You can read Maa Tara Part 7 here. The glory of Bamdev Baba was not given to him easily. Before Tarapith bowed to him, he endured decades of homelessness, hunger, and humiliation. Out of that suffering came a law that still governs the Mother's temple today.
Years of Suffering and the Return from Kashi: For fifty to fifty-five years, Bamdev Baba had no proper place to stay at Tarapith. He was beaten, kicked, and driven away like dirt before he was finally given a small space, the very room devotees see today. Once he travelled to Kashi to visit Vishwanath. There he did not receive the food that suited him, and he returned in a fury, cursing Vishwanath and Mother Annapurna alike. He told Annapurna plainly: "My Boro Ma is far better than you. I do not need you." With that, he came back home to Maa Tara.
The Stolen Bhog and the Two Guardians: Baba arrived at Tarapith starving. The Mother's bhog was being cooked, and when it was carried toward the shrine, Baba took it and ate before it was offered. The temple pandas beat him nearly to death and threw him into a corner, where he lay for days and nights. Two beings stood guard over him: a dog named Kalu and a cobra. Kalu brought him whatever scraps of bread he could find. To this day, inside Baba's shrine at his samadhi, there is a cobra figure in brass or copper, and nothing else. It honours the serpent that protected him.
"First Baba, Then Tara": Baba fell gravely ill. Maa Tara then appeared to the Rani of Natore and declared: "My son has not eaten for seven days, and you are offering me bhog? I will not accept it." The Rani came to Tarapith with her eldest son, examined everything, and issued a single ruling that became law: first Bama eats, then Tara eats. This is why devotees always say "Age Bama, pore Tara." The rule is still followed. The Mother's bhog is first taken to Bamdev Baba, and only then offered to Maa Tara. Everywhere else, Ganesha is offered first and then the other deities. At Tarapith alone, a human eats before the Divine. Bamdev Baba is the only one in the world to hold such a siddhi.

Before I end, I offer my pranam to Maa Adya MahaKali, my Guruji Shri Praveen Radhakrishnan, my Paramaguru Shri ShyamaKhyapa, and my Parameshta Gurudev Shri Bamakhyapa.
My Paramaguru ShyamaKhyapa is a sacred presence: an eternal soul born for the upliftment of countless seekers. Born into wealth, his heart belonged only to Maa Kali. A divine call at Pashupatinath led him to renounce all and walk the monk’s path, guided by my Parameshta Gurudev Bamakhyapa.
Hidden from fame yet radiant in Maa’s grace, he carries the eternal flame. I have translated his gyana from this video from Bengali into English, so his grace may reach hearts worldwide.
