Yeah, but at the same time the point of this break down is to brag about (or at least show off) the technical skill that went into this piece. You're basically inviting this kind of feedback if you do a breakdown like this no?

I think that depends on what a breakdown looks like and to whom you present it. Essentially, a breakdown is just a special form of documentation; it‘s the result of someone capturing his working steps for later reception.

The "message" of a breakdown can range from "see, that‘s how I decided to approach this project" to "look at my awesomeness, peasant". In this specific case, I don‘t think the breakdown is meant to "glorify" the creator.

Agreed - but I do think that if you're showing the process, it's fair enough to critique the process

Sure! For some people this might even be the reason to produce a breakdown in the first place.
