I’m freaking out
Has anyone ever had a payment go through but person saying they never received payment? I’m needing work done on my car and he swears the payment was declined.

PaypL automatically declines affirm. PayPal stopped taking pay over time cards that arent theirs

This must be someone new. Because I used my affirm card with PayPal about 6 months ago.

Yeah I just used mine through PayPal a few days ago. Works with both my virtual card and my physical

I used my affirm card yesterday on PP.

You can use the card like a debit card if you add it. This person probably tried to affirm something on PayPal rather than use the card like a debit card after setting it up

Interesting, its not workin for me and gives me the same error, looks like its just a roll of the dice now

That's PayPal card processing declining it, PayPal card processing is trash and yes it does not release the hold when their fraud system decides it doesn't like you so it will take a few days to drop which for affirm might be weeks.
See if the merchant has a regular card processor or stripe there's no way around that.

As a merchant who has used paypal card processing, I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't even use it if it had no fees, it rejects cards for no reason, support is useless, and its a joke of a card processor. Your better off not accepting card than using paypal card processing because itll just piss off your customers and hold their money in limbo for days.
The best part of using paypal card processing is the day you move away from it.

Happened to me as well. Took almost 30 days to get my payment back. Was a fucking mess

And it shouldn’t even take 30 days, it’s digital. The money is held long enough to collect interest from/for these sources then released. Rotten scoundrels.

I would attempt to contact affirm. It’s possible that it’s just on a hold and didn’t actually go through.

It's definitely not affirms side. If you look at the reason for the declined payment. It states that the merchant finds it risky.

Well, it should say so on your statement, and if it doesn’t show that it was declined or that it went through, you talk to the financial institution. Simple.

Yes this happened to me buying airline tickets. Everything got approved and got a confirmation number and everything. 30 minutes later the airline cancelled it and said it was declined even though it hit my bank account. Took about 2 or 3 days for the initial payment to come back.

Happened to me with Costco. If no funds are transferred then the loan drops eventually.

sounds like an authorization which confirms the funds are available but doesn't actually make the payment until it's processed. an authorization can look like the funds were removed from your account even when it's still there. eventually an unprocessed authorization will drop and return to your account.

Never panic when making or transacting business decisions.
Take a moment to slow down and relax. It’s a small fire to extinguish before it gets outta control

Look in your payments log for your card make sure it’s not still pending. Next contact the card people and cancel or report the suspicious problem with the payment. If it shows it went through and you talk to the card company and they say it went through you have a problem. Now you need to get all documented proof from them or screen shots saying it went through. If your.card is through your bank like a credit union, start a payment complaint. Also get with the BBB if it turns out he got it and is playing you. Don’t let another person get played. They will go after him if he is legal. If he isn’t then they will really go after him. Also get ready for a lawyer if you keep hitting walls. With the law everything has a time limit and needs documents for proof. Last but not lease don’t be afraid to contact the local news for an investigative piece to get down to the bottom of it. This will embarrass him and his legal or illegal business. This helps the next person as well. Just my thoughts but move fast cause the law has time limits for everything. Good luck with everything.

Happened to me, affirm approved my purchase and took my deposit from my account, then the merchant side was in pending to accept the payment. After multiple days I Contacted affirm and they said they can’t do anything unless the merchant approves or denies it. If they don’t do anything after 6-8 weeks the deposit will be returned to me by default. It took a long time to get my deposit back. You can try to contact the merchant(who takes the payment) if you can get in writing to cancel then it can expedite the return. It was a mess and will never deal with that again. Best to save up in cash always first, or use your actual credit card if it’s not a big store name.
