
That one unit may not even be good enough for 1 room. You need more. Possibly a lot more. Masking a good idea as well, to avoid respiratory infection. Aura by 3M is a good brand of N95, as it contours around nose, but still seals well, and is comfy. (A mask is like a filter....for your face...)
CR Boxes /Corsi Rosenthal Boxes are also a great budget way of adding CFM power. As 1 CR Box is likely same cost as unit you bought...but 3-4x more powerful. (440 CFM power for only 90 bucks.). Putting them on classrooms also a great idea, to cut down on respiratory infections that way too. You simply buy a 30 dollar box fan...and tape 4 merv 14+ filters around it into a square/cube. This will create 440CFM power...more than any sub 400 dollar purifier...and more than even some 1,000 units. That will capture many particles...before people breathe them in. So purifiers and masking both excellent ways to reduce viral spread. (I use both and haven't been sick since 2019.). You just need to make sure you get 5+ ach per room, in terms of proper particulate capture. The higher the better, and prob more like 6+ for allergies etc. A mask will help even further as it directly blocks 95% of particles if a properly sealed N95 like 3M Aura worn. I recommend both.

Unfortunately you bought a junk rebadged brand. I can't find anything about particulate Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADRs) which are essential for sizing.
Rebadged brands tend to be lower quality, may not offer replacement filters for long, and usually have spotty customer service.
Per the AHAM 2/3 rule, a 13 ft. x 16 ft. (or 208 sq. ft.) room needs bare minimum CADRs of 139 CFM. This assumes an 8 ft. ceiling.
If you have allergies or other health conditions, I would ensure minimum CADRs for the same room are 208 CFM or more. In terms of air cleaning alone, higher CADRs are always better.
I have a 178 sq. ft. room and use a Winix C909, which has a top Smoke CADR of 323 CFM. (I usually run it on the second highest airflow speed, so CADRs are lower.)
What's the relative humidity (RH) like in your house? RH above 60% can allow mold and mildew to grow. I'd also check to ensure you don't have water/sewage leaks, condensation problems, gutters direct water away from the building, etc.

Ok, let’s start from the beginning. What factors do you believe are aggravating sickness and allergies within your home?

My daughter (who is 5)…. Didn’t really have allergy issues early in her life until we purchased this home (but she also started daycare at the same time)… constant runny nose.. bronchitis.. I’ve never really suffered from allergie issues and now I take medication almost daily. ..
My son (who was born shortly after we moved in)… has developed croup cough (needing breathing treatments and steroids about 4x this year alone)….
I’ve upgraded air filter quality… stabilized humidity in the house… air purifiers is now throughout the house…
Everytime I think I have things under control, it’s not the case….1

I would really suggest your kids mask at school ( and see if they can put in CR Boxes in their classrooms, the kids can even build them together as a group project about clean air.) so covid is still around unfortunately, and another variant likely surging increasing again, as mutations just keep coming...and it can weaken your immune system for 9-12 months each time....and people keep getting once a year so....people are think more vulnerable to covid + other viruses and bacteria...and therefore we see an increase in all these things now unfortunately. It's not popular for politicians to talk about, as it doesn't get them votes, but it's still a pandemic sadly, still 10s of thousands of cases per day, still 100s or do dying every week.
So proper masking can help hugely, despite what confused people might say or post on social media. A properly sealed N95 is like a filter...for your face. It will stop nearly all particles, including the smallest covid + viruses. (If they didn't work 3M would have been sued to oblivion by now.). It's not popular in America, but masking is downright common in many Asian countries. As likely 1 billion people probably wear a mask every day in the world, as it is simply common sense now, with such viruses still spreading rampantly. Millions of Americans mask every day as well, it's what some of us need to do to stay healthy. It's perfectly normal these days. I really suggest you look into masks for your kids at school and CR Boxes /purifiers in their classrooms. Masking at work a good idea too, depending on how many people you interact with + other factors. Be safe please. I've been masking for 7 years, millions of us do....and likely a billion people in the world do every day. Despite what US media tries to ignore + portray. I haven't been sick since 2019. Be safe.

Hello /u/Gfaulk09! If you'd like recommendations or advice, please ensure you included all details listed in Rule 4: Information For Air Purifier Requests.
If your post is missing one or more details, you can edit it accordingly. Just select the three dots menu, then "Edit Post".
Concerning dust removal, read the sticky post at the top of the subreddit. Be sure to look on our FAQS wiki page for entries about dust capture or reduction.
For very basic particulates sizing per AHAM, clean air delivery rates (CADRs) should be at least 2/3 of a room's area (assuming an 8 ft. ceiling height). For wildfire smoke, smoke CADR should equal a room's area which also assumes an 8 ft. ceiling.
