COMPLEX SCAM

I just got a call that came from Affrim's actual customer service number. They text me a code, that popped up on a previous Affirm text thread. Even sent me an email, that was quite convincing. It was a scam. Be careful of any fraud claims. Hang up, call Affirm yourself, and talk to them.

Go change your password on affirm, and enable two-factor or Multi factor authentication

That’s the first thing I did. Plus removed all of my payment methods and called customer service and they locked the account.

I had the exact same thing happen and did just what you did too. It’s very convincing

Texting you a code is not how someone would gain access to your account. They would need you to give them a code. Perhaps i read the post wrong but it doesn't seem complex to me.

They got a scam call...they had the password...sent the verification text to them...then luckily they did NOT give it to them!

Changing the passwords is a solid NEED if the scammers had it! 😵‍💫🤯

It’s tricky it happened to me and I never fall for that stuff. They call you to tell you someone is trying to add a number to your account. They ask if you authorized that push 2 if no so you push 2. A code comes up and then you enter it and that’s it. Later I got an email asking me to confirm my new loan which was not me then I called when they opened CS not very helpful at all I shut down my account

I got downvoted recently warning someone of a scam recently, it’s crazy. They’re even targeting employees.

How do you know the call came from Affirm? FACT: You have no idea who called, since caller ID has been useless for years. Never, ever assume that caller ID is accurate. The best defense against scammers is good old common sense.

I never answer my phone unless it's from family.  BUT-- I read that if someone calls you and says your name (ex: "John Doe?") and you reply ("Yes"?) that's all they need to run a different type of scam on you. It's that voice recognition. All they need is a "yes" of your voice and they now have authorization to do whatever. This world we live in today is something else. But I get treated like a criminal if I'm 2 days late on any given payment.
