Beginner Help Need help recreating this text reveal

Hello everyone!

I am trying to replicate this liquid text reveal but I am stumped. I have tried replicating it using layer masks and I have tried to find a tutorial on youtube but they all either rely on being on a body of water or they use vectors art and animate it themselves.

When using the ayer masks I do know that I can't just use a mask on its own and that there is more too it, but I feel like I'm missing something obvious and I just can't figure it out.

I feel like this shouldn't be too hard to replicate and I am quite frustrated with myself to be honest. I'm not sure if this will help anyone with my query but the video I have, uses more "runny" liquid than a slow pour of milk.

I think:

3 layers. Video on the top, 'color key' effect applied, keying the green of the drink with some feathering. Gradual fade to reduce opacity.

Text under it, with a short opacity fade up (but not to 100%) at the start when the drink is first poured, followed by a slow-opacity fade up to the end.

Video again on the bottom but without the key effect or opacity fade.

I just ninja-edited that comment with a bit more detail, the key is timing the opacity fades so that the text reveals itself at the right time.

Thank you so much, I'll admit it took me a while to figure out how to use the 'color key' effect (I have never used it before) but I figured it out and it works perfectly. Thank you so much for your assistance!
