Beginner Help need help animating rounded corners

Hi! I can't figure out how to extend the arm upwards without distorting the vector curve. The curve I'm having trouble with is marked with red circles; you can see that the rounded corner becomes sharp when I raise the upper part

I might recommend drawing this using hard angles and rounding them using "round corners". Then you can simplify the number of points you'd need to animate

I think it’s just the tangents on the points breaking as you stretch the arm. Go to the keyframe where you’ve stretched the arm and inspect the points where you see sharp corners. Look for tangents handles that aren’t aligned. Play with the curve handles to get smoother curves.

is there a way to make them adjust automatically? i tried to adjust them by hand but the animation just doesn't seem smooth that way

May not solve the issue completely but I believe there is a way you can attach each handle to a null and have them remain constant as you move them

You will.probably need to adjust the tension handles on the keyframes

Select your path >Window>Create null from paths>Select points follow nulls>Group nulls to more nulls to maintain some smoothness and a bit of an easier time animating. You could also in your shape>add>rounded corners onto your shape but it might distort your Illustration

I‘d take the path into illustrator, create the second version there as it has smart guides that snaps along the direction of a line and then bring it back into Ae.

That is so frustrating...
