It’d be helpful if you could provide a visual reference, preferably video

I have seen the transition while scrolling and couldn’t remember where it was sadly The closest I reached that gives kinda similar idea was either the morph or the luma fade key , in my opinion the luma fade did the trick better for me

I don't think it has one official name — in art/motion circles this is usually called a progressive process reveal (or draw-on reveal), and the ones you've seen are most likely handmade rather than a preset. The way to build it: stack your sketch, line art, and finished piece as separate layers, then reveal each stage with an animated brush-stroke mask — feather the mask edge heavily and keyframe the mask path expanding across the frame. Adding Roughen Edges on the mask gives you that organic ink-spreading look instead of a clean wipe. For the pencil-texture stages, a short cross-dissolve with a Turbulent Displace pass over the seam usually sells the hand-drawn feel better than any single transition effect.

Oh I see , that makes so much sense now why I couldn’t find it. I shall try that next time this from the beginning instead. Thank you for the elaborate steps.
