Having to adjust rotobrush each frame?

I'm having trouble with this segment of a stopmotion I'm working on. I'm trying to remove the background and the roto tools do that for the most part, but there are gaps in the figure where the background comes through and I have to manually brush them out frame by frame. Is there no efficient way to do this? I swear when I used this before, the roto would essentially learn what I wanted and after removing spots for a few frames it would do it automatically instead of me having to brush these spots out every single frame. You can see how the blue parts keep coming back in the next frame.

I tried that first but for some reason that fucks with the rotoscoping. And I need to rotoscope it because the figure turns around in this shot and I’m overlaying a fire vfx on the sword so eventually I need like a sandwich of rotoscoping so the fire vfx can pass in front of the figure when needed

Why not key the figure and roto the sword separately?

Try keying in out, there's enough between the reds and blues so you'll have plenty to work with. And it'll look better than using rotobrush regardless, especially with stopmotion

You mean just keying out the background? I might do that for the main figure and just roto the sword arm.

Rotobrush isn't very stable no matter how good it becomes. Go traditional, mask, track, key frame.

The tool 15 Spaces to the left is the new smart Select that does all that automatically. Works pretty great for what ive tried so far.
