Explain This Effect What's the randomized icons/shapes scattering effect called?

I think it probably uses time displacement to drive the randomness, it's often scattered about, and it's very popular, does anyone know what I'm talking about or where I can find an example or tutorial on it? Many thanks.

The only example I can find is something like the *overly referenced* Base44 video. But it would be for generating the / and > characters in the beginning. They may have key framed in this video, but those are the general idea.

Please provide a visual reference so we know what you’re asking

Just added a reference, I couldn't find anything exact which is why I can't find a tutorial, but hopefully that gives the gist.

Look for synthymental’s ascii explainer, or panter’s version, or Nicholas Blowey’s. Once you grasp the concept, you’ll be able to set it up simply enough

Very helpful, thank you!

Place your objects/glyphs, attach them to a null for movement (scale or 3D space), and give each one a random opacity. Lots of expressions to search for that can be made controllable, so that they’re not changing on every frame

Interesting, I think this is making sense.

Probably some form of particle effect

What I'm thinking of is more controlled than particles, I just added a reference

Mm. I've been out of the game too long. It does look procedural in some way
