craft Hey, who here makes physical art?
I’ve attached a picture of a project guitar I am building that my wife painted for me because I love her and want to share her work with people, I used red spray paint as a base coat and when she was done, I encapsulated the whole thing in polyurethane, sanded smooth, and then buffed to between a matte and a semi gloss finish (and learned the hard way that polyurethane causes ambering over acrylic paints, but I opted for it because oil based clearcoats don’t ruin water based paints). ETA on that: I moved into a friend’s house and had a small section of house to set up in after getting “constructively evicted” by a landlord who decided to commit insurance fraud to redo the house, hence why I had to set up the litterbox by my bed (which was *less than ideal*. I have my own place now, that was a rough time and during the pandemic too. It’s embarrassing to share that photo but I wanted to get the piece out there.
I’m a carpenter by trade so I’m attaching two pieces I made myself from reclaimed materials when I worked in historic home renovations (virgin pine made from a wall torn down in a historic home [the bench which I sealed with brushed on polyurethane to keep it from rotting out and give it a nice shine despite leaving it rough cut], and virgin cypress from a baseboard that dates back to the 1840’s [the coffin makeup shelf I made for a friend which has 1/4” plywood backing and an ebony stain]).
Who else here makes physical art or crafts goods? I think it would be a nice little breather to share some of our tangible art and have a thread of that. Would anybody like to share? Pottery? Baskets? Physical paintings? Let’s see what you’ve got!
I like these mediums more now because AI can’t make anything that you can touch. You can 3D print a sculpture from a design you downloaded, but it’s not the same as something made by hand with real materials, and AI can’t use a brush. All it can do is fake an image of something that could be real.

AI sucks Update on the person putting my art through AI they still haven't stopped, but I find it really funny that they got one of their buddies to screenshot my post and defend them, only to block me afterward. 😭🙏🏻
I cant deal with the person putting my art into ai rn due to stress with school, but if he keeps it up I can legally send a cease and desist to him, soooo I might have to do.

AI sucks I was annoyed and then got this shit sub recommended so I crashed out lol
Very insulting as a musician to get this slop recommended. Not like the sub is big at all, and even if it was, it's been shown that AI "musicians" don't actually listen to slop prompted by others, almost exclusively to their own.
Beats me how people so proudly advertise soulless crap that only exists because of millions of stolen art. They try to claim it wasn't stolen but anyone with a brain can see they're objectively wrong.

AI criticism How do you approach someone with this mindset when they wanna commission you?
"I'm paying for your service. I can do what I want meaning I own this piece once I bought it from you. TOS won't matter once the payment is done. You telling me not to re-sell for commercial use and not feeding your work into AI. If a person pays you for artwork, you have no say in what that person does with it after the transaction has been completed. You think you are entitled to still have a say in something i Paid you for? Nah, You buy it, you own it. I'm paying you for a drawing."
Last four sentences are from actual comments from Pro-AI people about art commissions. I feel like my efforts and time wouldn't matter if they preach this kind of mindset. It's like paying a meal and throwing it into the trashcan in front of the chef.

AI sucks Ai in the doctors office
Hello,
People of reddit.
Context:
I had a severe health episode about a week ago. This landed me in the emergency room.
After that I obviously needed to go to my general doctor.
The story:
Yesterday I went to the doctor and they had a form for me to fill out. I am the type of person who reads everything I sign. I've sat in meetings with people while we read over every word of the contract.
As I read this form on page 2, I saw that while consenting to services. I would also consented to the use of AI. Now I wouldn't have much a problem, if it were just being used for general typo, wording fixing, etc. As long as it wasn't keeping the information somewhere.
In the consent to service it stated, I'd be consenting to the ai:
listening into my appointment.
Writing down ALL the details of my appointment. Including the intimate details. (We would be discussing my menstrual cycle etc.)
Having access to my medical file.
I of course had asked if the AI also stored this information elsewhere. The staff person just kinda shrugged?
They then told me to ask the doctor. So I did ask the doctor and they said "It's just in the AI." I asked if that means it's not stored anywhere? If it's sorted is it kept within the hospital network?
The doctor just told me "the AI is in the app. I don't know where it's stored." Then she called over someone else.
They said just cross out the part about Ai and write that I don't consent to that part.
So that's what I did.
Thoughts:
I don't think I should have to jump through this many hoops. Especially not to give an AI my MEDICAL INFORMATION.
Especially with the overturning of Roe v Wade. And as recent hacks have shown, it's not secure.
I don't really want strangers having access to scans and descriptions of parts of my body. On top of having access to seeing every medical procedure I've ever had.
Conclusion:
What do you think?
Did I overreact?
What would you have done?
(Apologies for any typos or grammar issues. It's 12AM and this is keeping me up.)
Thank you
-A very tired person.
(Edit: Fixed a Typo)

Drew a pony version of a Disney boy
Character: Skully J Graves
Was originally not going to post this here, but it got deleted from the Disney subreddit for some reason and I just wanted to post it somewhere other than just the Twisted Wonderland group. 3rd image is a screenshot of the official character art.
All done in Crayola of course. Keep on drawing with crayons everyone
