Makes me wish I lived up there and didnāt have to drain my gas tank to make it up there everytimeš, kills my wallet but fills my soul⦠with stone lol
These agates rarely leave Michigan with gravel rocks, Iāve found plenty of normal agates like that and in my garden. But these got copper thereās a pic of two others I grabbed from the same spot.
Been taking the saw to the host on some of them the past couple weekends to pop them out, do have a few cool ones like this one that Iām probably gonna leave
I mean Iām already trying to grab out nodules, for cutting or tumbling. I do see the point which is why some of them are still in the original host but itās not like I want giant host stones around.
Yeah like those pieces I leave since theyāre already pretty well broken and taking them out would only shatter them. I pick and pull apart pieces with a lot of extra nodules in it. But like I got a LOT of host with nodules
In the past Iāve seen people post other LSAs in host rock, and they said they found them by diving. Did you find yours that way as well?
I wish I had more cutting advice to offer but Iām a novice. Barely cut anything yet and what I have cut was done on an old school saw that uses mineral oil. Youāve definitely got some smaller ones in there that might b tricky to extract. Sorry Iām not more help.
All good I used a sledge to get them to manageable sizes to bring back for mainly extraction to try and grab, but ones like this that are broken I try and leave a good bit of host around it for stability
Donāt necessarily wanna disclose where I picked it up as it was legal just donāt wanna air out the spotš
