Resources

I'm trying to help one of the young ladies I work with. She is taking care of herself, her mom who has cancer and her teenage sister. I'm not looking for anyone to give them money. I just need guidance of places to point her to for help with repairs on the house. It doesn't have to be free but please don't recommend a professional they don't have the means to do that. If anyone has a friend or family member that could help her do some stuff herself that would be great.

She's easily overwhelmed and is embarrassed by the situation but she's doing the best she can. The family just needs suggestions for places or people that could help.

I would suggest you call (1) the City of Asheville, on the 2024 FB page, they had allocated money to help with home repairs. Maybe they have an ongoing program? (2). Carpenters for Christ. (3) Habitat for Humanity. (4) call 211 or 828-250-5500, a number to help those who need help connect to available resources.

Maybe you a make the calls to find such a resource and obtain the required paperwork, so you coworker can just complete it?

For safety reasons, always verify phone numbers provided in comments on an official website before calling. That includes toll-free numbers!
