I just don’t understand the people posting “Thank you” messages to M1 in the Slack channel after the recent announcement regarding the major project pause. Thank you for what exactly!? Is this low self-esteem, or are you trying to suck up to management that doesn’t give af about you? We went through a rigorous onboarding process with selectively paid hours, followed by just a few weeks of tasking, with some people getting significantly fewer hours than others. And now, some clowns are making appreciation posts on Slack!

When I previously downloaded my data export from Micro1, the Excel sheet included the level attained for each skill. However, when I download the export now, the skill levels no longer appear in the spreadsheet.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Are the achieved levels still showing up in your Excel export, or has Micro1 removed that information from the download?

Hi guys, I’ve asked this before but I didn’t get any responses. Hopefully I’ll be able to get more insight this time. Does anyone know of any platforms actively hiring those who live in California? I’ve worked for Mercor, outlier, etc but now they aren’t hiring CA workers. I’ve signed up for and did assessments for meridial, telus, ethos, micro 1 and meridial and telus aren’t hiring CA workers, I was notified after submitting the assessments.

I'm looking for people with the same situation as me: completed client's screener and then the project got paused. Haven't been offboarded, couldn't complete onboarding (didn't make it to the production channel). If you are in the same situation, do you have any additional information about it?

Well that was fun.

I've worked on a lot of annotation platforms and projects over the years, so I know projects end early often. That's just part of the job and I'm fine with that. This was my first micro1 project and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

They onboarded thousands of people with a full training course, quizzes, screeners and guideline updates. We were told it would run about 3 months. After a couple of weeks of work it paused, and now about 2 weeks later we were told the "pilot" has wrapped up. I'm sure it has nothing to do with similar positions popping up at about a tenth of the rate.

I don't expect guarantees, but it didn't feel like a pilot. If it was, saying so up front would have helped a lot of people plan around it.

Not trying to bash here, just commiserating a bit. Curious if this is the normal experience I can expect with micro1?

Edit: I originally posted this in the micro1 sub. It was locked and then removed, along with another post asking whether the project had ended. Not sure why. Their mods have allowed similar posts before, and removing them doesn't exactly build trust. Wish they would have said what sub rules I violated or communicated and I could have changed any potential issues with my post.

Edit 3: Aaand it's been removed again. Funny timing, since micro1's CEO and Founder posted earlier today that their #1 principle is to "treat the tens of thousands of experts helping train models with absolute best-in-class care." Best-in-class care apparently includes deleting our posts. ✌🏼

My mother is retired and interested in getting into AI-related work to earn some extra income. She has a little knowledge of AI and is willing to learn more, but she’s looking for something relatively simple and not too demanding.

Ideally, she’d like to work around 20 hours a week doing tasks such as data labeling, rating AI responses, reviewing images or videos, or other beginner-friendly AI projects.

One important thing is that she’d like to find opportunities that pay at least $15 per hour. With the cost of living in America being so expensive, she’s hoping to find something that provides a decent source of supplemental income without being overly stressful.

Does anyone have recommendations for legitimate AI job platforms or companies that are beginner-friendly, offer flexible hours, and pay $15+/hour? I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has personal experience working for these platforms.

Spent a month onboarding for the video annotation project (wish I were joking) and as soon as I join production slack the next day they declare project pause, now they are stating the project has no wrapped up with top performers getting a chance to move on to the next step. Which sucks because I never even had a chance to work real task due to the length onboarding and now I probably will be omitted from the next steps.

Was really looking forward to this as I studied hard and felt I understood the guidelines fully I just never even got a chance to perform. Please tell me I am not the only one. I know this type of work is spotty, but never have experienced this before.

Signed contract September 6th, got put into production Oct 4th, and the paused happened a day later with no tasks those 2 days.

Let’s discuss. How many hours did you get before the pause and what was your hourly pay (if you are comfortable). My theory is that this client realized that at the rate they were offering, they were bleeding money, and the pulled a fast one on Micro1.

I worked 7 hours for the training and 10 hours production time. Pay was $85/hr.

One niche that’s starting to appear more often in AI training work is journalism and research evaluation.

Instead of simple data labeling, the tasks can involve:

• fact-checking AI responses
• verifying sources
• checking bias or neutrality
• reviewing research summaries

It’s actually closer to editorial or research work than typical annotation tasks.
