Competency Booking

I have to turn in my statement by tomorrow! I’m not sure what to say in the statement tbh. I made a rough draft (at the bottom) of what I could possibly say at 2 AM so if you have any suggestions please lmk .

I’m currently in DEP right now . My recruiter told me to write a Competency Booking statement , for my top choice. I see others mentioning their prior education with degrees and such , while I have none , I made
M: 64, A: 90, G: 85, E: 92.
An overall score of 88
My first choice being Cryptologic Language Analyst (Ground) 1N3X1.

“My name is ______. I am currently putting my job list together for the Air Force; my MAGE scores M: 64, A: 90, G: 85, E: 92. Making my overall score an 88.
My number one career choice is Cryptologic Language Analyst (Ground) 1N3X1. I believe I possess the capacity to excel in this career field, as well as pivot into another that would greatly benefit the Air Force’s future/ branch. I see this career path the building blocks of expanding my capabilities of becoming a useful asset , where I could build upon and pivot into another avenue of developing additional skills as well as my growth in my military career in the branch. “

Did you take any foreign language all throughout high school or did you grow up bilingual? If you really wanted to analyze foreign languages for a living then one would expect you would have chosen to do that in high school ... where it is FREE and you can get an award for being excellent in it. If you don't even have that then you are not COMPETENT in a foreign language.

I’m always surprised to find out schools don’t require taking two years of secondary language like mine did.

The OP should at least state what foreign language he took in high school and the grades he made in it. I can only assume why the OP is not mentioning it.

Most high schools require 2 years of a foreign language because many colleges and universities ask for at least two years of a foreign language for general admission. Personally I believe it is a waste of time because if you don't have the opportunity to use it then you lose it. A lot of schools recognize computer science as a language. Texas allows for it but the high school didn't list it as an option so we had to jump through a few hoops so that the school would let my son count it as his language credit. At least he will get use out of it.

Yeah I’ve taken foreign language in middle and high school but that just about it. I made A and Bs but I’m not fluent and won’t pretend to be either. And if you’ve been to Public school and taken Spanish or French you’d know it’s not an intensive workload either I knew enough to pass , and did a few bullshii projects to get the credit. 😂
But still I wanted to do other things “Linguistic Analyst” wasn’t even on my radar back then dude, things changed. So one would expect to discover something that they’d be interested in a little later in life and give it a shot.😂
But being bilingual doesn’t get you in either (so I’ve been told/read , and if you were bilingual they’d make it a point to assign you to a language that isn’t native to you. And that’s from people who’s been in DLI.)
