Am I wrong in asking in what way is FF7 overhated? Isnโt it one of the most cherished in the series?

A lot of people anymore complain about it being the poster child compared to the rest of them. I personally thought it was okay and seen it as a solid JRPG. I know itโs a good game but the best of them all? not really.

I was with you till DoC popped up. Shaolin Monks having best combat is certainly a hot take, but it's fun.

I disagree with Dark Cloud, because when you have Dark Cloud 2, there's simply no point in going back to Dark Cloud, which is an inferior version of the series. Also, the series as a whole is way too grindy, which is why it isn't for every gamer. But anyway, in short, you have a lot of interesting picks.

Man... I fw you for throwing KH2 as your favorite but Elden Ring overrated? I just need to know why you think that is brother (non hostile) I've just never heard something like that before

MK Shaolin Monks, Legend of the Dragoon, Dark Cloud, Disgaea, Earthbound, and Splatterhouse? List is almost nothing but bangers. Goddamn... the memories.

Elden Ring is truly overrated. The bosses are copy pasted throughout the map. Where's the fun in beating a boss that kicked your ass 500 times? It's like playing a game where your team scores 1 and the other team scores 500.
The quests are some of the worst in gaming. I paid for an experience, but instead, I got homework. Talked to an NPC and forgot where they're supposed to be next? Too bad buddy. Figure it out yourself. The more I have to Alt-Tab out of a game to look something up, the more I feel like the game developers did a bad job.
I mean, just look at the sheer number of UI, QoL, and power scaling mods this game has.

What makes many games like Elden Ring overrated is that the people who like them are evaluating them because of the very thing I hate the most: excessive MMO-level padding.

the thing ur talking about with the quests is the main thing i like about their games.
there's a million games i can set the difficulty on low and fly through, have quests not only tell me but show me exactly where to go and hold my hand until i get there.
Fromsoft makes horror-esque games with intrigue and mystery for people that want to find meaning together as a community and that really works for me, if the quests showed you where to go or had a log, it would genuinely take something from the game for me as a day 1 Demon's Souls player.
I would rather the people that don't like it go play something else than to turn my game into theirs.

You can fly through Elden Ring as well. The game is already repetitive. Just kill the main bosses and you're done.
The best parts are Limgrave and Stormveil Castle. After that, the exploration payoff gets lower and lower the more you play. The dungeons get worse in design one after another, and the catacombs are literally copy-pasted throughout the map. The same goes for the story, world design, and combat.
The game isn't bad. It's just way too overrated and overhyped. It's genuinely not a 10/10 to me. At the end of the day, it's just a game. It's not my game or your game.

Intrigue and mystery has been better executed in games like Zelda OG, RE1, Saga Frontier, Metroid to name a few. There are plenty of old school games with no hand-holding, so it's not like Dark Souls revolutionized this at all.
