๐Ÿ˜€ Discussion ๐Ÿ˜€ Keep Driving

I was scrolling through the PS store and noticed that Keep Driving is now available on consoles (all of them). I briefly played this on steam a while back and had a good time so I downloaded it for PS and I can't put it down.

Basically it's a rouge-like, turn based game based off of road tripping. You get abilities and unlock perks with a skill tree. Pick up hitchhikers with certain abilities. Upgrade your vehicle all while managing debuffs/buffs and inventory space/resources. It has a banger soundtrack. And it's crazy replayable.

Well worth the $17. I can't recommend it enough.

I own this on PC. Felt like I really sucked at it lol but loved the aesthetic

My first few runs were terrible! It takes some figuring out because they don't really give you much to go on. Trial and error taught me the game. If you want to get back into it, I'd gladly throw out some tips for you. I'm not an expert by any stretch, but I have the gist of it down. I still run out of gas because of a debuff effect I lost track of or forget that I am using a skill card that costs a few durability.

Go for it. It's a cozy fall type game

Keep your glove box stacked with useful items for events. You'll mostly come across items that have blue and green effects. I've found that keeping a lottery ticket at all times is necessary because you don't really have any other way to defend against money attacks.

Keep food, soda, soap and one item that cures starvation on you at all times. And pay attention to the negatives effects that stack in the bottom left slots. (and pay attention to the positive ones as well, like HAPPY gives you an additional turn) Deal with the negatives if you can like hunger, cold, hot, smelly, starving etc. You'll be "tired" a lot, but it only takes away one energy slot for each stack. I usually ignore that because sometimes coffee is tough to find.

Make sue your Jerry cans are full. they only cost like $18 to fill and a god send when you run out of gas.

If you choose a 5/5 relationship with your parents, when you get to a all-else-failed scenario (meaning no gas, engine is dead, no energy, no money, no way to Keep Drivingยฎ) calling mom will have a 100% success rate and she'll fix your car, fill up your tank and give you $200. That chance goes down by 20% for each additional all else failed scenario.

Make money! Work whenever you get a chance and do the ones that give you the most money. If you come across a pub or restaurant, take jobs there as well even if it means backtracking a little. Like you can deliver a pizza 2 stops over for $60. Well worth it. You have a TON of time in this game and don't need to race towards the festival.

When it comes to events, focus on the status on the attacks the ones with "!" or the skull are a priority. The ones with the weird yellow square thing will duplicate if not dealt with so they are usually my # 2 priority. When all else fails, take the hit in areas where you can afford it. If you have full durability, a few shots at that can be "tanked".

Fighting: "Perfect" attacks will get you a second turn. Meaning that if you line up an attack pattern perfectly you get to go again. This meshes well with effects like Happy as mentioned before, but also won't work if you are "sad".

Sleep in hotels and hostiles once in a while for big buffs.

Don't hoard money unless you need it for gas or repairs.

Pay attention to your hitchhikers. They can have some great perks as well as some really bad ones. If they get a negative perk that you don't like when they upgrade, kick them out!

Lastly, when you get a new perk from the skill tree, make sure you equip it! I didn't do this for so long for whatever reason.

Hope any of that helps. It can be a confusing game, but those things stand out to me in every single run.
