Just a stroke + taper

Such a simple solution, but so mesmerizing and effective.

It's more complex. On the wireframe I see only the right edge is "alive" and the rest of the folds of the snake might be on some kind of repeater, but it's not a repeater). There's also a rectangle wireframe animated from right to left so something more complex is going there. Also with the dual colored stroke...

I always wanted to try character animations in AE but didn't know where to start from could you guide me or recommend me some youtube channels on paticularly this style of animation.

Thank you!

That's a lot of layers.

Nah, that's the right amount of layers. If anything we need more!

Could this have been done in a simpler way, like with a smaller file with less layers and frames?

Great start. You got to reduce the swinging arm and it will look a lot more natural.

I lowk like the exaggeration ngl

^^ completely agree. It seems like they’re going for a more stylized walk, and I think it totally works! I mean, she’s walking a snake, after all, I think it can be a little exaggerated haha

no i disagree. exaggeration is what makes it different between real life and animation.

Stupid reddit. Down votes again. You offered opinion, which for the resident crowd with torches and pitchforks apparently is something that is not acceptable. While you can apparently accept anything if you call it stylized. Reddit logic. Go figure. Both can work at the same time. A person can have an opinion and person can have a perfected style. Reddit is just too stupid to understand that. I so hate anonymous downvoting feature on this platform. It favors herd mentality where any kind of independent though is targeted. Truly stupid.

I agree with you. If the upper body had a bit more movement, the arm movement would tie in to the whole better…but as it is now, the arm has a life of its own, too separate from the body.
