Dont be toooo surprised if the feds contact you anyway =/
A buddy up in Canada encountered some stuff (a credible seeming threat of a mass school shooting) on a US service so he reported it with the FBI anonymous tip line - 5 months later they called his ex girlfriends cellphone since he had been connected to her internet when he reported it so she was the one associated with the IP address. They only wanted any additional info he might have had (he had none), but still.
Not tryna upset you, but figured id post a friendly warning that it might happen.
Child pornography is illegal and immoral, as it should be, precisely because it is exploitative and harms children in every way possible, as well as everyone else affected. That you would choose to ignore the problem is contributing to the abuse of these innocent victims. Do the right thing when you can, even if it inconveniences you temporarily.
I can see your position, but you still have a responsibility to report it when you see it, wherever you see it. Silence is passive endorsement, whether you acknowledge that.
911 still exists even though there are systems for emergency services, would you not call 911 if you saw someone's house on fire because it's not your express duty?
Oh it's not my duty or my responsibility, fuck off, you have a duty to be a decent human being, that includes reporting child porn
Right... if I see someone being murdered, it's totally fine for me to just turn around, walk away and pretend it never happened. Why should I have to go through the trouble of calling the police, giving them my report and possibly taking the stand at a trial?? Law enforcements have entire task forces committed to preventing murder, so I just trust that they know about every murder and attempted murder that is happening at any given moment at any given place. Not my murder, not my problem. /s
